Absolutely useless falsely offer…
Absolutely useless falsely offer products like pay in 4 but won't let you access these products saying it's automated yet I've had a perfect account for 15 years no longer why have a company that lies to its customers
Prepare to get frustrated
I have a dispute with item I purchased and contacted customer service for help the number was apparently a London one I spoke with a customer service representative who asked me if I had received the item I told her no she then asked me another four times that same question at which point I was getting extremely frustrated with her because I had to keep asking her to repeat herself as I couldn’t understand what she was saying I then asked for a English speaking person to talk with she said that she could speak English????!!!after 20 minutes of wasting my time she eventually put me through to the resolution centre and she said that she had made a note of my conversation and said that she would attach it to my file so that I wouldn’t have to repeat myself.
Guess what I had to explain it all over again to a same female whom in my opinion English is not her first language in total I spent about 50 annoying minutes of my time and call credit
I demanded that a English speaking manager to call me back which I feel is very acceptable because some calls you make you are asked to speak with a customer support person that talks English or whatever the number that input on your keypad
I’m still waiting for the call back!!!!!
I've been with PayPal for 13 years and…
I've been with PayPal for 13 years and I'm completely done with them . The customer service is terrible and they do nothing to protect their customers. The AI is so bad and their representatives are rude as hell.
I used paypal for almost 20 years…
I used paypal for almost 20 years before needing them to resolve a dispute and when I did, they completely failed. They effectively sided with the seller and insist that I need to organise and pay for the return and will hold all risk of the courier losing it. This conclusion took a very long time to reach and is directly against UK consumer law. The PayPal agent tried to argue that PayPal's terms and conditions have priority over UK law. Definitely make sure you don't have it set up as Direct Debit because then even your bank won't help.
Sent an item through mail
Sent an item through mail. They blocked my account and sent my money back to the customer. Spent a month chasing paypal for them to tell me they are on the customer side. I had proof the customer was in the wrong they never asked me to send it just told me im not getting my money and of course the customer never sent the product back. 300 dollars billion dollar company
Pay Pal Scam
Have used Pay Pal for many years. It used to be a decent, honest, time saving payment option. No longer. They give authorization for use of your money WITHOUT your approval to EVERY company you ever purchase anything from.
They intentionally make Fraud cases, Unauthorized Purchases, and Disputes as difficult as possible to contest. PayPal hides their phone number. And demands you provide 4-8 hours of absurd documentation, even for cases that 5 min on line would be all that a person of normal intelligence would need to determine fraud.
Even when kind PayPal Customer Service reps have told me "Don't worry, we've had hundreds of reports of unauthorized charges by this company" - STILL PayPal wastes days of your time contesting and demanding an absurd amount of documentation.
They use slimy business practices like requiring the victim to pay to return the crap fraudulent items, or items never ordered to another country at your expense and other clearly illegal demands. Or they reject your claim for no reason at all.
Since they now appear to consider scammers, fraudulent businesses, and criminals as their main clients...rather than the person whose money they are helping themselves to...I'm closing my account. Such a relief to be free of this incompetence, deception and waste of my time.
Recommend others save your money and time and stay away from them.
I would give PayPal zero stars if I could…
I would give PayPal zero stars if that were an option.
I just got off the phone with someone named Cari, who identified herself as a supervisor. The call reference number is 272373376. I was left on hold for more than 25 minutes while trying to address a transaction fee that was suddenly charged on my recent invoice payment.
I have used PayPal as my invoice system for approximately one year and four months, and I had never been charged this type of transaction fee on my prior invoices. I was told that the fee has always existed, but that does not reflect how the fee was applied to my account history. If this fee had been applied to my previous invoices in the same way, I would not have continued using PayPal as my invoicing platform without adjusting my pricing or choosing another payment system.
The fee was nearly $200, which is a significant amount for a small business owner providing services to clients. It is even more frustrating because PayPal had already placed a hold on my funds before taking the fee.
