Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 250 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers reported that their appliances, including washers, stoves, refrigerators, and microwaves, stopped working or malfunctioned shortly after purchase, some within months or a few years. Reviewers frequently encountered issues with product quality, such as a washer tank rusting, a dryer stopping after 10 minutes, or a refrigerator light failing prematurely, indicating a lack of durability. The customer service was widely criticized for long wait times, unhelpful representatives, and an inability to resolve problems, often leading to frustration and repeated calls without resolution. Many also expressed dissatisfaction with the warranty process, finding that advertised 10-year warranties did not cover critical parts or that service providers were unwilling to honor them, leading to significant repair costs. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that despite initial damage, their issue was eventually resolved with a replacement and follow-up, suggesting some positive outcomes in specific cases.

Wish I could give a 0

Wish I could give a 0. This company is something. Ordered microwave through third party on 4/19/26, shown to be in stock and 48 hours processing , long story short here we are 6/2/26 and getting run around again. Finally asking for refund to finish this crazy story. Was planning on purchasing all whirlpool appliances for entire house, kitchen, laundry but that won't be happening. Such a shame another good business going down hill.

Will never buy Whirlpool appliance again

A new home I purchased in Florida in 2014 came with all Whirlpool appliances, Fridge, Stove, Microwave, Washer, Dryer, Dishwasher. In 10 years, one after another they started with problems. I replaced them with Whirlpool Dishwasher, Dryer, and repaired Fridge once. Now my fridge is not working. I purchased a Samsun Fridge to replace it. I will never buy a Whirlpool appliance again.

Never again will I buy

I bought a side by side with water and ice in the door. I have always liked whirlpool until now. I had problems with the fridge side freezing my perishables. This started 2 months in. Didn't know I could call to get it fixed until a friend said to try. By this time it had been almost a year. Frustrated with still loosing food, I called. It was a hassle to get a repair man out here so I asked for a replacement. Then they send a repairman out. Thought it was fixed and we are right back to freezing food in the fridge side. I called because this was the same issue before warranty was out and now they want me to pay for the repairs. Absolutely not!!!! What I will do is tell everyone what has happened to me and the fact that we are on a fixed income and continually tossing away perishable food that is expensive to replace. Even my eggs freeze. I have lost so much money on this deal that saving money purchasing it online from the manufacturer was not worth it. SORRY WHIRLPOOL YOU JUST LOST A LIFETIME SUPPORTER OF YOUR PRODUCTS. I will never buy another and probably try and sell this one to see if I can get enough to purchase another brand. Although I have to say it won't be LG or Madea as I had the same issue with them. Appliances may be built to only last a couple years and then you need to replace them, this problem started almost at the purchase and is still a major issue. I've tried changing the temperature control on it and it just gets worse. No real fixing the issue with those options. UGH!!!!!

Whirlpool has a scam with their major…

Whirlpool has a scam with their major appliances in partnership with the retailer Lowe's. Purchased a top load Whirlpool washer (WTW8127LW3) and dryer (WGD5050LW#) on March 8, 2026 from Lowe's. The washer does not dispense enough detergent to actually clean your clothes, and you have to dry the load of clothes 3 times for it to actually dry. Whirlpool sent out 2 different technicians 3 weeks after the purchase was made who indicated the machines are newer so much more sensitive. So, the result was nothing was fixed. Lowes encourages you to purchase their Lowes Protection Plan for an additional $300-$500. When you call them, they tell you need to call Whirlpool for the 1st year. When you call Whirlpool, they tell you to call Lowe's. Neither Lowe's nor Whirlpool will acknowledge these appliances are garbage. I am now caught in middle with no solution in site. These major companies need to be held accountable. $2300 hundred for garbage. It is now the end of May and I still trying to resolve this issue. Stay away from these companies. Spoke to Eberlee at Lowe's and Kania at Whirpool on 5/26/26. I was on the phone for 2 hours with no resolution.

Whirlpool needs to "care" more

@Whirlpool :

I am really surprised at Whirlpool, you are supposed to be a reputable service and stand behind your product. My Mother purchased a washer for me in December of 2024,She thought also because Whirlpool is a reputable service I won't purchase the extended warranty I'll just use Best Buys warranty. Its not even December of 2026, and this washer just stopped working because of a bad mother board and because she did not purchase an extended warranty, all it seems you (Whirlpool) are willing to offer me is a repair protection plan. Which mind you is $36 per month for 12 months or $396 for a fix but I only have 90 days to call in if there's a problem, that's what your Whirlpool CSR told me just 1/2 an hour a go, if there's a problem call and pay. Won't be purchasing any Whirlpool products again if these are the kind of hoops that you expect customers to go through.

