Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 57 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the service, finding it difficult to get benefits paid and experiencing issues with non-renewal or cancellation despite paying premiums. Customers also reported problems with payment processes, particularly with mileage reimbursement and dental coverage, where payments were partial or denied. The pricing of drugs on the website was often unclear and higher than expected, even compared to options without insurance. Reviewers frequently encountered unhelpful staff and poor customer service, with difficulties reaching English-speaking representatives and getting clear answers. Conversely, some people were satisfied with specific customer service interactions, highlighting representatives who were patient, kind, knowledgeable, and acted as advocates, providing clear explanations and follow-through. These positive experiences suggest that while general sentiment is negative, individual staff members can make a significant difference.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

For the last 3 months we have contacted UHC about our U-cards not not working for over the counter supplements. Which we always lookup the upc first to see if the product is covered, however for the last 3 months when at the register it refuses the card. We have gotten no where with customer services. They never return calls when promised and when we ask for the CEO email they gave us someone who was no longer with UHC. We called back and the next supposedly supervisor wouldn't give us any emails to someone in the corporate office to help resolve the issue with our cards. We'll definitely be lookfor another Medicare insurance company! By the way you can find any CEO or Operational manager numbers and emails on Rocket Search or LinkedIn.

UHC is the absolute worst

My very necessary surgery was just derailed because UHC denies everything as a first response. The time my doctor has spent fighting and appealing to get me the treatment I need would be so much better spent on patient care and improving patient outcomes. This company is inherently evil, there is zero good faith and they are knowingly and willingly causing suffering to people in an attempt to not pay for needed care and clumisly masking their strategy as patient advocacy. I just hope the choices made in this life have an impact in the next.

United healthcare RX drug nightmare plan

I have to say with all the prescription drug plans I’ve ever had, this United healthcare RX drug plan has to be the worst I ever had. If I could give it a zero I would the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. I called them to straighten out an issue I had with Walgreens a prescription I had and I was on the telephone with the United healthcare supplement plan for four hours back-and-forth trying to resolve my problem. I kept getting mixed prices. United healthcare supplement plan and Walgreens was telling me that it was another price after four attempts. United healthcare supplement plan tried to explain why I was paying so much for a prescription that was $283 for 30 day supply when all the other insurance companies quoted me $40 for the same prescription trying to call them is a nightmare. You have to answer 5000 questions before they even attempt to connect you so I say anyone looking to take out United healthcare supplement plan run the other way I promise if you don’t, you will regret it wholeheartedly sincerely John Schenck

Avoid prescription coverage with United…

Avoid prescription coverage with United Healthcare. Last year I had them and everything was great. This year they raised their prices to ridiculous amounts and did not let me know on internet site. Caused me to bounce checks. Cancelled my coverage and they continued billing me for months and did not allow me to obtain prescriptions and then told me had to disenroll. They basically laughed at me. B.S.

couldn't give a hoot

Sadly, I did not have a choice when picking my healthcare insurance provider; it was chosen by my employer, who got the cheapest out there..... My doc prescribed something for me, due to some issues I was having, but they denied the rx. When you go to their site, it shows you need to be on sleep apnea to get it. I've been using a sleep apnea machine for 5 years now.. With no contact, no research within their own records, nope, denied. These people couldn't care two hoots about your health; they are not there to help, they are there to take your money and do the least amount of work as possible.

I have to share a rare customer service…

I have to share a rare customer service experience with United Healthcare. In the past, I’ve honestly felt frustrated dealing with them and even told friends to avoid them. But today I spoke with someone named Kimberly who completely changed that experience.

She didn’t treat the call like a script or a checklist. She treated it like advocacy. She even said, “I’m not just a phone agent, I’m an advocate, and I advocate for you.” And she meant it. She solved my issue and actually called me back when she said she would.

If United Healthcare had more people like Kimberly and trained their staff with that same mindset, I truly believe it would fix more than half of the terrible reviews people leave. Good customer service like that makes a huge difference.

So credit where it’s due. Thank you, Kimberly, for actually helping and following through.

Worst portal EVER

Worst portal EVER! Clearly written by a programmer who had not a clue of ever using it. They will send links to your email for different things, but it always takes you to "This link has expired. Please contact the sender of the email for more information." If you contact them, they have not a clue. In addition, they coverage they offer goes down each year while the price continues to go up. Ya, no. Stay away from this company.

Every time we call

Every time we call, the person we speak with does not understand English enough to answer any of our questions. They also refuse, although apologize profusely, to transfer us to someone in the United States so we can solve the current problem.

Years ago I thought this was the best… sense
Years ago I thought this was the best insurance, now it’s gone way down, now you have to get referrals to see a specialist ,even though you’ve been seeing the specialist for years, which is totally uncalled for of having to get a doctor to write you out 4 to 5 referrals and send them to the office ,not to mention how they went down on the glasses and don’t hardly give you anything you used to get two pair glasses now you’re lucky if you get one, the representatives you call and ask them questions and they have no idea even what you’re talking about, or they know nothing. Apparently they don’t mind losing customers because I will be one gone as soon as I get through this year and I’m sure they’ll lose more’!!

The white United Healthcare card does…

The white United Healthcare card does not ever work. Only certain items are approved and even those items never go through.
A waste of space and existence entirely.
Do not make the mistake of switching your healthcare over to this poor excuse of an insurance company.

United Healthcare cancelled my insurance for non-payment while it was actually pulling payments from my checking account - now I'm uninsured for up to 30 days while they figure this out??? How can we fix this right away? And as I talk to customer service I realize that they are actually pulling out even more than I owe.

The Scummiest Company In America

I have received misdials from over 300 United HealthCare clients calling to file or inquire to claims. United HealthCare has been made aware of this for several weeks, and have acknowledged the issue (when I was finally able to reach a human instead of the AI agent). However it has not been fixed.

This is a deliberate tactic so they do not even have to hear from the clients paying hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars a months for their services so they can deny their very client base.

I have never dealt with a more evil, malicious, and greedy corporate entity in my life. This is a criminal enterprise backed by the federal government and should be dismantled.

Insurance synonymous with Scams

First deductible was roughly $16K
Second deductible was roughly $4k
Thereafter the insurance Co. should be responsible, however they try to NOT pay unless you fight them and the they continue to offer excuses and every time you call to speak to a supervisor the calls seem to "get disconnected" (how convenient) then you must begin anew with another Supervisor.
Eventually I mailed requested information to them via Certified mail which requires a signature two times and then made copies and shared with my lawyer. They can no longer escape their responsibility going forward with this and other evidence obtained.

UnitedHealthcare - Golden Rule Ins. Co. has the lowest star for many legitimate reasons.
The pivotal role of the CEO, Patrick F. Carr that helped increase the annual sales of $2.2 billion is stolen from the customers that they allegedly serve.
This review reflects all employees underneath the CEO and especially Patrick F. Carr.
