Excellent Team and Outstanding Customer Care
Excellent customer service with their clients. Detailed tutorials are available to help their clients. The team is wonderful to work with -very responsive.
Excellent app
Setting up a tour with Voicemap is probably one of the easiest ways to get going. As an author the process is really simple and I am in full control of what will eventually go out under my banner.
With no upfront costs this is the perfect solution for anyone with an idea but no free cash to set up. All the costs are clearly set out with no hidden charges.
The editing process is efficient and friendly – Alicia is always very helpful and makes my tour sound like me but better.
I would heartily recommend using Voicemap to set up a tour of your favourite location. There is nothing to lose except the time it takes you to write the script and set the location.
The final result is brilliant with sound effects added to make the whole experience professional and exciting.
All in all, if you are looking for a tour app then Voicemap would be the one to choose.
Excellent service from start to finish.
If you are willing to put up with some minor inconveniences, this here is bedrock.
As someone who is seeking to create non-linear tours with upwards of a thousand locations, I think it is safe to assume that I represent the outer limit of this platform’s consumer base. I started making GPS Audio tours on the Detour platform years ago, but when they went defunct, I was left searching for a replacement. After years of searching and several disappointments, I have landed on this platform and still use it to this day.
The best piece of advice I could give anyone looking to use these tools is to get used to resetting them: almost every glitch I have yet encountered can be addressed simply by refreshing the voice maps webpage. Stuck on a loading screen? Refresh the page. Map frozen after moving a location? Refresh the page. Location not responding to being clicked on? Refresh the page. Refreshing the page is so integral to the process that some features, such as cloning locations, appear to use it by default, and if anything, this is its biggest weakness. The need to constantly reorient yourself means that certain otherwise simple tasks (such as uploading audio to over 100 locations) can become arduous when you must keep relocating what you were just working on.
In addition, navigation and organization can be very difficult because there are next to no tools to compartmentalize your tours or locations. The option to organize tours into folders or bins or even to delete them would be a godsend when dealing with multiple drafts of the same tour, and when you are dealing with tours of hundreds of locations, finding a particular location can become frustrating. The information and tools you have at your disposal are limited by which view you are working in, and you are unable to shrink the browser window to a width lower than 1000 pixels (which is particularly problematic for me as I like to reference notes while working on my tours). These problems are further compounded by the fact that, when a tour has too many locations, Voicemap slows down to the point of being borderline unusable, making it impossible to work on larger tours. Luckily, the Voicemap team is extremely responsive and highly ingenuitive. Even when they don’t have a direct solution, they always manage to find some creative, out of the box way of dealing with my problems, such as when they rigged up a method to combine multiple smaller tours into one larger one as a way of bypassing the slowdown I was experiencing.
I could continue complaining, but the truth is that I would just be nitpicking, and these tools were clearly not designed for the scale I’m working at anyway, so if anything I’m impressed they even work. All you really need to know is this; I’ve spent a long time searching for a platform with which to experiment on, and this is the first one that’s stuck because for all its quirks, it is remarkably consistent in its quirkiness. I won’t say it’s perfect, but if you are like me and looking to innovate with GPS Audio Content, I genuinely could not point you to a more solid platform.
Wonderful Help
This team really took a small idea that I had and made it into a reality. They were always willing to answer any question and give me advice when I was stuck. I really appreciate the time and guidance.
Great Support and Creating Process
A few months ago I was actively contacted by Voicemap to create a tour in my hometown since I am the host and creator of a history podcast about my hometown. I was very happy about that, because I always wanted to organize a city tour, but never had time for it due to my professional life. However, the tours guided by GPS and smartphone that Voicemap offer give me exactly the chance to share the rich history of my hometown with people from all over the world that visit. At any time.
When creating a tour, you are directly supervised by an editor who is permanently assigned to you. The editor wonderfully picked up my own ideas, opened myself up for new ideas about story-telling and always supported me when I struggled with the process. From designing the route, to scripting, to the final recording and distribution process. When the tour was finished, I was almost a little sad that the creation process was over. So I will surely create another city tour in the near future. I can therefore highly recommend Voicemap.
From tour customer to tour creator.
I started as a customer then I realised what a great way it was to publish a tour. Having an editor really helps to see how your tour appears to others. I found that creating the tour on their website was easier when you prepare the script first. Then they can help you to get the best out of it. After that I was on to the sound file. Again the team at Voicemap made that easier as well.. There is a library of support files to help you promote the tour and it always surprises me how soon the customers get interested. Payments then passed through to me without any hold ups.
Transformed my storytelling ability
I have nothing but praise for the Voicemap team. As a tour guide, with my own walking tour business, four years ago I took the plunge and decided to have a go at creating a voicemap tour. Although I was initially nervous about the technology, the support from the team was second-to-none, with a special mention to Gary, who is not only excellent at what he does and a highly skilled editor, he is always friendly and supportive with it. Four years on and I have now completed five of them, across two countries, with more in the pipeline. The tours, some of which I used to deliver in person, are now lifted to a completely different plane, as easy to download audiotours with added music and sound effects, to help the listener become completely immersed and help me get the story across exactly as I want. This has had a particularly profound effect on the ghost tours! Working with Voicemap is always fun, and a shared creative experience.
