UniFab is a good product. I mainly use the converter which gives good results. But there are several bugs. First of all, why offer MP4 by default when the most common standard is MKV. And w... See more

I do not use the video features, only the upscale of audio for movies. I am not sure if it treats a source like E-AC3 5.1 correctly to upscale it to much higher bitrate DTS 7.1. I would like it to offer the option of keep all tracks but just restore, OR to try to create new tracks if it is stereo, but if it is a 5.1 source the AI should not change much for the center, front and rear, it should only fillout for the 6 and 7th channels. They are clear as to how it works with a stereo input, it uses AI and billions of samples to guess to change the signal itself and separate into channels that sound mixed in the studio from the start for surround sound. They are not clear if you can use 5.1 as a source, as their website says no, but when I asked a tech question they responded that yes it would enhance the audio and did not really answer my question, which was will it leave the surround and front channels and center channels in tact, which you would want. All I would want with a 5.1 input is to have their produce output DTS high bitrate 5.1 and improved channel separation etc, aka sounds better.

Excellent product for video encoding. Unifab has become my daily work tool, and I can't do without it. I really recommend it!

What would I do without UniFab? I need it to enhance the quality of videos I download and burn from CDs, DVDs, and BluRays, so that I may then convert them from 2D-to-3D. And who isn't watching *everything* in 3D these days? Losers. That's who. The losers. You need the DVDFab suite together with Owl3D so that you can convert GOT, Star Trek, documentaries, HBO/MAX series, etc. Otherwise, what is the point of being alive?

Love the software for what it does, and been using it for years to convert files and rip movies from disc. I still normally burn with Nero, however. The Fab products have historic issues with getting subtitles from .mkv when converting into .mp4, although at least the newer products seem to be getting them back down, in white, instead of center screen in massive blue (when they do correctly identify the subtitles as being present in the file). The only other negative is that when stopping a movie, burned with fab onto a bluray disc, it loses its place and will have to restart from the beginning, whereas burning with Nero, pressing 'stop' once, allows the movie to pick right back up where it was left.
[edit] this review IS of Unifab. Another issue I just had with Unifab was that version 13 of the software suite doesn't always get the audio converted the way I need it, and I have taken to using the converter from version 12, as that one does convert the audio properly.

Provides upscaling and smoothing as was hoping.

They have been hard at work fixing bugs with UniFab and so far it has improved greatly over the past year. Very easy to use, and converts files as needed very efficiently.

I love their products that work as promised, such as their video transcoder (now part of Unifab). Some of their newer, more graphics-intensive products have never worked for me, and their support always stalls out and I give up because it is so much work to keep going on and on with them and never getting anywhere/. I should try insisting on a refund but I never have yet. BE CAREFUL with them! They always try to get you to upgrade products you have already upgraded. And they promise certain things will be lifetime if you paid for lifetime, and then take some of those lifetime things away, and then require payment for them again. Very deceptive and unfair business practices. I really do not want to support them, but i use the transcoder all the time and some other stuff now and then, and I keep hoping the more intensive stuff will get fixed so I can try those also.

Denoise feature is not as effective as it should be and there is no way of adjusting the intensity, as there was on the trial version. Smoothing and upscaling caused the video to darken with no obvious improvement.
Having paid for a full perpetual licence, I was then invited to pay a further $127 per year for maintenance and upgrades.
I asked for refund but it was refused so I am now seeking a refund via my credit card company.

I've been using UniFab for about a year and I've found it does a decent job of converting SDR to HDR and is relatively fast depending on the CPU and GPU configuration. However upscaling videos often takes an extremely long amount of time (often <1 fps) and has some serious limitations compared with other professional video editing software. It does not offer the capability to simultaneously upscale resolution, reformat audio, and apply HDR AI models all in the same process to the same file. For example the user must first upscale the video then separately convert the upscaled video to HDR in a separate process.
I've recently switched to using NeoFootage AI which can upscale, convert audio, and convert SDR to HDR all in a single process - all at much faster speeds. It also uses the latest AI models. NeoFootage AI gives the user many more conversion options and is all around much better software for about the same price.

