We pay so many taxes for the lousy service they offer. You want to travel early in the morning or at night and they don't work, they are late and don't give any information.
Same for trains especially in Dybbolsbro which only takes you to Kobenhavn H.
Look out tourists
Purchased a multiuse card. Tried to understand how it worked. Couldn't find anyone. Did not have complete English instructions. I found out I overpaid for my fare (a lot) but didn't use the card scanner properly and was fined 750 kr. Given how much I paid, I definitely wasn't trying to jump the fare. Don't bother appealing, you just get a template of a reply and denial. I believe they deliberately prey on tourists.
Never trust Copenhagen public transport
Even one star is too much for the Copenhagen subway and train system. There’s always something wrong in this tiny city.
"I would discourage everyone
"I would discourage everyone, whether local or tourist, from using the metro system in Copenhagen.
The trains are overcrowded, frequently face technical issues, are rarely on time, and customer service is unhelpful. Any issues you encounter are considered your own responsibility, and there is no empathy to be found."
We are stuck for 10 min at the station…
We are stuck for 10 min at the station and they can’t just open the doors at least for people to get out. Most unreliable public transport in Denmark! The M3 in particular! Facing issue every week!
The worst metro service I have ever…
The worst metro service I have ever experienced, it is very expensive, however, I wouldn't mind if it was at least good, but very often it has delays and you simply have to wait and arrive late to your destination (we have been detained for up to 20 minutes at a station). I have also had days during rush hour when the escalators are out of service, it doesn't have air conditioning either, whenever I ask local people why they don't have air conditioning they say that there are very few hot days a year, the truth is I have been there for 4 months in Copenhagen and most days have been quite hot and even humid, so inside the metro and trains it is really disgusting. In my opinion, with 4 hot months that are 1/3 of the year, it is more than enough to use air conditioning. I am Chilean and in my third world country the train and metro service has at least air conditioning as well as in many places in the world. Finally, I find it meaningless that there are stations where the machines to top up the transport card are only 2 floors higher than where you board the metro, so if you check in at the machines on the level where you board and you do not have at least 70dkk You will have to go up 2 floors again to be able to top up your card. The only thing that I think works perfectly is the inspection, I have never been inspected so many times in a transportation system.
By far the worst metro system ever
By far the worst metro system I have ever encountered. Their payment system is set-up to ensure you make a mistake and they can collect fines from people.
Why bother
Why bother
Why bother. Every journey there are delays or other problems. Every other country is able to run an underground system that works. Ticket conducters and info persomal are either rude or stupid- most times both. Expensive, non functioning and dirty carridges. How did this company get the contract to run the metro - corruption no doubt
A Taxi Will Cost You The Same Amount for Less Hassle
Copenhagen is a beautiful city, but what takes place below is an absolute train wreck. I've visited cities in a lot of countries and a lot of states, and this has been by far the worst metro system I've ever encountered.
The trains are constantly delayed, and it's recommended that you buy tickets through the app, but there's no stable wifi connection for you to access the app. It seems completely understaffed and if you can somehow get a metro steward to pay attention to you to answer a question, they don't even seem to know what's going on.
DO NOT buy a rejsekort card. It is a tourist trap. There are no clear directions or signage on how to use the card and the scanners, and apparently if you don't check in correctly, your ticket isn't considered valid EVEN IF YOU PAID FOR IT AND CAN PROVE IT. Also, if you have funds leftover, they can only be reimbursed to a Danish bank account, or turned in in-person at specified locations for cash. So if you leave the country, or even the city, you're out of luck.
The fare for an adult is around 24 DKK ($3.50 USD) which is pushing expensive, especially in comparison with many other European metros. And if you receive a "fare evasion" fee, it will be 750 DKK ($100 USD) on top of the ticket that you already paid for. Such a scam.
In my experience, the steward (ID 21252) actually lied to my face when I directly asked him if there was an issue with my prepaid ticket and told me I was fine to get off at my stop. He did not give me any reason for why he requested my passport and started writing down my personal information. When I got off at my stop, he slapped me with a fee and spoke to me in a rude and condescending tone. When I read that I could contest it, he mocked me and said "okay, yeah, you go do that then."
