This app once worked fine but doesn't now.

This app once worked fine and I managed a month perfectly fine but now I haven't received my Post Office Voucher a week after I redeemed it from the app. I've emailed them and they simply said "There is a backlog and it will be with you shortly." ---This was 4 days ago and still nothing...
Definitely turning into some kind of scam. Luckily, my SIM card hasn't been blocked unlike others so I guess that's a plus.

This is a fantastic app that actually works... unfortunately the people behind O2 decided they wanted to be greedy and make it so that if you use the app your phone gets barred so I can no longer use it but if you're not on O2 then go for it because it works 😊😊

Do not touch!

Do not touch!! If you have got it DELETE IT NOW! You will get barred from your network provider and potentially lose money for credit/top up/contract if your sim is barred. This has happened to my household in the last week with money being lost. This is a complete scam that I too was roped into.
Mofono should be shut down.

You will get your sim barred!

Used for over a month and even managed to get £5 out of it. However today my network permanently banned my account and sim. This app is against the T&C of many if not all networks. DO NOT USE!

Fake crap

This is the most corrupt piece of trash I've ever known, I downloaded this app and a month later my mobile network provider has barred my sim card making it impossible to make or recieve phone calls, texts or even use my data. I have made £5 from this app but it has caused me to lose out on £25 worth of credit on my contract. Now looking to take legal action as this shouldn't be the case, I'll see you in court.

Scam app

Scam app, this will get you banned by your mobile network for fraudulent activity.

Theses cons are making £100's - £1000's per person each month from the mobile networks they are scamming, do not go near then you will only end up being banned from using your SIM.

Had the app for over 2 months and…

Had the app for over 2 months and managed to get over £40 on it with bonuses for recommending my family members, everything was working well until few days ago my son's phone got blocked by operator, managed to get them unlock it and totally unaware kept using the app until today his and my wife's phone was locked again due to breach of t&c regarding third party having access to your sim card, it qas OK with three network unlocking my son's phone again but giff gaff wasn't so helpful and permanently barred my wife's account. STAY AWAY from this app!!!

People are getting their phone services…

It texts numbers belonging to networks other than the one you're using. When a message is sent to a different network to yours', your network is charged what is called a "termination charge". This can be seen as a small charge in return for them directing your message to the right place, like the price of a stamp in the post.

Initially, the app asks its "home server" for a list of all the mobile numbers it has, excluding those on your network. Every 5 minutes, it picks a random number and fires off a text message filled with useless, unimportant data.

As the message is basically garbage data (a unique user ID, the (incorrectly generated) date, and 100 random characters), the termination fee is for nothing, the SMS gets thrown away by the other network or the receiver's device/server.

You might ask how Mofono make money from this? They likely bought number ranges from mobile networks, on the agreement that they will charge a certain termination fee for the message. The network keeps the normal amount of that, and Mofono take the rest. This is how they make their money and pass (very very minute) amounts on to you (about 0.45p/text).

If the above is right, Mofono end up with large amounts of numbers across all major networks, a share of the SMS termination fees, access to the main network's systems, and a way to get your services barred.

In a nutshell...
- You will be barred if you use it
- It sends texts every 5 minutes to other networks
- Your network gets charged exorbitant amounts for each of these messages (which is a lot on the already thin margins)
- Mofono end up with a bunch of profit
- You end up with barely anything in comparison
- We'll all end up with price rises if it was allowed

RUN AWAY. IS LIKE HAVING A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL

RUN AWAY. IS LIKE HAVING A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL.

It sounds amazing having money for nothing. YES IT IS. But obvs in this life nothing is free. The app works. Works 100% but obvs they dont tell you that are going to block your number for spam. They are paying you to spam people with texts without your knowledge. So I had giffgaff and they said I should leave their network and simply look for another one just because of an app that looks legit but its shady.
Do you think is worthy to lose your phone number or your network to have around 5/10£ at the end of the month? If you think is worthy then go on, if you think its not. Then leave it.
The app does what it promises... but you will pay the consequences. Now I bought a new sim.
