I have several experiences with this…
I have several experiences with this bank. Beside hanging up in my face.
I had an Amazon account and after 15 yrs. It was deleted. My fault, I hit the wrong button. But, I called immediately and was assured that it wasn't. So, I have "Care Credit" "Husqvarna" and just got and Aadvantage for American Airlines.
So, because of and Eronious Website that decided this card. It was locked.
After contacting Synchrony Back.
The tried verifying me with a text that won't go through. Hung up on me.
Yesterday applied for a Lowes card.
Synchrony bank again.
They gave me $12k in credit. But my Aadvantage card is still locked because the text won't come through. Never in my 71yrs have I ever been treated like this from a credit card company.
This Bank is hopeless. DO NOT USE THEIR CC
This Bank is hopeless. They will never change. I have a samsclub business card. For first almost 15 years using them, they had very limited online interface, with no access to online statements. They made their interface a bit better a few years ago. But they have made it impossible to use their card! Almost every damn time there is a transaction which is out of the norm, they put a block on your card. And then to get that block removed is a chore. It takes minimum of 1 hour. Meanwhile, you are trying to do business and scrambling to ensure that your orders are placed and you will get your merchandise on time. It is almost as if they don't want people to use their cards!
If I could rate them less than a 1
If I could rate them less than a 1, I would. I had a Lowes credit balance sent to me in a check this past April, from 2023, I misplaced the check. I have been stuck on the phone with their useless customer service for no less than 30 minutes each time trying to tell them to stop payment and reissue a check to me. Every time I get a different story. Latest was I had to contact the unclaimed funds site, as this money has gone there. I checked the website NOTHING. Why isnt there a customer service email that we as consumers can use to reach them? Why is it that whoever I get on the phone with their customer service cant read the notes to see that the new check was just issues this year and stop payment on it and reissue a new one to me? Im at my wits end.
I would give them 0 Stars
I would give them 0 Stars, if I could! I applied for a Discount Tire credit card to get 4 tires, and as I was in the their store I first went through their Pre-Qualifying 1st, and I was approved. Then I went to.their 2nd QR code to apply. I went through their complete like 4 pages of questions. Then it said, you can close your screen now..so I did, but nothing, no reply was sent to me by email, or nothing. Then 10 days later, I get this letter to verify my identity? So I ended up speaking to 2 Cust. Svc reps, they asked me for my SS#, Then I told them this 6 digit number from the letter. And they told me I just had initiated my application. Which is untrue! Sufficeted to say, I had to end up getting my 4 tires with Affirm instead! What a waste of my time.
New motorcycle loan.
New motorcycle loan. All I have is contract paperwork from dealer. I receive a letter from Synchrony to keep an eye out for a future mailing with all of my account information, for payments. Receive letter by mail 2 days before due, after work at 7:30pm in mailbox. Call to make my 1st payment, Synchrony does NOT take bank DEBIT card information. Next day have to leave work early to go by the bank and get my routing number, and complete bank account number with the correct amount of 5 zeros before rest of complete account number. Next day call in to set up 1st payment, there IS a $39.99, late fee for 1 day late. ABSOLUTELY NO, NO, NO grace period. Finally get a human on the phone, and she politely explains NO grace period. 1 day late and $39.99, FEE is added. As a 1 time only courtesy, since this was my 1st payment set up, she agreed to waiver it. Now 1 day after due date, I make the payment, 2 days after I make the payment Synchrony mailed me a NASTY COLLECTIONS LETTER. All of my online banking payments accept my Debit Card number. This IS ridiculous to send out a NASTY COLLECTIONS LETTER, 2 days after the 1st payment is made at only 1 day late. I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER recommend for anyone to use Synchrony Bank for any type of loan. Or anything else.
Care Credit - Call and specify date to make payments!!
I am only writing this review to inform people regarding the Care Credit card through Synchrony. They offer interest free costs for 6 months. This is good, but if you have multiple charges over the 6 month period, your payments are going to the most recent charges. If you have racked up a balance, when you make a payment it goes to the most recent charges. Therefore, interest in inevitable if you cannot pay off each charge as it comes through. I had multiple vet visits that I used care credit for about a year ago. The initial charge that I used the card for, I just found out I am still paying interest on that specific charge. Even though over the 6 month grace period where there is "no interest" I made payments of $200 more that initial charge. To avoid this you must call customer care and ask them to apply your payment specifically to the earliest charges on the card. If I would have known that information when initially getting the care credit card I could've avoided the over $500 of interest charges I am dealing with now.
I paid off the highest balance I had…
I paid off the highest balance I had with this company which was $17,000 and two weeks later I got a letter saying they were closing my other account with them because of too much revolving debt. The account they closed on me was always paid on time & I hadn't used the card the closed on me in over a month.
TERRIBLE COMPANY think twice before getting a card with them.
I applied for a Synchrony bank credit…
I applied for a Synchrony bank credit card and they sent me a letter requesting additional information. When I called the "800"number and tried to give the person the additional information and tried to explain to her that I was having difficulty with the process she kept interrupting me when I was trying to explain the problem I was having. She made a frustrating situation even more frustrating.
This is absolutely the worst company…
This is absolutely the worst company I've ever dealt with. They find a way to charge you interest even when you make statement balance payments in full. If you have a promo balance with Amazon card, BEWARE. They will apply your regular account payments to your interest free balance and then charge your regular account interest without you even knowing. Their customer service agents are horrible and you might as well be dealing with a robot. I will never do business with any merchant again that aligs with Synchrony bank!