I contested the fee and it took literal weeks for them to come back with the response "we are obligated to treat all passengers equally according to the Joint National Travel Regulations" by which they mean they are obligated to assume and treat all passengers like criminals. So I was forced to pay more than 30x the original fare.
I mentioned the steward's poor behavior in my emails while contesting the fee, and was given no indication that the steward had even been reprimanded.
To the Copenhagen Metro: I am appalled that you would allow your employees to act in this manner. I felt unsafe in the moment, publicly humiliated, and disrespected. It is unacceptable to lie to your passengers. I do not feel that I was treated equally nor fairly by this steward, rather I felt targeted. I have lost respect for this transportation system.
To Potential Travelers: AVOID THE METRO. It'll be better to take a taxi; you'll pay the same amount, but at least you'll be treated better.
Better Skip the Metro
The metro system is not representative of a capital city. Tiny carriages, hardly any seating, no ventilation, no air conditioning, the trains are already full at the airport - because neither the frequency nor the capacity is sufficient. Currently (02/24) two lines have been completely out of service for weeks - just because a line is being expanded by a few stations at its current end. Finding the “replacement bus” is a challenge. There are no detailed signs anywhere. The replacement bus for line 4 only runs every 15 minutes - not everyone who wants to ride can fit on it. The stations are not barrier-free and there are no station announcements on the bus. Passengers look at their Google maps and marvel and discuss where the best place to walk could be. The time displays at Bus stops show something that doesn't correspond to reality. And the “Rejseplanen” app is also a product from the realm of fantasy. One wonders why the company publishes timetables at all.
The Danes should be embarrassed of this system I’m only giving them one star because I…
I’m only giving them one star because I couldn’t choose zero!
Honestly, just walk if you can.
The Metro is overpriced and understaffed. As such, if you are unfortunate enough to lose a ticket (which you can prove you bought) you will be fined 750dkk and treated like a criminal. Pretty sure the stewards flock to the route out of the airport to prey on hassled, baggage-laden foreigners as we didn’t see another steward on the Metro for the entire trip (when we hadn’t lost our ticket!!)
Do not be fooled into thinking these people will help you, they are just waiting to pounce! Also, the tickets time out, so any sense of spontaneity or leisure is taken from your journey - it was all just incredibly stressful!
It almost never works every time I take…
It almost never works every time I take it mainly when it rains or it’s cold, I started biking from Vestamager to Søborg because of it and had to buy an el-culpe. It ALWAYS charges the fee even if it’s not working, they should at least deactivate the check in. And the announcements are super low it’s hard to hear them. A lot of the times no one knows what’s happen or when will it be working again.
Honestly
Honestly, it’s terrible compared to other countries. Kind of embarrassing 😅 other countries strives to improve, Denmark just tries to save costs while increasing costs? Distrusting, you’d think better of Denmark.
Just do better, ok?

Always late
Terrible! They are always late, it’s extremely expensive so at least they should provide a good service but not, they always have technical problems, so don’t count with then to be on time the airport
Complete disregard for environmental…
Complete disregard for environmental impact when building new lines, creating a lot of noise pollution and refusing to take any action to mitigate the problem.
I will not ever step a foot on Denmark…
I will not ever step a foot on Denmark because of my bad experience with the metro. On Valentines day??? Seriously! . Zeroooo EQ staff. No consideration of country’s tourists. So much for happiest country in the world! Hahaha. Fyi i was here for 2 days. Making this account just to post this review too. I was utterly embarrassed in the metro in front of everyone like i would probably not have money (because I’m brown?). The collector acted very very rudely which I think wouldn’t be the case if my skin would be rich looking in his eyes. This company should be boycotted if you ask me.
I live in Norway, much much much better regulated and stringent than here. But not opportunistic as such. I lost sleep today because of this, I have never broken a rule or avoided paying petty metro fares. But you guys made me feel and look petty in front of everyone. I hope you get what you deserve.