My issue is not whether PayPal can point to a policy. My issue is that the fee was not applied to my prior invoices in the same way, and then I was treated dismissively when I questioned why this suddenly changed. Businesses rely on predictable payment processing, and this experience has made it very difficult to trust PayPal as a platform.
I do not recommend using PayPal as an invoice system. Small business owners deserve better than unexpected fees, delayed access to funds and customer service that makes a frustrating situation worse.
Customer for over 9 years..
Customer for over 9 years.
Spent thousands and thousands, tens of thousands with this company and paying fees for transfers.
The one time I send a lump some of 9,000 they hold it ransom for two weeks and then when I tried to get a reversal fee-free (because I already paid a huge fee to send it and the person I sent it to no longer needed the emergency money) they said no. They want them to pay another fee to send it back and told us straight up it’d be held for another two weeks.
Now going through my bank where PayPal is saying I was scammed and that’s why they’re holding the funds and it caused an entire investigation to be launched from my bank when I’ve been sending said person money for over two years.
Horrible business, do yourself a favor and go with WISE or ZELLE. Avoid PayPal at ALL costs. They went downhill so quick.
I have been using PayPal for more than…
I have been using PayPal for more than 10 years, and today my account was suddenly permanently limited. The reason given was that PayPal believes I may reside in a different country than the country registered on my account.
I want to clarify that I am a Moroccan resident and I have always been based in Morocco. I have no disputes and no chargebacks, and I am fully ready to provide any documents needed to verify my identity, Moroccan residence, business information, and account activity.
This limitation is seriously affecting my business and access to my PayPal account. I kindly ask PayPal to contact me and escalate my case to the limitation/compliance team for a manual review.
Please help me resolve this issue as soon as possible.
Use another company!
Took out a PayPal cashback card because of the 3% back on online purchases. It seemed like a great deal. However, this company will not help you if you have any problems like most credit card companies will. I was scammed and denied my dispute…I didn’t even know that was possible. I canceled the card and will never use them again!
Closed my account after 25 years
I think this company has struggled with it's identity and place in the current financial world since detaching from eBay. It was once the trusted way to pay and is just no longer relevant. Recently, CS is very poor - today I was logged off twice while waiting for the agent to reply. The information they gave me was inadequate and/or outright false and have decided they don't really bring anything to the table. I don't need to have them as an option anymore.
PayPal is a scam
Absolutely disgusting, do not use PayPal they are scammers.
First my nans bank details get stolen and used to set up a PayPal subscription 3 years later and she finally gets internet banking only to find that she has been robbed month after month. We call up PayPal but don’t have any details as she didn’t set up an account (shes absolutely hopeless with the internet 😓) and they say nothing we can do but if your interested in setting up and account. Thankfully the bank was much more help.
And then there’s me the granddaughter who accidentally used pay pal portal to make an online purchase inadvertently making a pay pal account, sadly for me that came back to bite me more than a year later when a family member decided to send me money and used there pay pal and my email which was actually a PayPal account so first we spent 2 hours figuring out were the money actually went then another one realising it was going to be more trouble than it was worth getting money from PayPal to my bank and then yes another 2 hours figuring out how to send it back.
And it gets worse because during this whole sent back bungle my relative made a refund request more than 4 months later and serveral emails plus phone calls on both mine and relatives side and my bill has officially risen from $195 to $210. And still not help not even a reach out from PayPal they haven’t even bothered to reply to my last email.
stay away shady practice!!!
They will deliberately default to a debit card or bank account even when you selected to pay with a credit card.
This is literally unauthorized access. You have not given paypal access to use that payment method when you specifically selected to pay with credit card.
They also do not notify you when that happens!!! Then you get an over draft on your account and paypal doesn't care cause they made their profits!!!
PayPal allowed theft from my account over a three month period and will not reimburse
It appears that inspite of allowing unauthorized access to my PayPal account by Finelo, Inc., and their stealing $154.94 from it, PayPal refuses to protect my account and reimburse the money. Got one notice from them that the dispute had been resolved in my favor, but after that, no reimbursement and dead silence. If they allow theft from member accounts, PayPal certainly can't be trusted.
