Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 44 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people found the associated app consistently problematic, often not working, crashing, or providing unhelpful information. Customers reported that the device frequently failed to accurately detect vehicle issues or incorrectly indicated a healthy status despite significant problems. Several consumers also experienced poor customer service, describing it as slow and ineffective in resolving their reported issues. However, some customers found the device useful for vehicle tracking and appreciated the peace of mind it offered on journeys. A few other people also felt that the installation was easy and the app, for them, was simple to use.

If I could give 0 stars I would

What a joke. Plug it in nothing ring them and they say it’s a technical fault. No one can tell me how long it will take. Been waiting 9 days and was told others have been waiting over 30 days. What kind of business practice is this. I wouldn’t expect this from such a large company. No offer of a replacement unit, no explanation of what is affecting myself and others, no idea if the waiting time. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

Vixa (ownef and run by theAA) subscription

Vixa is owned and run by theAA.

It worked well at the beginning but not anymore.

Their app says there is a critical issue with the car but they don’t say what.

I booked my car into one of their recommended garages (31/07/2025) for a diagnostics check.

TheAA told me to get my car there by 09:00am, which I did.

The garage told me that my appointment was 01:00 instead. The garage said that they told theAA about this.

I sent customer support an email about this but I didn’t hear anything from them.

I agreed to leave my car with the garage and they agreed to tell me when it was ready.

TheAA hadn’t told them what the problem was with the car. I explained that there was an error on the dashboard but that had disappeared.

Before taking my car to the garage, I used a OBD2 reader which told me that there aren’t any error messages with the car. I decided I would take the car to the garage as the diagnostic check was free.

I didn’t hear anything from the garage so I returned to the garage at 04:00pm.

I got drenched going home and returning to the garage.

I was told that they couldn’t find anything wrong with the car.

They suggested that I have my clutch replaced and if that didn’t work they will try something else. They were waiting for theAA to authorise the work.

I declined to have the clutch replaced.

I took my car to another garage, 01/08/2025, to have the clutch checked. They said the clutch is fine.

I tried to cancel the subscription, via their app, but I was told I couldn’t because I have an outstanding booking - for 15/04/2024. As that is last year and I only took out a subscription this year, their app is useless.

I sent Vixa an email to cancel the subscription.

Their feedback from theAA’s Vixa, to my email, is that they have costed a replacement clutch at £1, 100.06. They say that until the clutch is replaced the garage will not know if their diagnosis is correct. As if I have such money to waste.

Thanks for flagging this, Colin. We know it's frustrating when the app doesn't reflect what's going on in your car. We've identified the bug that's affecting how some issues are displayed, and we're working to resolve it. We've also shared your feedback with our technical and garage partners directly to improve future communications.

Load of rubbish

Claims in their fancy adverts about how good it is yet when I got it set up the settings were absolutely minimal. The battery health and driving score feature doesn't work at all ethier leaving just the engine health stat thats working. Litteraly all that says is 'good' there's no details or stats to go with it.

One slightly good feature is the tracker for your car but paying for a monthly subscription for something a smart tag can do just as well for no subscription.

Overall I think it's an absolute waste of money and doesn't have anything close to the features as its competitors such as carista.

We appreciate your honest feedback, Ben. Features like battery health and driving score take a bit of time and regular vehicle use to calibrate, but we’re working on making this clearer in the app. We'd welcome your input if you wanted to give more feedback in one of our customer research sessions.
