My overall experience is very good. I find their savings and cash ISA rates very competitive and I have now been saving with them for around 5 years and no issues. The only reason I haven't given 5... See more

Been a customer many years..but not for much longer
Been a customer many years... good rates of interest and service ok.However if you are an existing customer, your loyalty will not be rewarded
My issue 5 double savings account pays a lower rate than new issue 8.. but they don't tell you when there's a better rare for exactly the same kind of account.(You are expected to keep checking for new issues and then close your old account and open a new one.)
Lost any trust I had in Aldermore Bank.
I think it's shameful treatment and they should reflect on this policy.
You decide...there are other banks that operate differently.
The response from Aldermore sums up the customer care....they have already written to say that as a matter of policy they do not share new interest rates with existing customers and that I should keep track of them myself!

ALDERLESS
I received an email from Aldermore inviting me to renew a maturing cash ISA.
I was promised exclusive interest rates in recognition of my loyalty.
Only there weren't any.
Had I not checked elsewhere I would never have known.
Aldermore were offering exactly the same rates to new investors.
A reward for loyalty or an underhand attempt to keep a customer?
You decide.
UPDATE: Re Aldermore's reply: It's not my 'experience'. It's a fact, plain and simple. Existing customers were informed they were being rewarded for their loyalty when they were not.

Stressed and disappointed!
I applied to move to 6 months of interest-only mortgage payments on 28th January, and got an automated email that said I would receive a decision within 5 working days.
This did not happen.
I contacted Aldermore on 10th February, and waited on hold for 50 minutes to be told they had no record of my application, despite me receiving an automated response. The member of staff I spoke to was apologetic and helpful, and I re-sent the form.
I got confirmation on 15th February that my application had been successful, but because of the timescale (caused by them losing my application) the full payment would be taken out on 28th February, but I would receive a refund of £255 within 6 working days.
This did not happen.
I contacted Aldermore on Friday 13th March. Despite entering my correct account number twice, the automated system informed me that this was an incorrect number.
After spending 45 minutes on hold I was told that although there was an action on my file to get this payment to me on March 10th, for some reason it hadn't happened. I was told that Aldermore would try to get it into my account that day.
This did not happen.
It is now the early afternoon on 16th March. There is still no payment, and I am now 43 minutes into waiting to speak to someone, and using the time to type this review.
I was originally 'first in line', but after 20 minutes of waiting, someone answered and told me I'd come through to the wrong department, despite me ringing the number on Aldermore's website that is clearly labelled 'mortgage complaints'. The member of staff was dismissive, didn't give his name, and simply said he 'didn't know' why the number wasn't the right one. No apology, no offer to make sure that it would be changed - nothing.
I had to speak over him to ask if I'd be put back on hold again, as I'd just spent 20 minutes being 'first in the queue'. He reassured me that no, the wait wouldn't be that long.
I am still 'third in the queue' and my total time on the phone so far is 50 minutes.
Because I had budgeted for this money going into my account on the 10th of March, I have missed a credit card payment, a mobile phone contract payment, and have gone over my arranged overdraft.
56 minutes, and I've just got to speak to a human...

Has been absolutely excellent after my illness, explained everything, then also went to the trouble of documenting our conversation and future options for me to keep in file.
Through some really difficult times the team at Aldermore have been extremely professional and understanding.

Can't be trusted to do what they say
After fully approving a business loan to refund us for various aspects of building work, and as a result us subsequently spending the money, they then decided they couldn't pay out on some aspect of the loan after all (even though they'd previously approved it). This meant what was left was below their minimum advance, so they pulled the loan completely leaving us out of pocket, and with a short-term cashflow issue. Extremely unprofessional and shockingly dealt with from start to end.
No surprises
My bond matured today. I had given instructions to invest part of the proceeds and have the remainder paid to my current account. Everything happened exactly as I had instructed in a timely manner. Happy to recommend this company.

Shocking Complaint Handling
17 weeks after a complaint was made and 3 weeks after a final response was received endorsing my rejection of a faulty car - and I still cannot get a returned phone call with a confirmed date when the car will be collected and my money refunded!
Strange, if I had missed a payment, I am sure I would be contacted exceptionally quickly.

Excellent Service!
I had to obtain some information from the Aldermore (at the request of a solicitor) regarding some cash I was lending one of my children in order to help with a house purchase. I thought this information would be difficult to get, but Josh at Aldermore was so helpful and provided everything I needed. Extra information was sent to me by post a week later and the solicitor was satisfied with the information given. Thank you Josh!
The usual interest rate Rope a Dope tactics
The Dope is, of course, the customer in Aldermore's eyes. Opened a single access Cash ISA about three weeks ago and Aldermore has now reduced the interest rate. Nothing wrong with that, they said base rates had reduced, so they lopped 0.25% off the rate. Fair enough EXCEPT, they then open a new "Issue" of EXACTLY the same account at a better rate than the previous issue. It's just underhanded and dishonest behaviour. Voted with my feet and moved the money onwards to another institution. Just make sure you check the interest rates you are getting compared to their current rates. If they are worse then express your displeasure and move to another savings provider. I hope this helps those that read it.

