The right company

So, my truck broke down on me and it turned out to be the transmission. Call united car care and they had it towed to the closest dealer but it was supposed to go to the contracted dealer. United care care had the vehicle towed to the correct dealer, approved the work and everything was smooth. The bill came to $7,010 and again, I paid the $100 deductible. This place is great and I will continue to use them. Also, Ted at United Car Care was awesome. Thank you.

Do not buy this warranty!

Our truck has been in the shop for 2 weeks. We have a warranty with United Car Care and it turns out we need a new engine. They denied the claim on the basis of a “pre existing condition” from a previous owner (we bought it when it had 40,109 miles). WE PROVIDED EVERY RECEIPT FOR TIMELY OIL CHANGES during our ownership. Now, we can’t get anyone on the phone to resolve the issue. Never, ever, purchase this warranty for a used vehicle, or any vehicle for that matter. They are shady and will just ghost you when you need them. At the VERY LEAST, we should get our money back for purchasing this terrible “warranty”.

Hi Jessica,
There seems to be some confusion regarding the reason for denial of your claim. To clarify, purchased the vehicle on 11/19/2019 at 40,109 miles. The claim was called in on 10/31/2023 at 122,589 miles. Teardown of the engine revealed that the engine was full of sludge, causing a lack of lubrication, which our claims manager explained to your husband on 11/13/2023. He conveyed that our denial had nothing to do with your vehicle being previously owned and that the sludge build-up could have occurred within the last 82k miles (under your ownership). We understand it is frustrating to have a claim denied, particularly when you're facing a costly repair, but engine failure due to lack of lubrication as a result of sludge build up is not covered by your policy. We hope we can provide a more favorable outcome for you on future repairs.

2011 BMW 328XI

I had misfire issues and took it to the BMW dealership. They found the issue and also a leak. They contacted UCC, they got the approval right away and got the work started and it was covered. I had read many good and bad reviews, from my own experience it was a hassle free process and the dealer said the customer service was excellent when dealing with UCC

Thank you

Awful

Awful. Awful. Awful.
The inspector is representing your outfit. If UCC needs my mechanic to demonstrate something (to the inspector you sent), have the inspector ask them to demo. My mechanic isn't going to read their (your company's inspector) mind.

Hi Cam,
Thank you for getting back to us with additional information. We were able to review your claim, which appears to still be in process, awaiting further work from the repair facility. In response to your review, while the inspection service we contract is an independent company and does not represent United Car Care, we appreciate you bringing the issues you experienced to our attention. We apologize for any inconvenience and will work with the inspection company to make sure future inspections are handled as efficiently and professionally as possible.

Hi Cam,
We are needing additional information to identify your policy and review the circumstances of your claim. Can you please respond with a direct message here or call (833) 815-2503, reference #101154, and provide us with your contract number or the last six digits of the VIN?

Seems like the only answer you give. When the car breaks down, we don't cover that. This is the first extended warranty I've ever bought, and it will be the last.

Hi Celestino,
We would like to clarify a couple of the statements in your review. First, we have not denied your repair. We are waiting on further documentation from you, but we will get back to that in a moment. Second, the cost to replace your vehicle's engine had no bearing on our moving forward with the claim (again, your claim is still open; it has not been denied).
Lastly, as we explained to your son when he called us yelling and cussing at our adjusters and, later, to you, we request copies of maintenance records for claims where the mechanical failure (in your vehicle's case, a knocking rod) may be due to neglect of the vehicle. As is allowed by the contract you purchased, we simply need to make sure that you maintained your vehicle per the manufacturer's standard (manufacturer-recommended oil changes, etc.), and that the breakdown is not a result of a failure to have the vehicle serviced.
Again, your claim has not been denied, and we are happy to move forward with the claims process once you provide us with your maintenance records, which should not be many, as you have only had the vehicle a few years and driven fewer than 40k miles.

