Considering 73 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers frequently praise the platform for making relocations significantly less stressful by conveniently covering expensive security deposits in exchange for a manageable fee. People also state that the entire digital application procedure is exceptionally fast, completely straightforward, and remarkably user-friendly from the very beginning to the end. All good in the end…

The application process was somewhat confusing because not all info was available. In the end, everyone I communicated with was polite and helpful and I qualified for no security deposit! The small fee for that privilege was well worth it.

I only did 2 because while I respect…

I only did 2 because while I respect the idea of allowing a yearly fee, the website and process is not forthcoming. The devil is in the details, and if you are doing this to "help" those struggling, your fees and the process should be way more transparent. Housing is difficult enough. Someone just getting started doesn't have $1500 hold fee, they are likely borrowing, and THEN add your $600 fee to pay yearly on something. Insane.

What a racket

When I signed up for Obligo, my understanding was that I would pay a portion of the deposit yearly until the deposit amount was met. However, now the outrageous "service fee" of +$700 I paid them wasn't going to my deposit at all. It was only the cost to forego the whole deposit and make payments the next year. $700+ down the drain. Obligo calls $700+ a "small fee". Where on planet earth is that a small fee? They call it a small fee compared to the deposit. Had I known this, I would have got the money for the deposit OR looked elsewhere. This is another company that has found a way to take advantage of people in need.

Hi Jolyn,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience with Obligo didn't match your expectations.
Obligo is designed as an alternative to a traditional security deposit. Rather than paying a refundable cash deposit upfront, renters pay a non-refundable service fee in exchange for the flexibility of keeping those funds available for other expenses. Because the service fee is separate from a security deposit, it isn't applied toward move-out charges at the end of the lease.
We recognize that this model isn't the right fit for everyone, and we're always looking for ways to make how our product works clearer before renters enroll. A member of our team has also been working with you directly to address your concerns and answer your questions.
If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at support@myobligo.com.

It was fast and easy to apply. It helped me so much to not pay the whole deposit all at once. Since I'm moving from Ohio to Florida it saved me so much to put on other things to get me moved. I would Definitely recommend using Obligo to anyone.
