It’s been a couple of months since I’ve gotten my orders and well....
To sum up my experience quickly, after MONTHS of waiting I received my first box which was just really full of random junk records, nothing worthwhile from indie bands that had nothing to do with my taste. My second month was much better by a significant margin, I was sent records that were worthwhile from pretty decent bands. VNYL is a decent service in need of drastic help/leadership, the wait for 1-3 records is atrocious and you might be better off paying for overpriced albums at your local record store BUT at the same time you could find a lot of hidden gems with vnyl. I’d recommend VYNL if you have a very specific music taste and if you’re incredibly patient but besides that you might have better luck tossing a significant amount of money at record stores for overpriced copies and unwarranted bootlegs. (Bumped up from 1 star because I very much enjoyed my second month)

They will take your money and never send you what you paid for. Vnyl is a complete scam and ripoff

I wanted to try VNYL for a while, but was nervous about it. They offered a half price first month, so I signed up on April 15, 2021. I then read all their fine print. If you don’t cancel before renewal, you are charged again (of course, this is normal). If you cancel before receiving the records you paid for, you don’t get them! I wanted to try them out before committing, and I was hoping to love the experience. The renewal would happen May 15, and on May 7th I emailed to ask about the April curation, which I had heard nothing about yet. On May 10th I was told it was ready to be shipped and that VNYL would “get extra eyes on it so it is shipped as quickly as possible”. I could expect tracking info soon. On May 14th I received USPS tracking from VNYL, which stated that the label had been created. USPS didn’t receive the pkg until May 26th, and it is expected to be delivered on June 1st!! Sigh. Such a great idea. Such terrible execution. Even if you’re willing to wait, you won’t be able to get at least one months curation when you cancel, or they go out of business. Let them go. I cannot yet review the actual records, as it is only 6 weeks since I ordered, and I have at least another week to wait. At this point, I’m not expecting much. I was able to cancel future charges during the email conversation.

I had high hopes for this service, I'm a huge music fan and wanted to grow my music collection, but like everyone has said it's confusing. My 1st month with the service, was fine. They sent my record on time, but after that it went down hill. I didn't know I had to choose my #vibes on a monthly basis and the proceed to "order" my albums through a checkout service. This gets frustrating because I thought the whole service was about curated albums based on my tastes. On top of the confusion, like many have stated, I had to call them and email on multiple occasions about the status of my the curated albums, they take no ownership of anything, and like to blame the post office for not either picking up packages or blaming them for misplacing it. So if your reading this, check out better subscription services like VMP.

The "curated" records are mostly garbage. You can only cancel by phone and the customer service representative takes you through a 20 minute rigamarole before you can cancel. Also, any unused credits are unavailable for use after you cancel but you you can't place multiple orders at a time, so if you miss a month, you basically don't get the records you paid for.

Received a 3 month Gift subscription. Thought it was weird they needed a credit card to receive a gift, READ THE FINE PRINT!! Unless you Cancel before your subscription renews, they automatically start charging monthly. I was charged twice before even receiving my 3rd pack of records!!! No email, no notice about 'Gift Subscription' running out. Only received store credit, no refund. Unethical business practices if you ask me.
Also, I tried to curate my profile the best I could, writing in bands, genres, linked Spotify, AND Discogs and I think I've only enjoyed like 3/9 records I received. Sounds like a great idea, but it's not.

Trash, thought I'd try for a month or two then cancel. When I tried they lied to me and continued charging me. Literally being forced to merchant block them.

The vinyls they pick suck too absolutely no value, 8$ vinyls for 17$ what I thought would be a fun experiment turned into a year long headache.

Original post: DO NOT GET THIS!!! I hate this service. It has been confusing, difficult, disappointing from the beginning and now I have seven records to show for being charged $15 a month for 2 years. I just cancelled and noticed they do not provide credit after you cancel so that's it. I have to walk away from a bad investment.

Edit: Part of the problem is their website is trying so hard to be slick that it provides no information. If you are an old guy like me and you don't know that 'Select you vibe' means pick a record, and that you can listen to it prior to buying, then you are kind of screwed. I wrote an email telling them how dissatisfied I was with the first record and got the "we're sorry you feel that way" response. Not helpful.

