The hotels were very clean and staff was helpful. We had breakfast each morning prior to beginning our day which was a huge plus. The baggage drop off made our back pack more manageable.

Dear Santiago Ways Team,
Thank you so much for the wonderful service you provided in planning our trip along the Camino de Francés. Everything was handled so thoughtfully, and it truly made for an unforgettable experience.
The luggage transfer was seamless and took so much stress off our journey, allowing us to fully enjoy each day. What stood out most, however, were the accommodations you arranged—every place was clean, comfortable, and run by such warm and welcoming proprietors. The food along the way was also fantastic and added so much to the overall experience.
I especially appreciate your flexibility in working with us to extend our Camino by an extra day. That additional time gave us the opportunity to explore the surroundings more deeply, and it became one of the highlights of our trip.
I will gladly and highly recommend your company to others, and I am already thinking about planning my next Camino!
With sincere thanks,

Based on positive reviews, we used Santiago Ways to bike the Camino. Many aspects of our trip were excellent. However, Santiago Ways did not provide appropriate and necessary day-to-day bike navigation and planning for our trip, overshadowing our positive experiences. We would not recommend Santiago Ways unless this issue is addressed.
What Santiago Ways did well: The Bikeleon.com mountain bikes and related equipment provided were excellent. The luggage transfer was reliable and efficient. The accommodations were clean and generally well-located (one exception involving a lovely vineyard-stay that was nearly impossible to find related to Santiago Ways poor navigation/planning).
What Santiago Ways did poorly: Months before our trip began, we expressed concern via email about navigating the Camino on bicycle. We were told, “Please rest assured that the Camino is extremely well signposted along the way, which makes navigating from one accommodation to the next very straightforward.” Some very basic online research indicated that this is not the case. Based on this research, we followed up with an email asking what navigation tools would be provided to us. We were told that the “dossier” for walkers was the only tool provided, but told, “Please don’t worry. It is true that some short stretches are not fully accessible by bicycle or may be less comfortable to ride. In those cases, cyclists usually follow alternative secondary roads that run parallel to the Camino. These detours are well known, and the locals are always very helpful in pointing them out if needed. You won’t need to plan your own route from zero; the main path is the same, and only small adjustments are necessary in certain areas.” Further research indicated that this is not only untrue but misleading. Ignoring this advice, we purchased a GPS navigation app and planned the entire route in advance. Even with this, it was extremely difficult to navigate and to adjust our route on the fly. This was made even more difficult when “the locals,” who we were told would be familiar with cycling routes, were not. They repeatedly tried to redirect us back to the walking paths, which were not accessible to bicycles. Our criticism is not that Santiago Ways did not provide navigation tools, but that their advice regarding such tools was extremely misleading and mostly untrue.
We would have preferred a more honest and straightforward response to our original email about navigating the Camino on bicycle. A suggested response would be, “The dossier that is provided is intended to be a rough guide and is geared specifically towards those walking the Camino. If walking, it is recommended to preview the route ahead of time and to be equipped with a navigation tool with GPS, such as Google Maps, during your walk. If cycling, it is essential to plan your route ahead of time using a navigation tool that allows you to preplan a route and that uses GPS to navigate, such as RideWithGPS. This will help to avoid areas where bicycles are prohibited and/or where the terrain is not optimal for bicycles, as well as allowing you to make adjustments to your route on the fly.”
If we had not ignored the advice given by Santiago Ways, our trip would have been pretty disastrous. We specifically stated in our emails that we would not have cellular service during our trip and that we were concerned about finding our way from one accommodation to another. We were told not to worry, that everything would be fine. Just in case, we purchased a GPS app that uses offline maps and allows you to create pre-planned routes ahead of time. Even using these routes, which took hours to create, navigation of the Camino on bicycles was extremely difficult. Subsequent online research has confirmed that this is the general consensus of cyclists who have traveled the Camino: while there is a generally accepted walking route, which follows the shell signs and yellow arrows, there is no single, widely accepted cycling route. Bicycles are prohibited on many parts of the walking route, such as boardwalks and narrow walking paths. There are other sections where bicycles are allowed but certainly not optimal. Each cyclist has their own opinion as to which of these sections are suited for bicycles. In both cases, alternate routes for bicycles are not marked at all. It is up to the cyclist to find their own way past the non-bikable sections and return to the Camino. It is the duty of the outfitter to make cyclists aware of this. What Santiago Ways told us was worse than telling us nothing at all. Instead they tried to reassure us that navigation would not pose a problem and that we did not need to plan out our route in advance. Pre-planning and use of a navigation tool are essential for anyone who wants to bike the Camino.

I am glad I chose Santiago Ways for my group's Camino de Santiago walk. All the staff I called for any questions were very helpful, friendly and professional. Larissa took care of our booking, and all the hotels and inns she picked for us were wonderful. We had an issue with a delayed visa approval with some members of our group and she was able to provide us with other options, to our satisfaction and appreciation. I would also like to give a big shout out to Jorge Garcia for helping us with our overweight luggage transfer. He was quick to resolve our issue and gave me peace of mind knowing he was on standby to help us with any other issues. I will book my next year's camino again with Santiago Ways having a great experience and assurance of quality accommodations, meals, directions, information and excellent customer service. I have already recommended Santiago Ways to my friends and family who are contemplating doing the Camino. I highly recommend Santiago Ways with the highest stars.

Our representative was wonderful in designing a trip within the parameters I gave him, mainly the limits on the the number of miles I wanted to do per day. Lodging and the meals provided were wonderful. Getting our luggage from one place to the other was seamless. I will be using them again for my next Camiño trek.

I wanted to do a 250km+ Camino but wanted the confidence that all my accomodation was prebooked and I could have additional baggage transported to minimise the gear I was carrying. SW booked all accom, breakfast and dinner. The accom was basic, but always clean and comfortable. Everthing went with without an issue, very happy with the service provided by SW.
