Finish quality on their black torquer 450 exhaust is terrible.
I have had Vance & Hines exhaust systems on my motorcycles for as long as I can remember. Always love the quality and sound, but that has changed today. I bought a 2022 Harley Davidson Ultra, brand new from Fort Wayne Harley Davidson back in 2022. I still have my 2004 Harley Davidson Fatboy - with a Vance & Hines exhaust system, which seems to still be near perfect, despite having over 50,000 miles on it. When I bought my ultra, I knew exactly what exhaust system I wanted to put on it. There was no question in my mind that it was going to be Vance & Hines. I rarely ride the Ultra, and typically only take it out when my wife and I want to take a scenic cruise through the country, or a trip to the lake. I still ride my FLSTFI or Sporty 95% of the time. The Ultra has less than 5000 miles on it - and doesn’t get taken out when I know it’s going to rain, and is still in pristine condition otherwise. It’s very clear that the motorcycle is not abused, nor is it ever left out in the weather, but I noticed about a month ago that there was a rust spot on the side of the right side slip on (Left side is perfect, so that tells me that there might’ve just been an issue with the finish application on this side). The bike is and has been in a garage, with three other motorcycles, 90% of its life. There is no reason for a rust spot to develop on this exhaust with so few miles unless the product was faulty from the manufacturer. I would question it, even if the motorcycle had 15,000 or 20,000 miles on it, but less than 5,000, kept in a garage, and it’s already rusting? That screams to me, - *Quality problem*! I reached out to Vance & Hines through Fort Wayne Harley Davidson to see if there was anything they are willing to do for me on this, since I have been a loyal customer Vance & Hines for years, but they declined to do anything about it. I get that the bike was purchased late in the season, 2022, which I only put a couple hundred miles on it before the season was over, but wow! I did not expect such low quality from a high priced motorcycle exhaust manufacturer. I was hoping they would stand behind their product, but no. This will be the last set of Vance & Hines exhaust systems that I purchase. They lost a loyal customer, over what probably cost them less than $100 to make. I would’ve been happy to install it myself, if they would’ve said “Yeah, it shouldn’t be rusting! We’ll send you the right side slip on right away!”
Just be aware, if you are looking to purchase their product, that Vance & Hines quality seems to be declining, at least from my perspective.
I will not have rusty parts on an otherwise pristine $30,000 motorcycle with less than 5000 miles on the clock, so I am looking for a new exhaust provider. Several of the riders that I ride with agree that there’s a clear problem with this exhaust.
Brand new set of pipes that less than 150 miles baffle broke in half rattling inside pipe. Contacted they sent new pipescthat were wrong pipes then told ne they were discontinued they can't replace. Now they dont even respondcto messages or return phone call that I was told they'll call me back in ten minutes about 48 hours ago. Very disappointed horrible customer service and evidently dont stand behind their products. If looking for new pipes id definitely look past trance and Hines
Filled out their review multiple times, but not one post. So makes one wonder if their on page reviews are even real…
Vance & Hines 4 1/2" Torquer 450 Slip-On Mufflers For Harley Touring 2017-2026
Product came damaged from Revzilla, but boxes were fine, so must be from manufacturer(?). Luckily dent was hidden by bag. It was a separate dent than the intended mounting purposeful dent. Started flaking paint/coating after first ride. VH does not warranty that, according to Rev and Rev says, they cannot help.
VH has ignored my emails and reviews too .
I don’t even want to give 1 star as the customer service support is so poor
Bought V&H 450 Torquer slip on exhausts. Within 7 months they completely rusted through the can and the alloy tips flaked and lost their chrome. The body of the exhausts rusted around the mounting points. I always wanted a harley, and to own V&H pipes after hearing them so often. To say I am disappointed is an understatement after spending £650, and only being on for less than 7 months. I don't live near the coast or have subjected them to any excessive moisture and kept them clean. In the end, I opted for S&S Mk45 slip ons.
The Vance and Hines company customer’s support team of Mark and his so called supervisor Cindy Ponce. Was extremely degrading and callous towards the fact that the power dual header I purchased cracked at the weld. Clearly a manufacturer defect as shown in pictures I sent them. Instead of replacing at no cost. Wants to replace for, at first over $300.00, then went to down to $189.00. Telling me they would send me a replacement but I have to cover manufacture cost. So disappointing from a company I have dealt with for so many years and so many products.
In all my years of biking, I never came across a more unreasonable company as the California based Vance and Hines. I paid $550.00 for a new aftermarket Vance & Hines slip-on exhaust that rusted beyond use in less than 2 months.
I belong to a forum and let all know about my experience with Vance and Hines. Other trusting V&H customers came forward with the same problem. Appears to be a significant fault in the engineering of the Vance and Hine's slip-on exhaust for the 2023 Honda SCL500. The use of a 2 1/2" pipe that will rust badly, regardless of weather conditions, is Vance and Hines problem at hand. Their warranty guidelines to swap pipes, at owner's expense, will not solve your problem as the replacement pipe will rust badly too.
You really should man-up and give all of us who trusted your family owned business a refund.
Used it for several months, but started getting some strange reading saying that there was no ECU present. My motorbike suddenly broke down and has been unusable since. The ECM is damaged and, according to the Harley dealership, they have seen this several times. So, £520 for a new ECM + fitting charge + retune - the FP3 has cost me around £1500.
