During a car rental in Treviso (Italy), I experienced an incident that prevented me from accessing the vehicle.
The supplier’s staff initially informed me that there was no spare key available and that I would need to rely on external assistance, which created a situation of stress and uncertainty.
Subsequently, I was required to pay €100 in cash as a condition to unlock the vehicle.
Under the pressure of potentially missing my flight and having no real alternatives, I was forced to accept this cash payment, without being provided with any receipt, invoice, or proof of payment.
The vehicle was ultimately opened after making the payment, which clearly demonstrates that the service was indeed provided by the supplier, contradicting the initial information given.
I have submitted proof of cash withdrawal at the time of the incident. However, the supplier (Locauto) denies having received the payment and has not issued any documentation, while the intermediary company (DiscoverCars) refuses any responsibility, relying solely on the supplier’s version without conducting any independent verification.
I consider these facts to constitute an abusive and unacceptable practice, involving a cash payment requested under pressure and without documentation, leaving the consumer in a clear situation of disadvantage and lack of protection, contrary to European consumer protection regulations.
Therefore, I formally request the intervention of the competent authority to obtain a refund of the €100 paid, as well as a review of the supplier’s conduct in Treviso (Italy).

Excellent experience with Locauto in Italy! I was able to use my debit card without any issues. I opted for the full insurance, which gave me great peace of mind and meant no hidden costs afterwards. The car was in great condition and the service was professional. Everything was crystal clear. I would definitely rent from them again!

I've never been so satisfied with a company car. All the guys working there, Veronica, Chiara, and Alle, are incredible communicators, smiling, kind, and helpful at Treviso Airport.

Where has this company been before? We got our car on Friday, April 10th, and returned on Tuesday 14th.
Easy process, just fill a form, get the car, return it as it should be, and that's it. Prices are great, I guess.
I recommend it to anyone, and of course, everywhere I will travel in Italy gonna get a car from them for sure.

I have rented a few times with Locauto and the company always provides a great service.

Very bad experience

The staff was helpful and even that they said that the car which had been reserved for us had some problems they quickly found suitable replacement.

The process was very easy and the policy has no hidden taxes, as I met at other car rentals that tried to chip extra money for a bit of dust on the car.
The lady at the info booth provided me with a free upgrade for the car, and was very helpful.
Next time I'll come in Italy, I'll rent with the same company.