Like jumping through hoops - choose Aldermore.
This is not a review regarding lowered interest rates - this is to be expected with all financial institutions at the present time.
It is not a review about customer service - each time I have spoken to advisers they have been helpful and more than polite: thank you.
I am writing this review because both my husband and myself have a Reward Isa with Aldermore, and are fed up of having to jump through hoops to achieve what we want to do: eg
a)how to request a transfer into our Aldermore ISA's from another provider.
b) actual logging in is virtually impossible - the website fails to recognise our carefully inputted details, and we then have to wait days for a letter containing a code to reset our password. Today I managed to login on my phone without problems, but failed to find the info I wanted. The CS Advisor told me to clear cache and cookies on the laptop, as stored cookies can sometimes prevent login. This had been done yesterday anyway.
Doing anything with Aldermore is time consuming and extremely annoying, bearing in mind we live in a digital age, and waiting for postal comms is unnecessary - other financial institutions use a combination of PC and phone to provide/receive codes for security.
As soon as we are able, we will transfer out of Aldermore to a different provider.

Ageist
They gave me a decision in principle then declined the formal mortgage application. I still do not understand why their rationale made no sense. I feel its because I'm an older person trying to get a mortgage

30 days to review application and was rejected because they took longer than expected, not because the documents supplied were not valid. No communication at all regarding the progress of the application. Had to call customer service many times. They have now asked me to apply again, which I am not going to do after the interest rate dropped. Paragon Bank is a much better competitor.

BTL Interest rates are terrible
BTL Interest rates are terrible, absolute rip off, the discounted rate they are offering existing customers today is 6.23% which is only 0.20% lower than it was offering 2 years ago even though base rate has dropped 1.5% !! It shouldn't be allowed.
Far from impressed with the Customer…
Far from impressed with the Customer Services at Aldermore.. Unresponsive. Unhelpful. Awkward and just not helpful. They seem to do everything possible to complicate a simple request.
Won't be using this company again

I've used Aldermore for years now and thought it's about time for a review.
I've had savings and ISAs with Aldermore, they are some of the best rates around.
This week i decided to fix an ISA for 3 years with the best rate available. As an existing customer it was easy to open and took seconds to move money from my existing Aldermore ISA to the new account. The external transfer will of course take longer.
Due to Aldermores great rates, a few years ago I decided to open accounts for my late mother as an attorney, this was also very easy to do.
Sadly she passed away recently, but the help received from Aldermore to gather the information required for the IHT forms was second to none.
I'd definitely recomment Aldermore.
I spoke with Rebekah at Aldermore…
I spoke with Rebekah at Aldermore regarding my mortgage account and wanted to leave positive feedback for her support.
She was clear, calm, and genuinely helpful, took the time to understand my situation, and explained my options transparently. She followed through exactly as promised, including sending a clear summary email, which I requested.
I especially appreciated being offered continuity of contact so I didn’t have to repeat myself. Excellent customer service.
Don't bother applying for a mortgage or…
Don't bother applying for a mortgage or remortgage with Aldermore unless you have about a year to spare. No joke! Valuations run out, signed docs out of date and still dribbling on like we've all got all the time in the world. Free legals? Ha ha! You pay it in interest when you can't get off an expensive mortgage rate instead. ELEVEN months since applying and still not completed. Basically don't bother!!
I would give less than 1 star if I…
I would give less than 1 star if I could.
Having become too ill to work, which completely undermined my financial planning, I attempted to access funds in a fixed-term account (1 year). An application for an ill-health pension from my employer is taking way longer than their set out standards, which does not help circumstances.
I have had no income since Feb ‘25 and am 100% reliable on my partner for support. Currently, I owe a lot of money to them, which I really needed to repay as I’m now affecting their financial arrangements.
The conditions for withdrawal under such circumstances, are ‘exceptional circumstances’ and at the bank’s discretion. Be warned. Don’t put money into a fixed rate account if there is any possibility you may need it (though dying might be okay with this bank).
Seemingly, they created a false narrative around my circumstances. I got a sense as part of their evidence they googled me! The whole process has been incredibly intrusive.
Sure, I may not have helped myself being a bit naive. When asked what the money is for, I did interpret the question along the lines of ‘fraud/money laundering’ and stated what my partner was using the money for, rather than stating I was repaying a debt and trying to get on a financially liquid footing.
Other banks have taken me at my word in comparison, which has made Aldermore a complete outlier in my experience. Truly a bank that lacks compassion.
