The price of the vehicle got heavily…
The price of the vehicle got heavily discounted before even reaching the auction by motorway. I knew it would not meet the initial price but felt this was still a lot lower than a pristine car of its age.
When the buyer arrived they arrived a day late and reduce the price further. Only after haggling was the car then sold for less then the auctioned price.

You won't get anywhere near their inital quote
The initial price they quote is way higher than what you'll be offered. Probably good if you are desperate to sell at any price. Didn't work for me. They also pester you despite completing eveything on line they still call!!!

Extremely easy sale
Easy to describe and list.
Very pleasant dealer came promptly and slight haggling on sale price as expected.
Stress free and money in the bank on the drive as we passed over the keys.
It is a good system that works
3rd time I have used motorway and it has always been very good. from taking some photos meeting collection person and getting your money in about 2 mins after inspection I can’t fault it.
Simple and quick
Simple and quick. Would recommend. Much better price than trading in my car.
Drawn out process due to invoice format issue, plus sale price discrepancy
Positives:
The app was helpful in terms of preparing the vehicle profiles, getting the right photos etc.
The teams sorting the collection through Motorway were efficient and helpful.
The payment was instant once the vehicle collection inspection was completed.
Negatives:
The auction sale price was £1k off the mark of the initial estimate (£23.5k estimate, £22.5k actual)
There was a drawn out process because of an issue with my invoice. 5 phone calls over a 2 week period ended with different outcomes each time, e.g. 1. everything is ok we'll progress the sale. E.g. 2. The invoice is a problem we can't accept it and we can't purchase the vehicle.
Because of the poor communication and lack of action sometimes I was nervous about my car sitting on my drive depreciating. Also I was made to feel like I was doing something dodgy. The flip flopping with the communication and the amount of chasing up was really really frustrating.

Bit Long winded with photos but essential to make sure price certainty.
A "verified dealer" on Motorway bid high to win, then demanded a third off on my doorstep
Motorway describes its buyers as verified dealers. I'd like to know what that verification covers, because here's what it bought me.
I accepted a winning bid for a 2016 Prius. Collection date agreed. I was leaving the country that week and said so.
The day before collection the dealer couldn't confirm he was coming. Motorway called him for me and told me afterwards that he had claimed several failed attempts to collect. No one had been to my address. My phone records show every call on that line going out from me to him.
He arrived on the agreed collection date and spent the entire visit looking at the outside of the car. Never drove it. Never sat in it. Said he'd counted multiple marks on the paint, then told me he wouldn't take the car unless I accepted roughly a third off his own winning bid. No itemised costing. No written breakdown. I refused. He left without countering.
Here is the part Motorway should care about.
That same afternoon I sold the car to WeBuyAnyCar. Their valuation, before any deductions, came in within a few hundred pounds of the winning bid this dealer had just walked away from. WeBuyAnyCar inspected the car properly. They found the same paintwork he did and priced it at a fraction of what the dealer was demanding — and still paid me far more than the dealer offered on my doorstep.
WeBuyAnyCar is the buyer of last resort. Their entire business is buying below market and selling on at a profit. That is the company that beat a verified Motorway dealer by a wide margin, on the same car, on the same day, looking at the same paint.
So the paint was never the reason. A verified dealer put in a high bid to win my car, then valued it below the floor of the entire market to see whether I'd take it.
Motorway's response was to offer to relist. I won't be using them again.
You cannot charge sellers a fee, advertise your buyers as verified, run a process you call a sale, and then stand back as a neutral platform when a dealer treats his winning bid as an opening offer.
Accepting a bid here is not a sale. It's an invitation to be renegotiated at your own front door, on the agreed collection date. It's the wild west for individual sellers.
Use Motorway at your own risk.

It was a straightforward process and very good sell price
Great service
Great service, clear instructions & payment was made in minutes. Collection agency were good, a bit of a price discussion upon collection but the price was fair & I was very happy. This is the 2nd time I have used Motorway, I will defiantly use them again!
Never used this service before.
Never used this service before.
Very straightforward to get an initial quote which was considerably more than book price for part exchange.
Even when photos were submitted drop in value was not huge.
Collection and payment was straightforward ( I did wonder if there might be a further haggle over price but nothing changed). I did have to check with the team that payment had been released but this took only a couple of minutes. Will certainly use again .
Excellent Communication
Zoe was a pleasure to deal with, very helpful and answered all my questions.

Very professional and exactly what they said would happen with the process
I was very nervous and sceptical at first, but not by the end. othe…
I was very nervous and sceptical of the whole thing. I thought I could easily be scammed, and that the buyer would try to offer me a really low price because of some obscure technicality. In fact when the driver phoned me to say he would arrive on Friday, my phone gave me a scam warning! But since I was expecting a call, I answered it. Afterwards, I did a "who called me" search. His EE area code had been used in a wide variety of scams!
But things turned out very differently. Everyone from Motorway I spoke to were incredibly helpful and clear. Lots of chase and follow-up messages at every stage. On the Friday morning the driver phoned again to say he was in Carlisle and would be coming by train to Stirling. I told him I would pick him up. Then I got a message from the dealer to say he'd paid me and to check my bank. The money was there.
I met the driver in Stirling, who turned out to be a really chill guy from Lithuania who'd made the UK his home. After checking all was in order, he was off and that was it!
So... I would use Motorway again for sure. I felt taken care of and my scepticism and doubts slowly dwindled as the process progressed. I ended up with over 4x as much as I was offered as a trade-in for my new truck!
So thank you!