What a terrible customer service…
What a terrible customer service experience. I hope you never run into an issue with your card, because getting anything resolved is nearly impossible. They failed to send me the physical card for over two months, yet continued charging late fees and mailing statements. Since the physical card is required to create an account and make payments, I had no way to access or pay the bill. Talked to 7 people on their customer service line and they all had no idea how to help with basic requests.
Terrible non existent customer service
I recently purchased a mini split heat pump for my house. The company that made the installation was listed as a project partner with Synchrony bank and offered 18 month interest free financing. This would have enabled me to have funds for another major project so I applied for a Synchrony credit card. I did make a mistake in the online application and was immediately rejected as a "high risk application source." And that's it you can't talk to a real person via their phone system and they don't have any offices (anywhere in the US as far as I can tell) where you can go in and resolve application issues. I asked the business doing the install for help and they could offer none. So despite having a credit score in the 800s and a low 6 figure retirement income I was forced to pay the full amount in cash. I see from the thousands of other reviews I'm not an outlier. Would give zero stars if I could.
They close good standing account and…
They close good standing account and lower your credit limit without notice. Really for no reason. Beware of getting an account from them. They will mess your credit score up.
This bank with the horrible reviews…
This bank with the horrible reviews recently lowered my credit limit for no reason no lateness no over the limit just like that ! Even after another bank just extended my credit . If I checked first I would not have opened a credit account with them. I only did it because walgreens was the lead .disappointed and beware !!!

As a bank they are ok but as a financing tool like credit cars for companies they are scary. It doesnt allow you to make a payment through the app. I was able to make a payment on their website. So because they had made payments difficult, I closed all lf the accounts. i am relieved that had zero balances.
I have been a synchrony credit card…
I have been a synchrony credit card holder since 2015 I went to use my credit card on May 21 at discount tire and my account was closed. Thy say it inactivity use but nobody ever contacted me I am so disappointed about not letting me know and how I was treated when I called in. I will never use this bank again
they did not mail the bill
I am an attorney and have worked hard to maintain excellent credit for many years. Synchrony Bank, which services At Home credit cards, handled a $34 balance in a way that I believe was unfair and unacceptable.
For the past 30 years, my bookkeeper has handled bills through mailed invoices. Synchrony Bank did not mail me an invoice for this balance. Instead, they admitted they sent notice only by email, which is not how my bills are managed and is exactly the type of communication that can be missed, filtered, or buried in spam.
When I contacted Synchrony Bank, they initially would not acknowledge that the bill had been sent only by email. After I pushed for a clear answer, they finally admitted that no paper invoice had been mailed.
I paid the $34 balance and immediately cancelled the card. No customer should have their credit put at risk over a small balance that was never mailed in the normal billing manner. When I went to post this complaint, I saw more than 2,000 one-star complaints about Synchrony Bank, which makes it clear that my experience is not an isolated one.
I never thought I would be writing…
I never thought I would be writing something like this, but I want people to understand what happened to me with Synchrony Bank.
I started with a simple Amazon card and built trust with Synchrony over time by doing everything the right way. I made my payments on time, managed my accounts responsibly, and worked hard to build my credit.
As life moved forward, Synchrony continued approving me for more accounts and increasing my limits because of my good history with them. I financed dental work to take care of my health and they eventually raised that limit to $20,000. When my wife became pregnant, we opened a Mattress Firm account so we could finally get a comfortable mattress for us and prepare for sleepless nights with a baby on the way. They approved another $20,000 limit.
We opened a Discount Tire account because we needed safe tires and reliable transportation for our growing family. Later, after moving into a new apartment and welcoming our baby, we opened an Ashley account where again we got accepted for another $20,000 limit so we could furnish our home and create a comfortable space for our child.
None of this was reckless spending to me. This was real life. Building a home. Taking care of my wife. Preparing for our baby. Trying to be responsible and provide for my family.
Through every single account, I never missed a payment.
Then without warning, Synchrony closed all of my accounts and labeled me as a “high risk of failure to pay.”
Reading those words honestly hurt. After years of being responsible and loyal, it felt like none of it mattered. The same company that trusted me enough to extend large credit limits suddenly decided I was too risky despite never failing them.
What hurts even more is the damage this caused to my credit. Overnight, a huge portion of my available credit disappeared, hurting my utilization and negatively affecting the credit I worked so hard to build.
I understand banks can make business decisions, but this experience left me extremely disappointed. It’s hard not to feel betrayed when you spend years proving yourself financially responsible only to be treated like a liability anyway.
I’m sharing this because consumers deserve to know that even if you always pay on time and do everything correctly, your accounts can still be shut down without warning based on internal risk
I am not a fan
I am not a fan. I seem to run into non-stop issues and when I call to request assistance, I always have had a poor experience. I now check the carrier of a card to ensure that it is not owned by Synchrony Bank to avoid interactions as much as possible.
I opened a credit card with this bank…
I opened a credit card with this bank at TJ Maxx then about a month later I went to go pay off the card but wasn’t able to pay at the register I was hit with too late fee charges that came out to $100 and on top of that when dealing with their customer service trying to pay it off, they were more concerned with getting my information rather than helping me cancel overall a very poor experience. I recommend you stay away from opening any cards here.
