Artur and his team made this a memorable trip where we made some great friends.
The cabin was spacious with lots of storage space and room under the bed for unpacked cases. Lots of plugs and charging points. The bathroom was well configured and the complimentary shampoo, body wash etc were of a good quality. The bed was really comfortable with two huge pillows! Our housekeeper was invisible in a good way! The bedroom was always well cleaned and there were options for frequency of change of towels.
The food was delicious with a great deal of choice and options. Desert pastries were freshly made and snacks provided throughout the day, including fresh fruit. Wines served were of a good quality.
The guides were very knowledgeable and stayed throughout the trip.
Entertainment was at the right level, a couple of nights with traditional groups, a night of a very competitive general knowledge quiz and an hilarious karaoke night. It is clear that Artur is a great team leader and brings out the best in his team and so much goes on behind the scenes.
Salamanca was a lovely excursion but would suggest the guided tour is first before free time as there are definitely places you would want to revisit. The port wine tasting was the standout. We went on the optional tour to Guimaraes which we paid for. I was disappointed that there were no entries to places of interest and it was effectively a coach trip with a 30 minute walking tour which I didn’t think was particularly good value for money. The other two visits, one to the Mateus Palace was interesting although a lot of the gardens were overgrown, not sure that the Castelo Rodrigo was really worth the journey or the walking over the cobblestones.
The trip to Porto gave you the option of remaining in the city and catching the shuttle bus back.
The scenery was beautiful but if you were expecting the charm of the Rhine or the Danube you would be disappointed.
We had an issue with the pricing of this trip but settled it with the head office.
A really good holiday from start to finish. Excellent ship. Local guides onboard were brilliant especially Rita. Food excellent. Onboard entertainment good.
The staff were fantastic so helpful and friendly-all we came into contact with
The food was excellent- not one bad meal and the ship was superb
Overall the cruise was very good value but we were disappointed with the length of time in some towns. We were particularly keen to see Nuremberg but a quick bus tour and some spare time failed to deliver. The day was shared with Regensburg which was also very attractive and worthy of a longer stay. Conversely we spent almost a day and a half in Passau which wasn’t that interesting. A large number of passengers opted to take trips to Salzburg and the Czech Republic while the rest of us sailed to Linz. This bit of the journey was spoiled for us by the non stop inane piano music in the lounge - lift music is the best description. We were lucky however to get to Linz by early afternoon. A beautiful town worthy of a day to itself. The passengers who had gone off on trips arrived around 5pm and had little time to appreciate it.
We had to change ships halfway due to low water levels. That was very well handled by the staff. Our cruise direct, Andrew, was outstanding.Although the ships are identical, and you retain the same room number etc , our bed onboard the second ship wasn’t particularly comfortable due to a soft mattress.
I informed reception but I’m not convinced they did change it as it remained uncomfortable.
Staff on both ships were great , food was excellent, very good value overall and would certainly recommend. We had to walk through Viking ships a couple of times which is normal on river cruises as the ships berth side by side. The interior looked a bit more elegant and there appeared to be a quiet area , but I believe Viking are significantly more expensive.
If you’re new to river cruises, as we were, I would certainly give Travelmarvel a go.
The majority of your fellow travellers will be from Australia or New Zealand as the company is Australian owned.

Great staff and organisation. Bernadette the cruise director was brilliant.
Only downside was the poor tv reception. Very few channels and intermittent reception.
McGearys “Irish” bar wasn’t great….no atmosphere and no Guinness…!!!
Otherwise a brilliant holiday and experience.

Your attention to detail and the many free excursions and guided tours. Even though the quality of the guides did vary - some were giving too many details...

From start to finish TravelMarvel had everything covered.
We stayed an extra day at the start of the cruise in a hotel chosen by TM - very nice and great location.
The cruise itself exceeded our expectations in every way from the service by the ship staff to the standard organised trips - we couldn’t have asked for more
Thank you TM - now waiting for our next cruise.

