Water softener and filter service
We’ve had a Kinetico water softener literally for decades and been extremely pleased with them. Once installed and apart from adding salt blocks you can forget them and just enjoy the soft water.
Our current system includes a reverse osmosis water filter and is on an annual maintenance contract. It’s just been serviced by Charlie who was punctual, polite and pleasant, and serviced both softener and filter in a timely and tidy way. He also advised us about when the softener needed its membrane changed. All good and a job done well. Very pleased.

I bought a Kinetico Kube after reading it helps with skin issues and costco was selling which they stopped now.
All was good for 2+ year and suddenly water started leaking.
called up kinetico and the call out charge was 145 if I didnt buy their cover, 55 if I bought their cover. This was explained to me so I agreed to buy the cover. This was on the 1st of May 2026 and on 5th May I get a mail with the terms and one highlighted part said that I need to pay £89 if the unit cannot be repaired. I write back saying I was not aware if this clause when I signed up. I wouldnt have signed otherwise.
Since the lady said that if it could not be repaired I did not think that in 2+ years a unit would get to that stage and I said its ok.
Engineer arrived in 18th May and as soon as he opened the unit the water was running which was why I called him.He started taking pictures and said the unit is irrepairable and offered another unit for about £1700.
when I asked why did the fault occur so soon, he said its a basic unit and they dont sell these any more.
His mannerism clearly indicated he came just to say it was irreparable and not with the jntention to repair.
After an hour he calls up to say his manager said they can repair the unit but the cost would be £400+
Is this a joke?
The engineer doesn't know whether it could be repaired?
Is he only just dancing to the company's tunes?
The company is supposed to be in this business for 50yrs so ..do they not know the consumers act 2015?
Neither was this item fit for purpose nor did it last a considerable time nor are the parts available for repair.
when I gave a negative feedback an advisor called uo to discuss and I told her I cant pay £89 for something which couldnt be repaired.
Here initial language was the same as the engineer's that it was a basic unit.
what does a basic unit mean?
is it a unit which should be written off in a couple of years to cheat people and rob them of their money?
Is this 50yrs of research that the resin cannot be replaced nor the parts available?
The staff were only speaking the company's language.
When I said I cant pay that amount, the advisor said I agreed to it and was reading out the mails to prove I was wrong so I told her who would expect the unit to last for such a short time.Then she spoke to her manager and decided I pay £ 55 and be done with it.
Im not done with it!!
Will be taking this further.
Before writing this review Ive researched and there are other similar units lasting longer and parts are available too.
Anybody reading this I would say to
avoid this company and even more their service and cover!!

Breakdown visit.
The whole process of booking a service was seamless, and on the day the engineer (Charlie) called to advise a time window which was adhered too. Which is great.
Sadly for me my unit had terminally failed so a new unit is required. That’s life I guess but the whole experience has been excellent (if not a bit expensive!!) and I’ve now a date for a new unit. All very efficient. 5* from me

Excellent service provided by engineer Charlie. He explained everything thoroughly and how to resolve the issue we had with our water softener using too much salt. Charlie also gave us some great advice for when it comes to changing our unit. Thank you!