Whirlpool just screwed me over

Whirlpool just F**ked me over, sold me an extended warranty for $60 a year. I asked if the payments would ever go up, the said no, the payments would remain the same until I cancelled.
I thought it was a great deal. I gave CC info for
Monthly payments.
So, I get an email saying something was wrong with my payment options. No problem, I gave a different CC number and asked if it would raise my payments, they said no.
I got my bank statements and the payments had been going through just fine but the doubled my payments on the new card. How in the hell is this legal. It criminal.

Whirlpool Lied by Omission and Sold Faulty Machines Anyways

I am reading Whirlpool one star today because of my purchase in 2024 of a new washing machine. Worked great for almost a year and then One day it's was stuck on the rinse cycle and the drain pump would constantly keep running until it would burn out. The only solution to this problem is to buy a new control board or if you call Whirlpool and talk to their customer service people they will replace it and send somebody out free of charge which is great and all if you aren't a family of five because these control boards are very much sought after and on back order for possible months, so much so that they can't even give you a rough date of when they possibly can get somebody out to fix it. Then to my surprise I find out Whirlpool has known about this problem yet continued to sell this model and keep it on the market and sell people faulty devices at regular floor price and also not inform the person purchasing said washing machine about the issue they have known about the entire time. This washing machine has been on the market. After doing my research not only did they continue selling these washing machines in 2023, they continued to do so through 2024 as well. I can't speak you're on if they did for the 2025 and 2026 models. Either way that's just bad business and 100% doing exactly what a corporation is meant to do, which is make as much money for the shareholders and owner as possible under any circumstances or means. So this tells me that it was more profitable for them to keep it on the market and both buy new motherboards and have their people come out and service then to recall the whole lot of washing machines and fix the problem. At the very least, they should inform their salespeople to let the person purchasing the product. No that there has been known issues with the control board failing and also drain pumps burning out. Just adding to the long list of why I hate politics and corporations. Needless to say I will no longer ever be purchasing Whirlpool and will be spreading the word as I am now to as many people as possible to inform them of how Whirlpool does business and what they stand for and that is definitely not for the customer. But most definitely for the owner and the shareholders. Thanks for ripping me off. Whirlpool, will be the last time.

Reset the "Replace Filter" alert

I was trying to turn off the "replace filter" light after I replaced it. There was no clear instructions in the owner's manual as it offers multiple solutions for different models, while my model is included, my control panel looked nothing like what they showed. I googled videos and even Whirlpool's own videos; none showed my panel. After two hours, I tried to call customer service. This is where the fun begins. I will not bore you with the details, but after trying online chat while on hold (no help), I was transferred to about 4 people who all couldn't help. Although one man realized that somehow the panel had become locked, but he couldn't figure out how to unlock it... My final transfer put me back to the original queue where I began! It has now been 4+ hours. I gave up, had a martini, went out for dinner and tackled it myself in the morning by basically accidentally figuring out how to unlock the control panel (I think I held the hold light on the panel for 3 seconds), then held the freezer and drawer buttons together and held them for 3 seconds and the 'replace filter' went away. This was the first time we had to replace it. I hope this doesn't happen every time! I would have lived with it, but if it's not reset, eventually it will flash and beep every time you get water. As this is a vacation home that we rent out as well, I wouldn't want a renter thinking we don't change our water filter! The reason for the 2 star over a 1 star is because all in all I do like the functions of the refrigerator. It's the control panel and customer service that is awful. It's still under warranty, so I am tempted to put in a service call so someone can show me how to push buttons that are not on my panel!!! Never again will I purchase a Whirlpool product and I am due for 2 new dishwashers and a new oven in the near future. What I may do it make my own YouTube video and show people how to actually use my specific control panel. There must be other people who have my panel out there.

