Fender tele ‘65
Looked online for a local guitar repairers and found John. Cos of the good reviews decided to let him have a look at my sons fender ‘69 telecaster. So glad I did. Turns out it was actually a ‘65 and not only did he give it a full service, replacing various parts as necessary all within time and budget, he also found time to dig up a little history on the guitar as well

Excellent! String King set up my Fender Telecaster - shaved a bit off the nut, adjusted the truss rod and set the intonation. Plays like a dream. The guy is really friendly and a knowledgeable lover of the guitar - excellent communication and service. I look forward to him working on some of my more challenging axes.

Bloody Brilliant. Flawless re-fret job on my Rickenbacker 330. Plays like a dream now. Also just a really nice friendly bloke, a musician and a lover of guitars. If you need something done, stop looking... you've found the guy.

I have an 8-string (!!!) that wasn't set up to my liking when it came from the factory. The action was too high, and the bottom string was way too thin for F#, let alone for E. I asked John to do a full setup with my choice of strings (I use GHS Boomers). He adjusted the truss rod, set the intonation and lowered the action. As a result, the guitar became much more playable. He also expanded the hole in the tuning peg for the bottom string, so I can now use my preferred gauge without having to partially unwind the string to make it fit. Overall, I am quite happy with the results.

John sorted out some issues with the switch on my Epiphone Casino and now it's good as new! He also advised about replacing the jack socket too. Amazing service, will definitely use again in future!

I came to John this week with my Mexican fender jazz bass.

I've had the bass for ten years and the last time it had been set up was when it left the factory.

John was able to adjust everything to my needs including an obviously bowed neck and give the electronics a good clean. The price was very reasonable, didn't try to up sell and was a very quick turnaround.

I'll be using his services whenever i'm in need in the future for sure.

If that wasn't enough, he will also give you expert tips on maintaing your guitar and on being a better player.

Finally got round to replacing my duff amp, so then I got my old Strat copy out of storage, only to to find the action uncomfortable and the electronics iffy. But John sorted out all the problems (and replaced the missing tremolo arm), so that it now plays and sounds better than it ever did.

I had an unknown issue with the electronics in my guitar and as it's a hollow-body I decided to find a professional to have a look, rather than mess it up myself. John located and resolved the issue incredibly fast and was polite and helpful throughout the whole process, from accommodating drop-off and pick-up times convenient to me and my schedule to keeping me in the loop with all progress.

John is definitely going to be my goto guy for any guitar issues I may have in the future. I couldn't recommend his services more. I would give 6 stars if I could!

I dropped my Fender (broken neck) over to John on Sunday.
On Tuesday en route to work (@ the crack of dawn!) got John out of bed when I collected it.
Excellent service at a reasonable price.

My neglected Fender hadn't been touched for 20 years and needed a full makeover. John got it back up and running and looking fabulous! He also did some research on the guitar so was able to tell me more about it, which was really interesting. Can't recommend highly enough!

I bought a secondhand 80's Japanese Squier strat online and took it to John, as it needed some body repair work, a full set-up and I also wanted to replace the stock trem with a Kahler system. A really pleasant and knowledgable guy, John discussed the work in detail and he quoted a very reasonable price. All work was carried out to a high standard and I could not be more pleased with the final result. I will definitely use String King Guitar Works again.

Brought a custom PRS with floating trem for a basic set up - plays like an absolute dream. Was completed very quickly. Would highly recommend the service to others.

Brought in my electric bass (epiphone Jack Casady) for a full set up, John got it done in 30 minutes and was very knowledgeable-despite having never worked on a bass like mine before-and friendly. I will be sure to return in the future if I need any of my guitars set up.

John is a genius, gave honest advice and opinions on what should be done my with guitars! Took an old guitar I found in my Mum and Dads loft, long forgotten, and bought it up to a better standard than my current ones! Like having a new guitar, all for the price of a set up and fret level!