If you want to waist your money this is a great place to do it. Iv had 3 issues with my truck in 3 year and they have covered nothing. My truck has been in the shop for two week wanting for them to make a decision even tho it states in the contract that the turbo is covered. If you use this warranty company you will be really disappointed and paying for any fixes out of pocket

Extended warranty not being honored by UCC

I purchased an extended car warranty contract from United Car Care through Hgreg when I bought my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe back in August, 2020 with 43k miles.

I had all required maintenance done on the car since then and never had any issues. In December, 2022 I felt that my car was struggling to accelerate (about 18k miles have been put on the car since August, 2022) and started stalling when attempting to increase speed. I had it towed to a local mechanic in West Boca and they told me that my car was making noise and that my engine needed to be replaced.

I then had it towed to Hyundai in Coconut Creek, FL because I wanted Hyundai to handle the issue and get a second opinion. The mechanic who has been handling my car since I brought it in (at the time of this email, about 2 months) said that the Rod Bearings failed resulting in damage to the engine. My car came in to Hyundai with full, clean oil. That mechanic has 40 years of experience. The mechanic also said there were metal shavings in the oil pan and engine, indicating a breakdown of the rod bearings.

UCC demanded that the mechanic tear down the entire engine in order to prove the failure beyond what was already presented to UCC through their own inspector and the mechanic at Hyundai.

The cost to tear down the engine was over $2,000.00 dollars. UCC said that they would pay ONLY if they approve the claim. Hyundai agreed to charge me only half. I paid $1,000.00 dollars out-of-pocket for them to, essentially, dismantle the entire engine.

UCC sent their inspector out who took videos and pictures. I have never received a copy of their report OR any correspondence in writing. They denied my claim. Their reason, which was given to me ‘verbally’ over the phone, was “failure of the rod bearings due to lack of lube and continue of operation”. Again, my car came in with clean oil and full.

Hgreg is pushing this company on their customers but when a claim actually is made, UCC does not want to pay these legitimate claims. I spent $3,800.00 dollars on this contract. My engine died with no warning other than some sluggish acceleration which I responded in a reasonable manner given the particulars of my experience with the car.

My Honda CV-R Timing Chain

My Honda CV-R was making noise when you would start it. But not consistently. Took it to the closest Honda dealer, which was an hour and a half away. Come to find out it was the timing chain. The coordination between the service department and the insurance was quick in easily taken care of.

BUYER BEWARE!

SAVE YOURSELF THE FRUSTRATION
My claim was denied for a part specifically listed and covered in my policy. UCC denied the claim and never provided me a written reason for the claim denial.

UCC did not respond to my written requests nor my voicemail message to the claims manager who my claim agent referred me to “Randy”.

UCC only responded to my online complaint with the following info (paraphrased)
‘The only way the transmission can fail this manner is if it were shifted into at a high RPM. The claim is denied.’

Implying driver misuse to avoid the repair claim, despite many existing documented cases online of this exact transmission failure.

I promptly canceled my policy and used the refund to pay for the repair.

SAVE YOURSELF THIS FRUSTRATION
I strongly recommend other potential UCC customers avoid this company…
Instead put the money you would have spent on the warranty in a savings account, for potential repairs. Avoid their false sense of coverage and the inevitable frustration and wasted time.

Sharing my experience here, with the hopes of saving others from this frustration.

horrible business practice.... but atleast they are paying something

My f150 water pump went out, united car care accepted the claim to repair. although as decided they don't have to pay part of the labor or pay the tax on the bill and is now falling on me. my deductible is $250 and when all said and done I will owe about 1 third more of my deductible. which now comes out to $360 and some odd change. the company says they are exempt from sales tax! so the dealership has to charge me, also leaving behind $50 something dollar labor costs on me. UCC is not covering a grand total of $114.87. The total bill from the Ford Dealer is $794.76, I have now left 2 messages at claims managers mailbox. I have received no response in roughly 24 hours. When I call and ask about my situation I am left with I will be contacted when i am contacted, no time frame. my claims adjusters name is Joe. Also I do not see anyway on here to directly message you, you will have to be more specific in the replies, calling into company doesn't help at all.