Product Quality - Customer Service Grade of 0.0

Our dishwasher's drain pump malfunctioned after 3 months of use. As bad as that was, the experience with their customer service was beyond AWFUL. I called Whirlpool to report the problem under warranty. The first representative I spoke with seemed more interested in getting me to purchase the extended warranty. At the end of the call she asked me if my phone number I had used to register my product on line was still valid and it wasn't. She said oh you will need to call the repair company that I scheduled you with to change the number since its too late for me to do it. I called the repair company and gave them my new contact #. They said we will call you shortly to schedule a time of arrival the following day for the repair. When I didn't get the call, I called them back and they still had my old number. I got that corrected. The following day, I went to my on line account with Whirlpool and all of my purchase information on the dishwasher was no longer showing on line. I called Whirlpool to see what the issue was and they couldn't figure it out. I sent an email to customer service explaining the problem and about 4 hours later the information was restored. I suspect the phone number change led to this issue. The repair person called that they were on the way however there was a problem. The warranty information from Whirlpool wasn't showing to them and therefore they would only come if I paid for it. They told me exactly what was missing and I would need to call Whirlpool to get it squared away. I asked the repair person for his supervisor's number and when I spoke with the supervisor - he was very nice he said if we don't have it done properly we won't get paid. He said if I had the sales receipt and sent him a picture that of it, he could use that to get the required info filled in correctly. So not only was the quality of the product poor, customer service was awful. This will be the last time purchasing a product from them. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Very disappointed with Whirlpool

Very disappointed with Whirlpool customer service and product quality. My Whirlpool WDT730HAMZ dishwasher experienced a control board failure after only about 2 years, with only the drain function working — apparently a common issue with this model. After waiting over 40 minutes to speak with a representative, I was told the appliance was out of warranty and was pushed toward repair plans without being provided full terms, cancellation details, or written documentation of my complaint. Whirlpool also refused to provide proof of the notes entered under my case (#23477695). Consumers deserve better transparency and support for what appears to be a recurring product issue.

Horrible

Horrible. I used to sell appliances. Do not buy the combination washer / dryer it does not work for long, 5 washes to be exact. Several repair attempts never got it working and now they are stalling on returning my money. This is a new machine bought at Home Depot. I will post and re post on all social media daily until I get my money back. DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL

Whirlpool Water softener resin tank cracked, flooding the floor.

I purchased Whirlpool Water softener and after 4 months the resin cylindrical tank cracked causing water to overflow. The salt tank was filled with the resin beads. I created a service request, they asked me upload the photos/videos which I promptly did. I am very disappointed with the customer service as there is no phone number to call them, only email exchange. It's been 10 days since I have been waiting for a resolution. I want a free replacement as the product is only 4 months old and should be fully covered under warranty.

Side by side refrigerator

Side by side refrigerator, brand new, less than five months of standard use. Heater and defrost has failed five times and has stopped cooling. Waiting on visit number five from a technician, for quite literally the same identical issue. Customer service is useless and easily takes between 30 minutes to over an hour (or in my case, 1 hr24min) to get in touch. Refuse to replace, and they appear to have "lost" a record of service "by accident" Avoid this brand at all costs, they are not the whirlpool of 10+ years ago.

Where do I begin

Where do I begin? Is there a way to put zero stars? I’m not sure I’ve ever been treated more poorly on a customer service chat line and there’s a reason they don’t allow you to leave a review on their website. I bought my washer last year with cash from a well-known supplier and the tank is completely rusted. They will not let you talk to a manager or they will not help you even if it’s under warranty please don’t buy whirlpool. They may have been great once upon a time, but that time has ended.

If I could give zero I would

If I could give zero I would. $1200 dryer failed after 4 cycles. 2 visits, replaced 2 different boards, nothing. Now ...well maybe it's the wiring harnesses that are bad replace those. Called whirlpool...requested replacement. 2 months have not been able to use, and they are just shot gunning parts at this thing. Whirlpool will not replace stating their policy is they must continue to replace parts until their "master technician" says it needs replacement. This is horrendous... literally 4 cycles of use and it's a $1200 door stop sitting here waiting weeks at a time for parts and scheduling appt. The actual repair guy said call whirlpool and tell them you want a replacement the next repair involves taking the entire drier apart to replace the wiring...never...I mean never in my 60 years have I experienced such a farce.

We bought a whirlpool side by side…

We bought a whirlpool side by side refrigerator about 3 yrs ago.
I contacted Whirlpool Corporation regarding what appears to be a design defect in the wiring harness inside my freezer door. This isn’t normal wear and tear—it’s a failure point built into the design.
Their response? A generic message pointing me to a phone number because the appliance is outside the 1-year warranty. No acknowledgment of the defect. No accountability.
When a product fails due to a design flaw, hiding behind warranty terms is not acceptable. I expected a company like Whirlpool to stand behind their products beyond a scripted response.
Buyers beware: if something goes wrong after a year—even due to a likely design issue—you may be on your own.
