Three failed sales, time-wasting dealers, and zero quality control
I am extremely disappointed with my experience trying to sell my car through Motorway. I have dealt with three separate dealers through their platform now, and every single one has been a complete waste of time.
The first dealer offered £29,000, turned up, and falsely claimed the car had been in a crash just to try and knock the price down. I then had to go through the hassle of proving to Motorway that it had never been in an accident before they would even relist it.
The second dealer offered £27,800 but seemed completely illegitimate. They had no presence on AutoTrader or eBay, and their website was just a broken page filled with placeholder content. For basic safety reasons, I had to ask Motorway to move me to the next bidder.
The third dealer who offered £27,222 ignored me for almost 48 hours. When they finally turned up this morning, they tried to knock £2,000 off the agreed price over a minor, pre-repaired windscreen chip. This chip was already fully declared and photographed on my Motorway listing in the first place.
I tried to contact motorway to complain but was left with no solution or compensation. This dealer also called me after this to ask me to say I "wanted more money" instead of them "jeopardising any future sales" so I said I've given up with trying to sell it and wasn't willing to lie to save their arse from telling motorway they tried to knock me down 2k for something that was already declared! They then said they'll tell motorway I'm no longer looking to sell which again is not true it's a simple case of me giving up with selling on motorway because of these three consecutive awful experiences!
Motorway's dealer vetting is clearly lacking. This whole ordeal has cost me unnecessary stress, hours of wasted time, and £100 in unrecoverable DVLA and insurance fees to remove my private plate for sales that never actually happened. I expected Motorway to atleast compensate me for the plate removal as they said to do this before the sale went through (the sale that did not happen). Avoid them.

Really easy to use good communication…
Really easy to use good communication all round from everyone in the process
Quick sale, fair price
Recently sold my car on Motorway. Very simple to use, all done through their app/site. Auction took place the day after I submitted my car’s pictures. I got slightly less than Motorway had estimated but having got quotes from elsewhere, the final price did sound fair. Would use again, thanks!
Easy, hassle free quick process
The whole process with Motorway was smooth and efficient from start to finish. Step by step guides takes you through exactly what you need to do, making it a simple speedy hassle free process. Ours was a post bereavement sell and Motorway treatment was both sensitive and caring. I would highly recommend to anybody selling a used car. Very good price for the service received. Good price for the car and payment immediate on collection of the car. Brilliant way to sell a car.
Seller be wary, check the fine print & fees
I’ve used Motorway a couple of times in the past and I have always been happy. Fee free, hassle free, no commitment selling.
I recently went to use them again only to find a couple of real negatives.
Firstly the headline price changed significantly once the car profile was built. I will highlight this was for a low miles, 16 month old card with no damage and serviced within the last 6months. Price dropped by £900!
Second a fee of £79?! I did all the work?
When placing the car for sale there is a big commitment button saying ‘I agree to sell if the reserve is met’.
I was assured by someone on the phone (who sounded completely fed up) that there is no commitment….
Once the car was live for sale I had the opportunity for £29.99 to boost the cars profile?
Motorway has turned into a money maker!
I ended up taking my car to a buyer location where they certainly buy any motorcar, and was offered the full valuation quoted with a fee but no other reductions or gimmicks..
Previously I recommended Motorway, now I would look at the alternative.

It was so easy to sell the car
It was so easy to sell the car. It was just disappointing how the buyer didn’t respect the price the chose at auction and gave me absolutely rubbish reasons for the reduction in price eg- hole in the windscreen wiper which would allow for water to fall into the engine.
Also picked up a scratch that I had taken a photo of and told me I hadn’t. They saw me as a woman and were so disrespectful

Easy to use
Easy to use. kept me informed at all times.
Car was picked up and money paid in at the same time
An easy and stress free way to sell…
An easy and stress free way to sell your car at a fair price.
Quick
Quick, easy to access and upload pictures. Selling process was good
Just not happy with price that was offered through buyer.
This was my first time using Motorway…
This was my first time using Motorway to sell a car, and I am genuinely impressed. The entire process—from listing the car to the final collection—was remarkably fast.
The buyer who purchased my vehicle was completely honest and straightforward. Because I was completely transparent in my listing—photographing and detailing every single scratch, dent, and flaw—they had nothing to complain about or use to try and chip away at the price. Being upfront from the start really pays off and leaves no room for haggling at the collection stage.
The car was in great condition for its age. The buyers only asked if there was any room on the price and made their offer. I was happy to accept it because it was still significantly higher than what a part-exchange (part-ex) or WeBuyAnyCar offered, giving me a much better budget for my next vehicle.
Why It's Worth It (The "Double Win")
Selling through Motorway gave me a massive financial advantage because I didn't do a part-exchange:
Better Sale Price:
Motorway beat the traditional trade-in and instant-buying site offers.
Cash Buyer Advantage:
Buying my next car outright with pure cash (without a part-ex) allowed me to negotiate an £1,500 discount on the new vehicle.
You genuinely win on both ends if you plan on buying another car afterwards. I will definitely use Motorway again next time!
Absolutely over the moon
Absolutely over the moon , nearly 1400 more than px or wbac valuation, dealer was super, very professional cannot fault the whole experience
The Motorway app was easy to use though…
The Motorway app was easy to use though extremely specific about the photos .
We were kept up to speed with Car sale and collection .
The only negative thing was the collection and the haggling with husband about the price we would be given .
I'm unsure if I'd use the company again because of this .

Great service
Though the buyer reduced the price. I Found the process easy and straightforward. The payment was swift
Clarity throughout.
The app is very easy to use, making each stage logical and easy to understand.
It is reasonably priced.Communication is clear and available.
Pressure to reduce from original offer
Document upload is impossible if you have older paper license.
Garage who bid on vehicle sent a guy who picked issues with every tiny mark on a 9 year old car to get the original bid reduced and suggested not taking the offer may be an issue as if the car was relisted other garages would think there was an issue with the car and put in very low offers, so felt under pressure to accept drastically reduced offer.

Great service
Great service, easy to create the advert and upload photos, step by step instructions helped you do it all.
Buyer contacted me after I accepted the winning bid and agreed a day to collect. Payment was made on collection.