Great Support
As a VoiceMap publisher, I've enjoyed the opportunity to publish my tours on this incredible app, and collaborating with my VoiceMap editors has been a pleasure—as well as a valuable process. Through their expertise and guidance, I’ve been able to distill my tour narrative and focus its impact. A lot of the success of my VoiceMap tours is due to their direction.
Good for tour developers and clients
I developed a tour for VoiceMap a few years ago and found their guidance and editing support to be very helpful in publishing a polished product. They made the sound quality so much better and made sure that the recordings trigger in the right places. They have quickly and efficiently handled updates to my tour and royalty payments have been made without fuss.
First-time VoiceMapper
I found the tour editing straightforward to handle and had good support from the in-house team. Since launch about nine months ago, my audio tour has provided a small but welcome passive income to supplement my other freelance work. Royalty payments have been clear and paid promptly.
Great people, great app, A+
I've been working with VoiceMap for several years and have nothing but good things to say. As a matter of fact I'm about to start developing a new tour. It's a nice side stream of income for a travel podcaster. The company has been supportive at every turn, I am really happy with our relationship.
Going for more:
I have produced so far 5 GPS audio tours, 3 for Bogotá and 2 for Cartagena. The Voicemail team has always been on top of everything and pay royalties on time.
The best way to make your local knowledge available to the masses.
As a local guide, I was at first skeptical how I could parlay the visitor's experience into a digital product.
But the more I learned about the Voicemap product and procedures, the more sold I was.
First off, Voicemap technology is superb. It's easy to use, accurate, and because of its design it even perceives when a user has 'gone astray' and helps get them back on course.
Second, my Voicemap editor is wonderful in all phases of tour development. From the very beginning when I was just starting and trying to grasp the procedure, to the present day as we develop new products, they are always available, helpful and I look forward to a cheery message from them.
If you're thinking of working with Voicemap, you can't go wrong!

I have nothing but praise for the Voicemap team.
The initial tour creation was done with many tips and suggestions from the wonderful editor, Alicia. Gary had a bit of work on his hands getting my voice sounding nice and clear too.
Since the setup, I have had to make amendments for reasons such as road closures, new venues, etc and on each occasion they are so quick to update the tour.
My customers are always happy with the tech, and i myself think it's a user friendly app for customers and a fabulous idea.

When VoiceMap invited me to create tours for my city, I noted that some 160 cities of the whole world already were online, but not Geneva Switzerland. Our city being of key importance to the world, this could not be!
Making some 200 guided tours per year for many years, I know the place pretty well. So, VoiceMap helped me to set up three guided tours of an average of 45 minutes in Geneva. A fourth one is in the little picturesque city of Carouge just next to Geneva.
I’ve had great fun putting these tours in place. The pandemic ending soon, we will promote them with the hotels and tourists, the huge number of people coming to congresses in Geneva… and the great number of English-speaking residents. All these people must know what a fantastic world-important history Geneva has! There is a great potential!
A seamless and fruitful introduction to audio-tours
My editor at Voicemap made sure that my introduction to the platform was seamless and fruitful. I consider that I am better author now thanks to her help and I know that I am supported at all times. Thanks!
What a way to see a city,,
What a way to see a city in this pandemic situation. Having my own guide in the headphones, when I walk by my self - excellent!! Interesting and enjoyable information about the city. Very nice product!!
VoiceMap equals Five Stars
VoiceMap has a quality team and a solid product. I have benefited from VoiceMap as both a tour creator and customer. The VoiceMap team, in particular my editor helped my really good tours become great tours. Now, every time I visit a new city, I find myself checking the VoiceMap App to see if they have something to offer. It is so easy to use and truly enhances your experience. It helps you to discover and learn!
Great experience from start to finish
VoiceMap is a fantastic resource that has made it easy for me to convert my physical walking tours into audio tours. Using the online mapping tool, planning the route and plotting the locations couldn’t be simpler. The ability to see the estimated walking time between locations and to know how many words will fit into that time is particularly useful. Gary has been a tremendous help and working with him as my editor has ensured that the script makes sense and flows nicely. He is also very quick to respond to any questions I've had. The text to speech facility is great as it allows me to physically test the route and check that the audio is activated at the right time. This being done, it’s then very easy to upload my own recorded audio and send the finished tour back to the editors for final checks and approval. I’m currently writing the script for my fifth tour and looking forward to working with the VoiceMap team again.
Great Experience!
I've recently created an audio tour with Voicemap to Stratford-Upon-Avon. Alicia was incredible from start to finish. The process was long to write a script and test the audio in a town that wasn't where I live, but the end result was so pleasing and I couldn't have done it without their support.
Thank you Alicia, and to anyone thinking of creating an audio tour with them.. do it! It's worth all the effort you put into it!