Right after the original posting of this review I was contacted by the company to let me know how to use up my credit. Not sure if they changed policies or if I misunderstood. The selection was not great but there are some really good new artists that I got turned on to. Upgrading to 3 stars!

I subscribed to them, and they continually deducted money from my account. For three months I NEVER received my records and when I informed them, they gave me store credit instead. When I tried to use the store credit towards the actual subscription I paid for, they’re now telling me that store credit cannot be used for subscriptions. So basically, they took over $100 from me, sent me nothing, and now refuse to let me use the money for the service I paid for. The service sounds like a great idea, but I’d avoid them at all costs.

I decided to take a chance on vnyl and I just want to say don’t waste the time or money. I’d give them a 0 star review if I could. I ordered my 1st box in February of 2020 and it’s now May and I still haven’t received anything. I tried to wait a over a month before contacting them, at that point I’d accidentally ordered a 2nd box still without receiving the first. Neither box has been delivered to date. I’ve called customer service 3 times and every time I’ve received the response that is USPS’ fault. At this point I don’t believe a word of it. Customer service is nice but nice words don’t fix the problem. They need to fix this. I’m surprised they are still in business because I’ve seen this problem with so many people.

I was charged for 3 months, and never received a single record. When I was finally able to get ahold of someone, they told me they could not refund me all of my money they took, they could only submit a refund request for the most recent charge, because I was calling writhing 24 hours (I’d been trying to call for a couple months. Left multiple messages, they never called me back). They then told me they didn’t know why I hadn’t received anything, and asked if I needed help with anything else. Uh, yea, my money back or the service I was paying for lol. I promptly canceled my subscription. We’ll see if I ever get any back. If I could give 0 stars, I would. 10/10 would not recommend.

Scam. Be especially careful if you get a gift card, they'll charge your card(that you have to have on file) and then give you 24hrs to notice and call for a refund. Records won't ship unless you call and complain about it and you won't like the music they send anyway. I cut 6/9 sent and am using them as coasters, worth more that way.

Worst company EVER! Ordered back in February and my package STILL hasn't come, ITS MAY 1ST!! and they had the audacity to keep billing me!! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME AND DONT USE THEM!!!

The communication, or lack there of, is terrible. We received Ynyl subscription as a Christmas gift. We received one shipment and that was it. We get emails
telling us that a shipment is on the way, but it never arrives. This company is a scam. Save your money!

I wish I could give them 0 stars. First of all they make you fill out this extensive profile to “curate” music to your tastes and then send you random records that are nothing like your stated genres or artists. I signed up for the 3 records a month for 3 months membership and have been charged $200 and received one shipment of records in the last 5 months. BUT if I cancel the membership so I don’t get charged again they won’t send the 15 records I have already paid for. Not to mention it is IMPOSSIBLE to get someone on the phone and it takes weeks to get an email back. This has been the WORST experience I have had with any company in regards to price, quality, and customer service. Save your money and buy your own records. Vnyl is a scam.

I’m so disappointed in this company. I signed up in January and didn’t get a notification about my order until feb. for 2 months it was in preshipment at usps. I reached out numerous times and they never took responsibility.

Unapproved credit card charges on what was supposed to be a gift! Not responding to customers.

Update: I have spoken to a customer service rep. Refuses to refund the card. Deceptive marketing and bad customer service is scary combo. For the record, nothing has shipped out and we haven't requested for any additional shipments. So we're just at a standstill: Themsitting with my friends money (who was under the impression this was a gift), us requesting a refund, and no shipments being sent. Nothing is happening.

If I could leave negative stars I would. They charged me in March, and I still haven't received anything two months later. You can sign up online, but you can't cancel online. They suggest for you to call them, but don't pick up the phone, and rarely call you back. The only thing I have found helpful is to be relentless to get a response. Also, they have multiple complaints on BBB.

Charged me twice without sending me anything, they make it very hard to cancel, they won't respond to any inquiries. They've shut down their instagram comments, so I suspect they have been getting bad feedback on there. This company is a scam.

I agree with everyone who says these guys are a scam, a joke, a ripoff, etc. My son has been trying to cancel for over 6 months having only received one record but still being charged every month. I'm trying to persuade him to register a complaint with the BBB. Terrible!
