nothing all day then called at 8.30pm!! & told delivery in half hour (would have been unlikely as driver was in london and were well over an hour away). no scheduling, no tracking, no updates, really not difficult in this day & age. delivery at 9-10pm & then set-up not acceptable or wanted.

Hired hoist for 9 days Malaga apartment. On supply day driver said would have to collect from van and push hoist 150m over 2 roads as MEHD should have told me couldn't park nearby and he wasn't prepared to help. No charge on hoist and then told me never could collect on day/time agreed with MEHD [alternative to late due to flight] Collected hoist day early. On return complained but basically they said tough even though they didn't even follow their own T&C's. No reply to further email
Bad company
I used this company to order an electric scooter for some clients going on a cruise. It was meant to be dropped off on the Monday afternoon but when it didn’t turn up I tried to call the emergency number. There was not answer just a machine. On the Tuesday it still didn’t turn up but this time managed to get through. They said the order was cancelled as they don’t take orders over the weekend.
There was nothing on the booking saying they didn’t accept orders at the weekend so for the entire cruise my clients struggled. Never ever us this company again.

I ordered a self propelled bathroom chair and when I got to the hotel I found one without wheels. After calling them they rudely told me to contact via email. Then they gave me a bul**it excuse saying the one I ordered was broken/unsafe. I found myself on a foreign country unable to use the toilet. ALWAYS look for reviews before hand from now on.

This is a shocking company that takes advantage of the fact that the majority of their customers are disabled .. The hoist they rented us was would not fit in the front door ..They refused to exchange or refund us ..We had loaned the equipment for a long time so the cost was in the £1000s .. The response I got was "You'll have to take us to court" You should've checked the terms and conditions .. now we have no hoist and no money

My adult disabled daughter was hugely looking forward to being able to join the rest of the family in visiting interesting places, and the fact that the hired wheelchair ran out of battery almost immediately soured the holiday for her and for us. How can this company be shut down?
Family Honeymoon
My Husband and I got married in June 2019 and decided to take the family with us on our honeymoon to a lovely venue in Oundle. In total there were 13 of us, including our pet dogs, ranging from ages 4-85 years old. Due to the nature of the holiday we felt it appropriate to hire two scooters as my parents are unable to walk far and they wanted to have the same experiences we did. Before the wedding, we were incredibly busy and unfortunately failed to read the appalling reviews of this company. I suppose having worked for the NHS for many years, I felt mobility companies would provide a great service helping people and we would have no issues. HOW WRONG I WAS. The scooters were ordered and paid for - they arrived on the correct day however, it was later in the day (we waited until 3pm for delivery so lost the day we had paid for). The boxes that the scooters arrived in were almost falling to pieces, and when we got the scooters assembled they looked very tired and in need of repair. We carefully followed the assembly instructions, and noticed straight away when we plugged one of them in that the charging light on the box was red as oppose to the green it should be. One of the scooters had black tape around the charging unit which I photographed, the baskets looked as though they had been crashed into, and parts of the equipment for acceleration were also covered in tape. So, we went out as a family with my parents on the scooters for a walk, half an hour into our walk, my fathers scooter broke down quite a way from our accommodation. Fortunately, the grounds manager rescued him in his four wheel drive and returned him and the broken down scooter to our accommodation. I then rang Mobility Equipment Hire Direct who informed me they had no more scooters and that they would pick up the scooter - I asked for a refund at this time, but MICHELLE declined to comment on my request. The parcel was picked up. The next day, another driver came requesting the second scooter but I explained we had it booked for another day, I rang Mobility Equipment Hire Direct who said they had made a mistake. I took pictures of the scooter fittings and the fact that one of the chargers never achieved a green light. On arrival back home, I was absolutely appalled to read the email from the company stating that it was US who had damaged the vehicle fitting - we were not entitled to a refund as we had 'caused the damage', however they wouldn't charge us for the damage we had apparently caused! This experience did ruin the holiday for my parents, who I feel are quite vulnerable and trusting - Mobility Equipment Hire Direct were very quick to take money from them for inadequate and dangerous goods. The people operating this company are thieves, with no regard for their customers or the job they are doing. They should not be allowed to hire out sub-standard, broken equipment to vulnerable people.

Avoid this company! They sent me faulty equipment which as unsafe to use. I sent a video demonstrating the fault and they claimed they never received it.
When the equipment was returned, they denied there was a fault and offered no apology.
Mallorca branch…
I attempted to use the Mallorca branch of this company. Their advert stated free delivery island wide as there were four offices. First I emailed my requirements stating I was already living on the island, without transport so needed delivery to home address on east side of island very near to one of their offices. The reply email said could I go to Palma airport and collect item??? I replied again stating my requirements. This time I had a text reply saying they would collect the 'scooter' at 1000am next morning??? So i replied to the text saying there must be some confusion and again stating my requests. A day later I had a reply saying the office near me was closed and anyway I was too far away for a delivery!! Taking into account that probably most people using this site to hire equipment for mobility purposes and obviously need help this company does not have the experience to be in this business. The outcome was that I did eventually hire successfully from a lovely Spanish man in Palma who delivered free of charge exactly what I wanted and I even got two days hire free because I would be able to take the item back myself. Mr Scooterman you're a star.

