They Keep YOU SPINNiNG, So YOU CAN’T ACCESS YOUR HEALTHCARE. Profits for them! Nothing for YOU!
If I could rate ZERO STARS, I surely would. I have been on this AARP Medicare Plan for 31 days in January 2024. This company puts you through the “SIT AND SPIN CYCLE, which is a ploy, I’m fully convinced, to keep you from accessing your healthcare. You reach one person, answer every verification question, to be able to ask your question, just to be shuffled somewhere else. Then, same process, next call rep, rinse later and repeat! I spent at least two hours going from a total of 6 call reps.
This is nonsense! Why are we paying our premiums, and wasting our precious life each day, to access our healthcare, IN SPITE OF OUR HEALTHCARE!!
I recently read on the internet that “Unitedhealthcare is the Crown Jewel of Healthcare”. Who ever wrote that article must not be a member!
I sat and spun filing a prior authorization for a generic, highly effective, low cost drug that wasn’t on their formulary. The drug was about $100/30 day supply.Too much! I had my doctor submit a prior authorization, for a cost of $97/30 day supply. What? My last insurance was with Medicare, and I received the drug for zero cost, every month. Not this cheapskate insurance! My tier exception came back approved for October 2024, while it’s only January 2024. Then somehow, it was approved, while simultaneously being denied. It was approved for $97/30 day supply! Wow! What a great deal. Not! Then I received a letter that it was denied, due to being a non-formulary drug.
This company has tried to make me lose my mind, as their business practices are unethical, profited driven, and actually, keep you from actually using your healthcare.
Jump ship now if you can. Unitedhealthcare is a TRAIN WRECK. I have made at least 50 hours worth of phone calls this 31 WONDERFUL days to GET A WHOLE OF NOTHING!
I DO NOT recommend UNITEDHEALTHCARE! ❌❌❌
UHC discriminates against disabilities
UHC discriminates against disabilities. They do not help those who have limitations. They will not assist you when you call them. I have vision and memory deficits. They instead decide that it is best to have you do everything yourself. So I decided it was best to file a Civil Rights Discrimination Complaint.

Impossible to understand phone calls
Impossible to understand phone calls. Loud background noise, cheep phone headsets, heavy Phillipines accent, phone constantly breaking up. I had 2 other people listening in on phone call and they couldn't understand UnitedHealthcare representatives.
Untrustworthy, unprofessional, unreliable.
This complaint is about the UnitedHealthCare Insurance Company. I find them untrustworthy, unprofessional, unreliable.
On Friday, November 24, 2023, I applied for supplemental insurance for 2024 through an agent of AskChapter a medicare broker company.
The agent suggested AARP-UHC because the rate was $149.62. So, she took me through the underwriting process – where I answered a large number of questions. I then filled in an application and put in my signature in several places on the form. I was also required to provide my bank information including routing number and account number.
I received an email from UHC on Tuesday, November 28 saying that my application was accepted and that I had been accepted for coverage at the higher premium Level 2 Rate ($433-$436, much higher than the $149.62 I had applied for).
I would expect that since the rate was so high, UHC would check with me to review and confirm the rate before proceeding to charge me. But they did not check with me.
I contacted the AskChapter agent and was informed that she could not help me and that I needed to contact UHC directly to cancel my plan.
I contacted UHC, on December 01, 2023, at the number (1-800-630-1648) provided to me and spoke with Mecca V (ID MeccaV-12-12-023) a customer representative. I told her that I did not want to go ahead with the plan and wanted to cancel it. She told me that I would receive a cancellation letter ten days after the termination date – January 01, 2024. When I asked for an email, I was told that sending an email was not the procedure. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was connected to one after a lot of reluctance.
The supervisor, David Breckman, I was connected to also indicated that sending emails was not the procedure. When I insisted on an email, he said I would get one in 24 hours. Three weeks have passed since then, and I have not gotten any email yet. It seems to me that he said what he said to get rid of me.

