No enquiries at all from this site

No enquiries at all from this site while I was getting quite a few each week from other sources. The website isn't very intuitive to use from the practitioner side. I also had a random payment pending for ages on my credit card, it eventually disappeared but I had contacted them about it and no one replied.

* The random payment mentioned was after the verification fee and first months membership had already been taken. I'm not disputing the need to verify counsellors, I had already been verified.

Hello Jac, We are of course disappointed by this review on Trustpilot. You were a member of Welldoing for less than three weeks which we feel is a very short time to make a decision on our use to your as a therapist. We have spent nearly 10 years building a community of 1000 practitioners, all of them members of well-respected professional bodies. We support them with free CPD (which would costs £100s) plus fortnightly peer support. Our newsletter, social media and digital advertising spreads words of us through the UK where we are highly rated. RE the "random payment pending" this was not a mistake. We charge a verification fee so that we can be sure that every practitioner is a valid professional -- only once we have done that do we take the first month's payment. Most therapists want to be on a platform that excludes people who are not fully trained.
Wishing you all the best in your profession,
Louise

Very happy to be listed on welldoing as a therapist

I have been on the welldoing directory as a therapist for over three years and I have been very happy with the conversion of potential interest to actual client relationships. Generally the clients that have come to me through welldoing, have been totally genuine and reliable and many have turned into long term relationships. I found my dealings with both Alice and Louise from welldoing totally professional and supportive.

A complete con

A complete con. They took money from me without informing me first that I had to be affiliated with a professional association. And refused to pay it back.

Hello Russell Bloxham, I am mystified by your review. It is two hours since I emailed you that we are refunding your verification fee. As I said in my email to you we only accept professional bona fide therapists and on the joining page of our platform it is clearly stated "When you join we verify your professional membership status and re-check this every year; this ensures that all our therapists are qualified." We couldn't verify you as a current member of any of the professional associations we verify, and it would have been against all our rules to accept you. Best wishes, Louise Chunn

I have made contact with a nice therapist. We have yet to start work) actually it's my son).
But trying to pay for the first introductory session was a total nightmare. I wish I could have just done a straightforward bank transfer.

Lunch and Learn - invaluable!

As a Welldoing practitioner I'm constantly delighted by the opportunity to Lunch and Learn with big hitters in the therapy and psychology community. These online CPD sessions for the Welldoing therapists and coaches are intimate, thought-provoking and inspiring. They also give us the the chance to get up close to some of our heroes. Thanks Louise and Alice, it's a fantastic bonus for all.

An excellent self-employed counselling platform

Welldoing is an excellent counselling platform for promoting self-employed counsellors and therapists, they are supportive and engaging, and work tirelessly to present their clients in the best way possible.

A great place for therapists and clients

Welldoing.org has been a great place for me to promote my work and develop my practice. Louise and Alice take a sensitive and holistic approach to the experience of both therapists and clients. The site has been a place for me to extend my client base and also for me to learn and develop, through opportunities for CPD and creating content. Highly recommend.

One of my favourite directories

As a counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor who has been working in private practice for over 10 years, I have come across a range of different directories. Welldoing.org has really stood the test of time for me and is a directory I happily recommend. Over the years, I have had a number of referrals who have developed into strong therapeutic relationships, and I have appreciated how reliable, committed and engaged my welldoing.org clients have been. Whether it is their Personalised Matching Service, their questionnaire which help clients identify a suitable counsellor or their informative Lunch and Learn CPD events and member benefits, welldoing.org continues to positively surprise me.

Hello Kellie, I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed. Possibly the bank holiday weekend got in the way of responding. I am contacting the therapist myself to try to understand what is happening. We have almost 1000 therapists, so perhaps you might want to approach one or two others to see if they have the availability and expertise that you are after. Please do contact me at louisechunn@welldoing.org if you feel you would like more support in your search. Best wishes, Louise

Hello Laura, We are sorry to hear that you are not yet comfortable with Welldoing. The bulk of our therapists receive contacts direct from clients who find them using the postcode or questionnaire part of the Find a Therapist service. The Personalised Matching is a paid-for (by clients) part of Welldoing and matches will only come if you are relevant to clients -- ie are in their area, have expertise they want, have fees that suit their search. We do believe using content or a Meet the Therapist interview helps with new joiners. Alice McGurran can help with that - alicemcgurran@welldoing.org. I hope this has been useful. Best wishes, Louise

Matching process is unbelievably opaque for £90

I'm looking for a therapist, and hoped to get something in place asap (as really struggling with life at the moment). With this in mind, I was excited to come across this site, and its matching service. But, having filled out the online forms, I was both confused and frustrated to find a request for payment of £90 at the end of the process. I have no idea what this is for - whether its a platform fee, or charge for first session. If its the latter, and I'm not comfortable with the therapist that I'm matched with, what then happens to the £90. I wont be taking things forward, but recommend someone at Welldoing does some serious thinking about this aspect of the user experience. For many of us who are desperate to find the 'right' therapist £90 is a lot of money to hand over without knowing anything at all about the matching process, timeframe, or what say we have if we aren't happy with options presented.

Hello Simon, I am very sorry for the delay. I am happy to explain. We have a number of ways you can find a therapist, two that have no fee (search by postcode, use our filter questionnaire) or the Personalised Matching Service. At the beginning of that page, it does state there is a matching fee. The FAQs also explain that it is not part of the therapist's fee, but for the time spent researching and contacting potential therapists for each client. We are more than happy to match again and again until we find each individual the person best suited, within the budget, available when they are, and so on. Thousands of clients have found their therapists this way. I hope this helps you understand our process, which we do feel is quite well-covered by the text on the page. I hope you have been able to find a therapist for yourself in the meantime. With best wishes, Louise