This I believe was our 14th river cruise with Travel Marvel APT and our second this year, they always provide excellent service which is why we will book two for next year to. Our Cruise Director Bernadette was superb and all the crew managed our ship transfer due to low water perfectly. The staff on both the Polaris and Vega on which we travelled did their utmost to provide anything we asked for. Local guides were so knowledgeable and the excursions great.

We started our journey in Budapest on Travelmarvel Vega. The ship was lovely, modern and air-conditioned. The staff on board were brilliant and very hard working.
At Passau we had to change ship to Travelmarvel Polaris which was identical to Vega and the staff were equally efficient. The change over day(due to water levels) was a long day by coach but very well handled.
We travelled in the middle of a heatwave which made some of the excursions a bit of a challenge and we didn't get the full experience due to having to stay out of the sun (but nothing Travelmarvel could do about the weather).
Our cruise director Bernadett was very knowledgeable and managed a full ship very well - the slight criticism would be, when giving briefings, she gave too much information and everyone "Switched off". She did go "above and beyond" to try and get a World Cup match broadcast in McGeary's - bringing her personal laptop and connecting it to the TV.
The food was brilliant and it was great to have the alternative of McGeary's for a less formal meal.
The excursions were good with the exception of the one I paid for, Schloss Hof. I, and a number of other guests I spoke to, were under the impression that we would be seeing a demonstration along the lines of the Spanish Riding School - not two horses trotting round the arena - one being ridden and one lead on the rein. This was supposed to be the highlight of my trip but was very disappointing. We had also been rushed around the castle with no time to have a good look round. A very misleading excursion.
Another disappointment was finding out that we were docking in Zaandam instead of Amsterdam, making exploring Amsterdam more difficult - especially as we wanted to do our own thing.
Another slight annoyance was the fact that once away from the Danube the top sundeck was not able to be used due to the low bridges. This was not made clear in the itinerary.
Internet connection on board, although good most of the time, could be patchy when going through the mountains.
All in all, we had a wonderful cruise with fantastic food, staff, ship and locations and would not hesitate to use Travelmarvel in the future and recommend to friends.

We recently returned from a weeks cruise between Dubrovnik and Opatija. The cruise itself was pleasant and the food and onboard crew were excellent. Our issues was that we upgraded our room from a porthole room to room 18 which was above water with windows with views.
This was a £1000 upgrade, so imagine our surprise when our room and bed was smaller than the porthole rooms all of our travel friends were in! This along with the fact that the blinds on the windows were permanently closed and broken (so no view) the air conditioning was faulty continuously switching off through the night and to top it off our room was continuously filled with diesel fumes that cause my wife and I headaches most days.
All this was reported to the crew, the blinds were repaired but continued to break, whilst the air conditioning and diesel fumes continued for the week.
I did fill in a form for customer services to contact me but so far no contact.

The boat was excellent, the staff were excellent and the food was good. The included drinks at lunchtime and at dinner flowed very generously and happy hour in The Irish bar was a must for a pre-dinner drink or two.
The tour guides were good and on occasion outstanding.

The boat was beautiful. Staff and service were amazing. Service with a huge smile and nothing too much trouble. Emese our Tour Director went above and beyond to provide us with information every day about the tours. Especially appreciated was her commentary on the Danube cruise at night and also entering the Chain Gate. Reception staff also amazing, A fabulous tour with fabulous dedicated crew and knowledgeable people. A huge team spirit on board. Couldn’t fault anything

Overall, our cruise was a most enjoyable experience. It took a little time for us to settle in as we are river cruise people and used to the ultra luxury of these. The yacht cruise does not and cannot provide that sort of luxury so the food and drink is far less sophisticated although our cabin was nicer. Our cruise director, Ana, was wonderful and the small crew did a great job. We loved the Croatian islands and the people, and the relaxing cruising experience, once we had accepted it for what it was, plus the Aussies on the cruise were great fun.
