Far from impressed with the Customer…
Far from impressed with the Customer Services at Aldermore.. Unresponsive. Unhelpful. Awkward and just not helpful. They seem to do everything possible to complicate a simple request.
Won't be using this company again

I've used Aldermore for years now and thought it's about time for a review.
I've had savings and ISAs with Aldermore, they are some of the best rates around.
This week i decided to fix an ISA for 3 years with the best rate available. As an existing customer it was easy to open and took seconds to move money from my existing Aldermore ISA to the new account. The external transfer will of course take longer.
Due to Aldermores great rates, a few years ago I decided to open accounts for my late mother as an attorney, this was also very easy to do.
Sadly she passed away recently, but the help received from Aldermore to gather the information required for the IHT forms was second to none.
I'd definitely recomment Aldermore.
I spoke with Rebekah at Aldermore…
I spoke with Rebekah at Aldermore regarding my mortgage account and wanted to leave positive feedback for her support.
She was clear, calm, and genuinely helpful, took the time to understand my situation, and explained my options transparently. She followed through exactly as promised, including sending a clear summary email, which I requested.
I especially appreciated being offered continuity of contact so I didn’t have to repeat myself. Excellent customer service.
Don't bother applying for a mortgage or…
Don't bother applying for a mortgage or remortgage with Aldermore unless you have about a year to spare. No joke! Valuations run out, signed docs out of date and still dribbling on like we've all got all the time in the world. Free legals? Ha ha! You pay it in interest when you can't get off an expensive mortgage rate instead. ELEVEN months since applying and still not completed. Basically don't bother!!

I would give less than 1 star if I could.
Having become too ill to work, which completely undermined my financial planning, I attempted to access funds in a fixed-term account (1 year). An application for an ill-health pension from my employer is taking way longer than their set out standards, which does not help circumstances.
I have had no income since Feb ‘25 and am 100% reliable on my partner for support. Currently, I owe a lot of money to them, which I really needed to repay as I’m now affecting their financial arrangements.
The conditions for withdrawal under such circumstances, are ‘exceptional circumstances’ and at the bank’s discretion. Be warned. Don’t put money into a fixed rate account if there is any possibility you may need it (though dying might be okay with this bank).
Seemingly, they created a false narrative around my circumstances. I got a sense as part of their evidence they googled me! The whole process has been incredibly intrusive.
Sure, I may not have helped myself being a bit naive. When asked what the money is for, I did interpret the question along the lines of ‘fraud/money laundering’ and stated what my partner was using the money for, rather than stating I was repaying a debt and trying to get on a financially liquid footing.
Other banks have taken me at my word in comparison, which has made Aldermore a complete outlier in my experience. Truly a bank that lacks compassion.
We have spent hours trying to use this…
We have spent hours trying to use this web site. At the end of a fixed interest deal the only way to reinvest is via the online account.
Customer services cannot help, even though the advisor helping us asked a supervisor if she could take a telephone instruction. She was told NO it had to be done via our online account.
We will withdraw all funds from Aldermore.

mortgage broker review
As a mortgage broker you expect an application system to work first time. That's never the experience with Aldermore's application system. It crashes or refers for no reason. Furthermore the way they ask you to break down the client's portfolio into personally owned single units, and HMOs owned in limited company is so user un-friendly it's unreal. Then you phone up to see if your portfolio information saved and if they can push the refer through. You are 'first in the queue' but still have to wait for ten minutes. All in all lots of improvements that can be made.
Aldermore are not the largest bank but…ately
Aldermore are not the largest bank but maybe this provides them with their ability to respond quickly to calls. Staff are helpful and friendly and for today's market are outstanding .
Compared to the bigger banks eg NatWest who are appalling, they shine out as customer caring .
They do not have an app at the time of writing, but this must be on the way.
A pleasure to deal with away from the " we are it" mentality of so many.
Stephen Dibden was so patient.
Stephen Dibden was amazing. He was so patient and understanding the whole time he spent with me. He stayed on line and helped me fill in all my details.
Full marks to Stephen. His help was really appreciated. Thankyou again.

Very Happy to Recommend
I have had savings with Aldermore for a number of years now. I have had reason to contact their telephone helpline over the last two weeks (having the ability to contact a real person these days is great). On both occassions I spoke with Hassan who dealt with my issue very clearly and quickly.
Poor communication and customer…
Poor communication and customer service. No responsibility taken for putting things right. Avoid this bank.
Not That Impressed So Far
Not That Impressed So Far
In Late September I called them to start the process of moving my Mums matured ISA at another bank to them.
A letter with POA form dated 1st Ictober arrived in mid October saying that I had 14 days from the date of the letter to respond.
I immediately filled out the form and enclosed all the required documents.
Almost a further two weeks on I get a letter saying they need proof of my Mums loss of capacity plus a copy of a bank statement to prove that my Mums bank account is hers - which they could have easily checked or asked for at the outset.
First impressions are not that great a one feels that they are not that interested in taking on new savers.
Emailed documents and they responded saying they needed them by post.
After more than 5 weeks have given up on Aldermore. - their customer service lacks any focus.
Managed to get a similar account running online within just FOUR DAYS with Nationwide including sorting out all the POA stuff.
My overall experience is very good
My overall experience is very good. I find their savings and cash ISA rates very competitive and I have now been saving with them for around 5 years and no issues.
The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is the setting up of the account and transfer of money just feels a little 'clunky' at the beginning.
An incompetent bank
These guys don’t know how to produce annul statement for business accounts as per HMRC rules . Completely incompetent and when you complain they get rude, nasty and aggressive!!

Simple to use online savings
Using Aldermore is simple with a clear log in process and simple choices of where to put savings dependent on need. Being online we can move money when we want and find the account we have with Aldermore serves our needs well.
Misleading about better rates for loyalty
Promised better interest rates on maturity of my cash ISA but the 1 year rate was the same as for ANY customer. Rates for 2 and 3 year cash ISAs were 0.01% higher (that would be an extra £1 per annum based on a balance of £10,000) but those longer fix accounts had interest rates that were uncompetitive in the general market place anyway. Aldermore do not agree that this is misleading - I do, so have moved to another financial institution. Oh, and so has my wife. I’m sure that our combined 6 figure sum will not make any difference to Aldermore but I am happy to move on and seek an ethical financial institution, if one actually exists; if not I will move on again. For existing customers, just make sure that the interest rate that you sign up to is competitive and better than Aldermore are offering any Tom, D**k or Harry when they claim it is better. Bye bye Aldermore.
Update 18 Nov 2025. Following their request I supplied contact details. They contacted me by telephone and agreed that my review was fair and truthful !!

Seamless Cash ISA transfer
Just transferred a Cash ISA from another Bank to Aldermore. Started the process on Monday and all complete on Thursday. Both Aldermore and, I have to say, the transferring bank conducted the process seamlessly and I was kept informed at each stage. To say I am impressed is an understatement.
Trustpilot took down my recent 5 star…
Trustpilot took down my recent 5 star review of Aldermore. They said they would put it back up if I showed them proof of my transaction with them and some very personal information. This I will not do.
I still rate Alermore 5 stars.
Impossible to access my savings…
Impossible to access my savings account. Endless layers of difficult security, and finally an absolutely unreadable PIN sent through the post ! Nowhere nearly as good access as any other main bank you could name - far too complex and time-consuming, so am going to close it and put the money in an online account with easier access. A really rubbish arrangement, not thought through or customer-friendly at all.