I’ve always been happy with PayPal I…
I’ve always been happy with PayPal I find it a really safe way to pay for things as I’ve used them before and had issues with quite well named sellers but they’ve resolved the issue quickly. Yesterday I sent a payment it wasn’t my usual direct debit or a payment I was asked to pay. They’re so slow to take it that after around 24 hours when it tried to go out it didn’t. The money wasn’t sent to them and it wasn’t a payment I needed to send so they charged me 12 pound return fee! Ridiculous. Always been a fan of them but need to be aware of that
Buyer Protection that protected everyone except the buyer
**Buyer Protection that protected everyone except the buyer**
Extremely disappointing experience with PayPal Buyer Protection.
I paid for accommodation through PayPal. After arrival, it became clear that the accommodation provided was materially different from the customer-facing listing, photos and confirmation used to sell it. The issue was not that I simply “didn’t like” the accommodation. The issue was that the service delivered did not match what was presented before payment.
I reported the problem, provided evidence, and explained that I stayed only because I was travelling with a child, had already arrived, and no suitable immediate alternative was available. Staying in that situation should not be treated as accepting that the service matched the description.
PayPal rejected the case with generic reasoning, effectively treating the dispute as if it were about damaged or missing goods rather than a misleading accommodation service. That completely missed the point of the complaint.
In my experience, PayPal Buyer Protection was functionally useless in a real-world service dispute. It looked like a process designed to close a case, not to properly assess the evidence or protect the customer.
The result is that the seller/platform position was accepted, while the buyer was left with the cost of a service that was materially different from what was advertised.
Based on this experience, I no longer trust PayPal Buyer Protection as meaningful protection for customers. It sounds reassuring in theory, but when I actually needed it, it failed.
PayPal ignored clear evidence, closed my dispute and left me on hold for 52 minutes UK CALLBACK REQUIRED
I have been a PayPal customer for over 17 years and this is the worst service I have experienced. I submitted a formal appeal for Dispute ID PP-R-NIH-634412773 (Txn 0TD02114JK546732D) after eharmony charged me £49.05 post‑cancellation; I provided the order confirmation, merchant Terms, live‑chat transcript and proof I revoked billing permissions, yet PayPal closed the dispute as “processed correctly” within 30 minutes of me submitting evidence.
PayPal’s live chat repeatedly refused to treat this as an unauthorised post‑cancellation charge, tried to reclassify it as “service not received,” and promised a callback that never happened I was left on hold for 52 minutes today and eventually gave up. I asked explicitly for a UK‑based senior to call me back, not an overseas agent, and that request was ignored.
I want PayPal to:
Reopen and fully review Dispute ID PP‑R‑NIH‑634412773 with the merchant server/payment logs;
Refund £49.05 immediately if the merchant cannot show explicit, informed consent to early performance before the charge;
Provide a written explanation of why my evidence was dismissed;
Arrange a callback from a UK‑based senior representative within 48 hours.
If PayPal fails to act I will escalate to my card issuer, the Financial Ombudsman Service, Trading Standards and the ICO, and pursue a small claims action. This level of dismissive, cursory handling and the long hold time is unacceptable for a company I trusted for 17 years.
Rubbish
Impossible to get any sense out of them
They use a different number to my present one so can’t contact
If I see a site with NO alternative to PayPal I go elsewhere!
AVOID - Poor customer service and AI
Absolutely would not recommend PayPal credit - they have charged me TWICE for an order. I’ve had an open case with them since the 29th May and every time I ring up, they just advise a new case number and another 10 - 14 working days for it to be rectified. The website will try their best to fob you off and put you to an AI chat - the customer service will also give you direct phone numbers to their team that are no longer in use and put you on hold for 30 mins just to come back and say another case has been raised - they will try their best to avoid a complaint and will ignore you when you request to put an official complaint in. I would avoid and I will definitely not be using them again!