They have left my mum without any form of mobility equipment 2days before we go to London, they didnt even call to let her know that they have refunded the money as they no longer have it available via email (which she doesn’t check often) rang them up to have them an opportunity to rectify the issue and all I got was I can’t do this I can’t do that I can’t I can’t I can’t no help whatsoever and now up the creek with no paddle,how they expect her to get around London with no scooter or wheelchair is ridiculous considering the time of year it’s going to be hard to find someone who will Have availability at such short notice

Note the name of the company I am reviewing is Mobility Equipment Hire Direct. They are a U K based company and not th Mobility Direct company, Dublin based, that appears in the title. My apologies for any confusion, but I was unable to edit the headline name on Trustpilot.Take care using this company. I ordered a standaid hoist and a commode/ shower chair to enable me and my wife to get away for a much needed 2 day break in a hotel in north Scotland. This was to be our first break since I became wheelchair bound following a stroke. On arrival we discovered that what had been delivered was a full body hoist instead of a stand aid.. this was something that my wife could not safely operate on her own. This mistake almost caused disaster. Because. We could see that I may not be bleto be transferred for toileting and showering. It was a bank holiday weekend and mobility equipment-hire direct said they were unable to correct their mistake. Instead they made a full refund ofthe cost of the hoist hire, but refused to refund the cost of the commode/shower chair hire. I think that approach was unrealistic, given the seriously negative impact their mistake had on our break. This was unsatisfactory customer service. I will never use this company again, and I strongly advice everyone else to avoid, if possible. Instead, go direct to the hoist manufacturers, Arjo Huntleigh. They also hire equipment. I have no direct experience of them in this capacity, but they can hardly perform worse than Mobility equipment hire direct, who are unhelpful and useless

Hired a hoist for a disabled person in a wheelchair to be delivered to a hotel in St Austell (Cornwall).
After a 6 hour train journey and a taxi journey, the disabled lady and her 75 year old husband arrived at the hotel ready for a good nights sleep.
Instead they found the hoist in a box, ready for assembly!!!
After several hours struggling to put the thing together (with some help from the hotel staff) they discovered it now required 4 hours charging before use.
After the suggested 4 hours they attempted to use the hoist but found it would not slide under the bed.
A very tired 75 year old tried to get his wife in bed manually and ended up tearing the ligaments in her knee.
What sort of company wouls supply a "self-assembly" hoist to a disabled person, that required a 4 hour charge and did not think to mention any of this as well as the fact that you required a certain amount of clearance under the bed to use it.

Total scam avoid it at any cost. They don't guarantee time of delivery, though when you are making the reservation you are not aware of that. In addition, they charge a substantial delivery charge. They sent the wheelchair by UPS, which meant that we were required to wait all day in the apartment to receive it. We requested cancelation as we didn't want to waste a day of vacation waiting for the wheelchair to arrive. They didn't issue a refund and we lost all we had paid. Don't fall for this scam, and avoid dealing with them.

I hired a Mobility car from this company for my Mum who has Cancer and struggles to walk, I had it delivered to Centre Parcs in Elevedon. When I arrived at the Venue I went to collect the buggy whilst my Mum sat in the car, after I unpacked the cart and set it up the battery was flat and had 0 charge in it, What use is a buggy hired for a disabled person if it is delivered without a charged battery that takes 10 hours to charge. I contacted their customer services department and they didn't give a monkeys about my situation and I had to hire an additional buggy from Centre Parcs themselves at an additional cost. I would AVOID this company if you wish to hire any disabled equipment, they do not care about disabled people and they do not care about customer service.

I booked a manual wheelchair for my Father who cannot walk due to a stroke. The wheelchair was supposed to be delivered to the hotel in Cambrils at 1pm for their arrival but after 3 hours it had not arrived. I called the number given at booking but as it was Sunday the office was closed but the message said the messages where listened to regularly so I left a message then 1 hour later left another as I has not had a reply & my Father had been sat in the hotel reception for nearly 5 hours !!!! Eventually after 6 calls to the number in Spain a guy answered & said he forgot to deliver it...no apology or anything. The company never even replied to my messages left on its UK answer machine. Absolutely disgusting a disables man left for 5 1/2 hours with no wheelchair you should be ashamed AVOID AVOID AVOID

A mobile scooter was booked on my behalf.After returning from Cyprus I found it was twice as expensive so thought I'd go online to check.I could indeed get one for half the price.As requested I cancelled in writing to be told I was only getting 50% back.Whilst I totally disagreed with it I am still waiting for that refund.They ignore my e mails and when I proposed taking further action the response initially was "its down to you" MOST UNPROFESSIONAL!.. I requested an e mail or call from the owner Michael Davis but what a surprise NOTHING..To them I may be a small fish in the pond but I've not given up swimming yet....... ...They should not be dealing with the disabled as they are totally UNCARING.I....AVOID ....