this insurance sucks it pays for nothing and the navigators are useless i been with united healthcare 2 yrs now they told me i had 3500 hundred dollars in dental but no one takes it i got 4 open nerves in my mouth i cant get any thing done fir it unless i fill it full of super glue myself to stop the pain they were supposed have a medi ride service to take to and from the DR appointments so when i scheduled they never showed up made me miss my appointment stay far away from this company im done with them
Forced to use online pharmacy
I do not appreciate being forced to use OptumRx. I have no idea if my meds are still good because i have no idea how long they sat in an overheated truck. If they don't start covering brick and mortar pharmacies I will be using another health insurance carrier next year. Quite honestly UnitedHealthcare, your greed is showing.
I'm paying out of pocket for a…
I'm paying out of pocket for a mammogram. Not sure why I am paying for insurance if they can't cover preventative care.
My first and last year with this insurance company
I had a chipped tooth and my dentist recommended a crown. The tooth holds my partial bridge. My dental coverage is $1100/year. I paid close to $2000 and the tooth was drilled down and a partial crown put on and I was scheduled for a follow-up appointment in a few weeks to get the permanent one. I got a paper from United Healthcare showing they paid about $1100. The day of my follow-up appointment I got a phone call from the dentist saying United Healthcare denied my claim and I would have to pay the remaining $1100. I did not have the money so I still have the temporary crown, for 6 weeks now. I called United Healthcare and was told the “pre-auth” approved the procedure but now it is denied. So I have a temporary crown that will not last long, a tiny fragment of a tooth left when it falls off and can’t wear my partial now because I don’t want to dislodge the temporary crown. Their dental coverage is worthless.
Horrible experience
Horrible experience! App was not working so I called, was on the phone for hours, no one speaks English which makes for a really hard time when giving directions, tried to send me to an address that doesn’t exist because it was inside a CVS that has a separate address from the inside clinic. On the phone 5 different times for several hours total all with 101.6 fever and in the end I went to a minute clinic & paid with my credit card! I will be changing my insurance as soon as open enrollment hits! I was denied my dermatologist appointment (the day of after it took 5 months to get) even with a referral from my doctor, they would let me see the derm but he was not allowed to remove any suspicious areas which being Irish & born & raised in FL I have NEVER been to the derm without having something cancerous removed! They wanted me to go see the derm, have him note any areas of concern then have me come back, check the areas again if still of concern make a 3rd appointment to remove. So have cancer, know it’s there & do nothing, NO THANK YOU! I paid for the derm out of my pocket too. Basically with UHC I basically pay them for nothing as I end up paying for my healthcare services out of my own pocket as they appear to be useless!!
Customer service sucks big time !!!
I have been trying for several months to get UHC to send me a card with the correct primary doctor listed on the card. When I give them the name they advised he isn't certified. I advised them numerous times that he is certified and the medical group he works with. I have finally went to the insurance guy that sold me the policy who then had to switch me to another Dr. that is with the same medical group. For some reason that UHC never explained, the first primary doctor was not on their list. Also it is difficult to understand the customer service people because they are mostly foreign speaking people. I would give UHC a -0 on any survey for satisfaction. I will probably switch back to my other insurance company the first of the upcoming year.
Online Agony
The Worst online service. I have to change my password every time I log on! Then go through a tedious process to get a new PW. And once you get to the site, it's very poorly arranged.