Don’t but from this company it is fraud they don’t refund?
Their software is useless it is unable to convert even 5 minutes videos
I tried many video and there is no output quality
So I request everyone don’t buy from them
It is scam
If there is zero or negative rating I give them
As for refund it is not big money but for this company may be worth
Cheaters, unprofessional

Fantastic Conversion, excellent picture quality.
Easy of downloading and using all the apps, which work well for the price.
Very easy to use, well worth it. Like their other products
Very good AI engine. Easy menues and interface. Exellent image quality for the files created.
DVDFab is great! Unifab is trash.
So this is going to be a review of my latest attempt to use Unifab. I see they fixed a thousand bugs so far, I have my hopes up!
I purchased a lifetime License years back, A long time before Unifab ever existed, I was able to use DVD Fab for converting and it did a decent job.
Ever Since Unifab came around as a separate tool, separate download, separate update and all that, it has been. . . . well . . . . buggy beyond use.
I mostly used it to down convert videos from my friends that they share to a reasonable size. Some of my friends encode a single TV Show episode to 1920x1080 (1080p) and the episode will be over 2 GiB in size. Naturally I cant long term store many seasons of that. So I down convert it to a reasonable size of approx 500 MiB per file.
I can no longer do that with Unifab. There are just too many bugs and limitations now. To start off with, As of today 10/17/2024, I drop a 2GiB file in the Unifab tool and click Format, Even if I click 720p video output and slide the slider ALL THE WAY DOWN TO LOW, The lowest it will output video size is 1.21 GiB even on 720p for a 50 minute TV show episode.
I am attempting to convert it to MKV - 480p right now (Super low resolution) and my file only drops to 1.4GiB in size, and when I slide the slider quality to low, I get a minimum of 875mb file size. Thats just ridiculously large for such a tiny format.
I just cant get file sizes down to where I need them now using this tool no matter what I select.
It has put me in a position where I have to go online and find them already resized by someone else at 1080p and 500mb to get them how I need them now.
So basically Unifab has become useless because their focus is on bigger filesizes not smaller ones.
Other bugs include things like Dropping a file into Converter, Clicking Settings on a video, Then clicking "Save My Profile" button at the top, When I click it, I can change the name of the new profile, but there is no "OKAY" or "SAVE" button. As a matter of fact, There just are no buttons at all on that box. I can only press the "X" in the upper corner and when I do that, it saves nothing.
So you dont make custom profiles now due to bugs. Its just not possible now under the current Unifab.
And the most irritating bug of all time is . . . . The "APPLY TO ALL" formatting and settings button just doesnt work at all.
I can literally drop a whole season of my favorite TV Show into Unifab, select the first one, make custom fomatting and conversion settings and when I click "APPLY TO ALL" button at the bottom, it closes the settings window and literally does nothing to the other episodes.
It has gotten to the point where if i use Unifab for conversion, I just do one episode at a time. Because I can edit only one episode at a time, adding more than that is just risky and waste of time because I cant get the settings to migrate to the other episodes.
Also, on a side note, Another bug is that "Encoding Method" 1-pass works so well that it works no matter what you select. Even if you select 2-pass you still get only 1-pass. There is no hope in increasing video quality using 2-pass method. It will do only 1-pass and its done.
I probably still have a very old copy of DVDFab 14 or 12 or something. Even though the codecs are old and out of date it does a far better job shrinking file sizes than Unifab does hands down. I might be able to get Nero or some other company to do it if i have to.
I just feel like Unifab is a total loss to me. Even though I paid for a lifetime license I have lost the ability to use the tool because of the bugs and problems and the fact that it will only make monster file sizes now.
So I still love DVD Fab! Best DVD Ripper and BluRay Ripper on the market! I just need to find a new tool for converting I guess.

Unifab gives you extras that you don't get with other AI software... Audio up-mixing, vocals removal, converting from one format to another, HDR Up-converter, video compressor etc. You just get more bang for your buck, and you can install it on 5 PC's. It offers extras like upscaling the audio track from 2.0 Stereo to 5.1 or 7.1
