Nice fellow who knows his job, nice attention to detail - fixed a wiring issue and a very good refret with a nicely cut nut and board level nice to support a luthier locally - very reasonably priced as well

Excellent service and communication and fast turn around. John has done setups and repair work on two of my guitars so far and I will be taking him more. Solved tuning issues at the nut that made it unplayable. The other he shielded and gave a proper set up which solved fret buzzing and now plays better than ever.
I have had a lot of set ups over the years at different places and John is by far the best and listens to everything you say and doesn’t make assumptions about what you want. I can not recommend him enough.

Its like a different beast. John really brought my guitar to life and to its full potential for my style of hard playing.
Even with a good thrashing it plays with ease and stays perfectly in tune, intonated right up to the 24th fret!

My Les Paul Epiphone had sat neglected in a corner for a year. The strings were broken and the sound was poor on some of the upper frets. It was beyond my ability to resurrect.
Took it to John and he brought it back to better than new for a fair price. He is an engaging and friendly guy who knows his guitars.

Just got my '78 Les Paul Custom back, superb job, quick turnaround and a very reasonable price. Will definately use again if any work needed on my guitars.

I had a Taylor 214ce sitting in my guitar rack for several years. I bought it online and it had a terribly high action and the normal adjustments were not touching it and so, never got played. I found John online and paid him a visit to get a set up. John agreed the action was way out, luckily the Taylor has a bolt-on neck so John contacted Taylor and got some neck shims and did a neck re-set and set-up. I got a call much sooner than expected to say I could collect the guitar. As soon as John handed me the guitar it was obvious that the action was nice and low (lower than I thought would be possible) with no buzzing anywhere along the neck. I haven't put it down since ! The guitar not only plays like butter but the set up has opened up the sound and it's amazing. I can't recommend John enough and will be using his services in the future.

Found John online after having purchased my guitar online from a shop. He set up my guitar brilliantly and I couldn't be happier, he is such a warm and friendly chap. It's a rare thing these days to find guys like him, worth every penny to get your guitar back in top order. Will be coming to you when my new strat arrives! Thanks again for your help John!

I took my j45 for a set up and dressing and my 339 for a full re-fret.

John not only went above and beyond by turning around the ACS within 24hrs. the work he did was exceptional. I would highly recommend his service to anyone.

After years in it's case awaiting TLC, I took my Avon Marauder to John for replacement pick-ups, re-fretting and new electrics. He gave me an honest appreciation of the work required and an accurate and very reasonable estimate. He has done a fantastic job and this 1970s vintage guitar looks and plays like a brand-new instrument. Top man!

My guitar sounded rough, even though I had the intonation seen to by the shop I bought my guitar from not long ago. As a novice player I was beginning not to enjoy what I was playing.
Picked my baby up today and wow what a difference, sounds fantastic!!!!

I really cannot recommend John and String King highly enough! All the work done to my basses has been methodical and of exceptionally high quality. All for a very quick turnaround and very reasonable rates. Definitely the Guitar / Bass tech to go to if you're in or around London.

I was looking for a local guitar technician/luthier in the SE London area to raise the action on my fretess bass. Through the wonders of modern technology I came upon String King Guitar Works.
