It is an inconvenient that you cannot chose the seats for a first-class trip with the "seats choice" option paid for. You have to contact the carrier (Austrian Rail in my case) which is very slow in answering emails. Being in USA contact by phone is pretty difficult.

We could not find the tickets for our return trip to Germany which were booked and paid for. No matter how much we searched the internet, they were very well hidden. And then we got the App. And then we found them. Not everybody is that technically efficient and it would be sensitive and kind to acknowledge that there are more direct and easier ways of booking; especially for the older generation. There are still plenty of us around, a lot of whom have the money and time to take holidays.

A travel agent did give me guidance on what to purchase - particularly the stations to use. Because I had that information I was able to locate my routes quickly. Otherwise it would have been quite difficult for me to figure out the best options. Then when I collected all the passport information and was ready to purchase, I received “cannot find an available booking agent try again later.” This occurred several times before I was finally able to buy the tickets.

I had to cancel (or change) my trip. Warning: There is NO WAY to access your purchased trip from either the ticket or the website (using the purchase or ticket number). RailEurope has no phone number or access to discuss ticket exchange or cancellation. They list many, many articles about how to cancel or exchange, but putting them into action is impossible. Try other consolidators, unless you are absolutely certain of your travel dates