your representatives are liars and you…
your representatives are liars and you have made many life threatening mistakes with my medical this year as mistakenly saying i wasn't covered for a scan then next appointment approving me for transportation to Dallas and not calling me back to let me know after giving me conformation number that you canceled because of distance so i now owe for a visit i did not make and did not get the arterial scan i need. and you feel its ok to waste 7 hours of my life to dallas the 1St time for nothing and the second time you cost me money and the opportunity to find another ride that shows you dont care about my health at all
If I could give UnitedHealthCare 0…
If I could give UnitedHealthCare 0 stars, I would because this is the absolute worst health insurance company. They are barely accepted anywhere and I can't hardly find any Dentist that I need. Please avoid this insurance company. When they give you a list of Doctors, the list is outdated and not updated
Never available
Whenever I call I'm redirected to a voice mail for someone who never answers their calls or returns voice mail messages. When I email or write in via their website, I'm told I have to call. When I click ask a question on one of my claims and write out my questions, I get an auto response telling me to call. As I browse the website I get a chat pop up offering to help me, I ask my question there. I get an autoresponse telling me I need to call and that I wont be supported by chat, email or otherwise. Why do I pay this much for insurance again?

UnitedHealthcare Health Insurance review
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I called them before some major testing that I had to have and asked for coverage/pricing for these tests. Everything they told me was a lie. Ex: Your xray is 100% covered yet I had to pay a copay when I got there. I called to ask how this happened. Twice Sheila and Josefina said they would call me back to address my concerns or a manager would and since 2/8/2023 I have not heard back from anyone. I am going thru some health concerns right now and they are NO HELP!!! They are actually causing me more stress. Avoid using them if you can.

this is the worst company to use in fl and find the company hard to deal with have had it for 30+ years and now need a change as this company sucks. can not find a doctor in ormond beach fl that will take this pos ins. get away run find a useful insurance
Worst customer service
Worst customer service. Every time I need to make a call, they at least transfer 3 lines and ask me for the member ID, DOB and Name at least 6 times (including automated robot response between transfer lines). Each time it took about 40 minutes to 2 hours of call time to resolve any issues.
If only I could give a zero—outdated or wrong information
If only I could give a zero. This insurance is terrible. Colorado Doctors Plan is hardly accepted in Denver. Great physicians won’t accept them because reimbursement is such a headache. Customer service is the absolute worst. I asked for a list of in-network urgent care facilities in my area and most of them are private who charge a flat entry fee of nearly $200 just to walk in the door because they are not actually in-network. When I called member services they insisted there were only two in-network facilities. One was an urgent care for pediatrics. The other was Bozeman Health UrgentCare (only a PO Box address in CO) which, as I suspected, is only in Montana. I tried to tell the person and she asked if I wanted to continue waiting on hold (for Bozeman) all while the automated waiting messaging was going on loudly over her voice and I could hardly understand her. I said no, I need an urgent care in Colorado. She left the call and transferred me to the Bozeman waiting line. I couldn’t believe it. What’s more infuriating is the UHC website list of current providers is grossly outdated. The first 6 primary care doctors I selected all no longer worked (retired) or changed locations and now out of network. The last one I had them make all the phone calls until they found a legit, eligible, available PCP is so old and outdated in his systems that I can’t get an appointment until I can find a fax machine and fax the documents (some links broken on their site) downloaded from their insecure (no https) website. It’s just ridiculously hard to get quality care and be able to actually use this insurance. The screwed up thing about all this is that it was the MOST expensive plan my employer offered which made me assume it would enable me to get the best care.
Not. True. What you pay for is not aways what you get. Go with Kaiser if you’re willing to have poorly educated doctors but ease of care. Otherwise, God only knows if there’s a better more widely accepted insurance provider in Colorado.
Worst Customer Service Ever
Well I can not access my account on line. The numbee they have for me to unlock account is wrong so cnat get code. I called 1st time on hold for 45 minutes. Talked to lady I barely could understand. after another 15 minutes on phone with her we somehow got disconnected (not on my end). They verified the number I was calling from so she could have called back. I then called the number given to unlock my account and they couldnt help me so gave me another number. I am not on hold for over one hour and a half. I have been dealing with this for over 4 hours and still no help. Worst customer service I have ever seen. All I want to do is to sign into my account as they keep saying on the voice message I have been listening to for over an hour.
