Exceptional service - highly recommended!

Quite exceptional service for an online order. Placed an order for a Tilley hat on morning of 25th April, by midday received confirmation of dispatch to Royal Mail and actually delivered to me in Nottingham on Sunday morning 26th! Don’t go if the ground is wet with your dog! In the Lake District ( known for its dry weather) bearing in mind not raining outside ground just wet, Dogs not allowed 😂😂😂 it’s hilarious an outdoor shop in the Lake District we are a nation of dog lovers and owners not allowed in because the ground is wet. We humans with our wet soaking walking boots and coats can walk around though, maybe it’s the wallets in our pockets that’s the main attraction !!!!The other out door shops like the Epicentre ( we spent our money there) are completely doggy friendly and most welcoming we won’t be coming back here!

Dire people management skills

My wife wanted some walking trousers. In the past we're bought Fjallraven and Patagonia online but their product range is wide and the sizing can be tricky sometimes, so while we were in The Lakes we took the opportunity to visit The Mountain Factor shop.

The big 'mountain bear' guy that served us was really helpful. He obviously had good product knowledge, and patiently talked us through the different options, styles and fabrics and so on.

My wife made her choice and we headed to the counter to pay. At this point the atmosphere of the shop changed with the arrival of a shouty guy whom I assumed to be the manager. The dreadful way he talked to his staff within earshot of customers was appalling.

I don't want to give my money to people like this. Working in low paid sales jobs is hard enough - without getting treated like a piece of crap. I wouldn't use this company again - either online or in the shop. Couldn't help but thinking his manner was a long way from the hugh-minded ethical values espoused by companies like Patagonia and Fallraven.

Not surprised to see a notice on the door advertising staff vacancies.

If I could give even less than 1 star then I would

If I could give even less than 1 star, then I would. I saw a nice looking top on Mountain Factor's website at a very good price, I placed the order (order number #370137) paid for it and got the confirmation emails etc. saying it was being processed, and two days later I get an email from them:
_______
Hi Paul,

We apologise that due to a stock error, your order of the Men’s R1 Daily Jacket is no longer available and you have been issued a refund.

Apologies again and thank you for ordering with us.

Kind regards,

Nadine

Very disappointing. Surely you must have known about the stock issue when I placed the order.

I would certainly think twice about ordering from this company and would urge others to do the same.

Patagonia coat

I was visiting the lake district and was looking for a good rain coat. After looking around various shops I decided I wanted a Patagonia. Whilst looking at various coats an employee spoke about the differences between each one and which one is better value for money for my needs. He didn’t try and push me for a more expensive one which I appreciated and he was very helpful as I ended up purchasing the one he recommended.

Great service from an independent business

Ordered a Fjällräven bag on Monday at 13:31, order dispatched at 16:25, Royal Mail delivered the T24 parcel Tuesday at 11:40. Excellent turnaround! Bag's perfect and here in good time to use at the weekend thanks to the speedy service.

Will use again

Ordered a jacket during the busy Christmas period but the item was posted out and arrived promptly

Had to telephone the team for technical help (re garment care) and they couldn’t be more than helpful.

Good to see the independents doing well with their customers

Beware if website says in stock... it may not be

Ordered a hat which website said was in stock. Having taken money from my bank account they emailed to say due to a 'stock error' they were unable to fulfil my order. In fairness, they processed my refund promptly but interesting that even with modern technology they can take money from your bank account immediately but it never gets refunded in to your bank account as quickly! Shall use other more reliable suppliers in future - clearly others have had similar poor experiences with this company.

Don’t take your dog

Couldn’t tell you how good it is. Must be the only adventure shop that doesn’t let dogs in when it rains. It’s the U.K. it always rains. Hate to think how much money they are missing out on

Shop on their website not their store.

Amazing store, my first visit was great, found amazing brands and products. However on our second visit their staff did not warn us about the travel mugs we purchased (for £25 each!) are not leak proof. This information was not on the shelf, not on the product packaging. So there was no way we could have found that out unless we looked online while we were in store, and why would we suspect these Yeti travel mugs were not safe to travel with, especially the branding is for the outdoor ramblers?
(The information was online only on both the brand’s and shop’s website)

So on this instant, I wish I had shopped online instead of in store as I did not receive any verbal warning on the product from store staff, whereas if I had shopped online I would not have made the same purchase with the additional information that was available.

Furthermore, I wrote to the store via their website to urge that their staff provides the leak warning in person in store for future customers, but I did not heard back.

This leaves a sour taste to my experience of this shop.

Ok....bit annoyed with packaging....but fast delivery

I purchased a hat from Patagonia and was really pleased with it. There are 4 colors, however for some reason Patagonia (The company that makes them) only sells 3 of the 4. I therefore wanted the other 3 but could only buy 2 from Patagonia. The Mountain Factor had all 3 of the other colors for sale so I bought from there instead.

I was a little skeptical of their website as it's not high end in terms of design and I'd never heard of them. Well the package arrived very quickly and all is good....all apart from one annoyance....

The items ordered were caps. They arrived in literally just a standard postage bag. As you would think, they were completely creased. Fortunately the peaks are really flimsy, but they still have weird bends in them from being squashed that I'm struggling to get out. It's just common sense....you send hats in a box rather than a bag, like Patagonia did. This really annoyed me tbh.
