Poor customer service, take days to respond. My product was ordered on the 9th October with 2 day express delivery, it finally arrived on the 23rd October after many, many chasing emails. I emailed customer services, they did reply after 2 days. They informed me the issue was with Evri, (the fact they use Evri as a courier is an issue in itself). They asked me to chase Evri for my goods even though its their problem to rectify. After my relentless chasing with Evri I finally received my goods. Poor service throughout and little regard for their customers!
My chefbox pro 2.0 wont fully cook rice of chicken with the recommended settings of even 10+ minutes longer. Trying to reach for a replacement but customer service is not responding.
I purchased the steamer for car camping (as well as the converter). It never worked in the car at all. Upon enquiring I was directed to the disclaimer that it might not be compatible with all vehicles. Anyway, the unit is so small and light, I would probably have never used it except in a pinch. If I want to steam something, this would be about the most annoying and inefficient way to do it that I can think of. Waste of money.
Does what a hot pot should do. Two settings of heating. Nothing different from ones you get from Walmart for 15 dollars ( although in plastics) The stainless interior discolored after the first use, contacted customer service for possible exchange or refund without success. Simply another trap for cheap, Chinese made product with poor customer service. ( However, nothing cheap about the price!). Do NOT recommend.
Extremely poor customer service - ordered a set of two of the products and wanted to make a change to the order. The customer service rep agreed and said they are looking at it to update AFTER I received an email saying it was shipped.
Been working to get a refund on this since April 5th when they received the order back from me - unopened and unused. I have sent multiple emails / called multiple times and even tried to reach out on Facebook. However the moment the matter comes to a refund that I was TOLD I would get, there is no response.
Such a sham of a company.
I bought the Itaki Chefbox Bento Lunch. Needless to say, the containers are extremely small. The plastic on the box is thin and cheap. Very flexible plastic that won't hold up long.
IMO, this product is extremely overpriced but what you get, small containers and thin, cheap plastic.
We got the breakfast station for our daughter for Christmas. It did not work. Months later-we get an item shipped from Walmart Nostalgia brand. I am disgusted with the service!
After nearly two years, Trustpilot, has emailed me to advise that if I don’t add more detail to this review, it will be taken down.
According to Trustpilot, Itaki wants more information so that they can better understand my ‘experience’ and if I don’t comply within three days, Trustpilot will have to remove my review as not genuine. Which will be nice for Itaki.
It seems very odd to me that they are interested now, when they certainly weren’t back then. I can’t help wondering whether they are just wanting my review removed - hoping that two years on I’ve forgotten all about it - and Trustpilot is giving them that opportunity.
However, I’ll play the game. Nearly two years ago, while making an extended stay in a Thai temple as a volunteer, I ordered a Bento box - small electric steamer - from Itaki. I paid extra for 5-10 day express delivery.
The item did not arrive on time, so I checked their tracking and discovered that it was still in transit in China on day sixteen. Itaki did not reply to my first few emails but eventually made the effort and told me it was stuck in Thai Customs, out of Itaki’s control. At that point, their tracker had it still in China.
It was a month, a great deal of trouble on my part and no discernible effort on Itaki’s, before I finally received the item and it didn’t work. The inner pot was badly dented and the on/off switch was loose and rattled, the indicator light didn’t come on and the pot didn’t heat.
Again, there was much communication from me and very little from Itaki - one of their few emails seemed to blame me for the pot not working. ‘Did you put water in the pot? It won’t work if you don’t.’
In summary, the pot was very late in arriving and was defective and Itaki’s responses to both of those issues were utterly indifferent. Their communication was intermittent, reluctant and at times misleading.
I discarded the pot, wrote an honest review about my bad ‘experience’ with Itaki and resolved not to deal with them again.
I hope this satisfies Trustpilot and Itaki’s request for further information.
However, I suspect that it is merely a ploy to be able to remove the review, as I was supposed to provide a reference number, which I do not have, and I was not asked for anything specific.
My original review was quite specific and has stood unquestioned for almost two years, so I am rather dubious of the motives behind this request.
It took a month for my Itaki Bento to be delivered (despite having paid extra for express delivery). Itaki kept telling me it was held up in Thai Customs but, according to their own tracker, it didn’t leave China until day 16.
When it arrived at the local courier, they couldn’t read the address in English, so it sat there for another week and a half - with Itaki still saying it was in Thai Customs - until Itaki finally gave me the number for the courier. I had a Thai speaker ring them to explain the address and it arrived within two hours.
So much for Itaki customer service.
I was heading away to another part of Thailand the day the Bento finally arrived, so didn’t have a chance to test it until today.
The box and the outer plastic casing of the Bento is intact, so no damage was done in transit. However the inner metal pot is badly dented. We beat the dents out fairly well. It’s not pretty but at least it’s useable. So much for Itaki quality control.
I put some eggs and water in the pot and switched it on. It doesn’t work. The on/off switch presses in, but it is loose, rattles, the light doesn’t come on and the pot doesn’t heat.
So, waited a month and all I got was garbage.
I note that another review says that at least Itaki will replace defective goods but I’m leaving the country in a fortnight and don’t have a month to wait to get another piece of their junk.
I purchased the Bento Go and Shabuki pot, requesting for UK plugs/adapters. It arrived with plugs that does NOT fit any UK household and they looked like toy plugs. Even if they fitted, I would be worried about plugging it in. Itakico refused to refund and I have to pay the international postage to return the items. From the website I thought that I was purchasing a Japanese products sold in the USA. It is actually from China. Very disappointed at my stupidity for not making better checks.
Buy Itaki nothing else since they do not last
I needed a replacement on my pro n got it
Could have been my fault
Since then this one lasts n lasts wish I could afford the chef but $135 australian

I have previous purchased the Itaki Shabuki Pot, the Itaki Lunch Box and today have ordered the ChefBox 2.0. I'm hoping the quality improves as the elements burn the food onto the bottom in what appears to be a crescent shape, indicating the element doesn't heat evenly on the Shabuki Pot. I also had teething issues with the Lunch Box. For the money, there better be some improvements or its the Ebay cheapies for me next time round.
The stainless steel pot inside was warped and dented, I became suspicious since the bottom has a sticker - "Certificate Surveyor 01 20220813 QC PASS". Website states FULL refund or replacement within 30 days, their response," we only have the photo of the container inside, we would be more than happy to replace the whole unit for you if that concerns you. With that said, if we only have the container documentation, we can only refund you for the value of the containers, so would you kindly send us a photo and or video of the other stated safety concerns of the defect on the main unit? Ive asked for Manufactures Safety Data no reply no refund, no replacement offer now. Will report as per other reviews if not resolved by next week.
This company is a scam, haven’t received the item and order placed over two weeks ago and they have gone unresponsive. First red flag was that the company indicated the product would ship on 11/31/2022 which doesn’t exist, lots of typos on their website as it’s a product from China. After I emailed them the first time, they THEN sent a tracking number that has not moved in over 11 days so I presume that tracking number is fake and now they have stopped responding to my emails after taking my money. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY, it is a fraudulent company, took the money, sent a fake tracking and stopped responding.
Avoid this company at all cost.
This company sells cheap low quality product with high price. And they refuse to take their product back and give a refund. If you dispute the purchase amount through your payment service and pay a hefty price to ship the product back (international shipping to canada btw), they will refuse to provide clearance information for the carrier to delivery the package.
Dealing with this company is a nightmare. So do it at your own risk.
When a company have a name sounds like japanese and in reality it sells some cheap chinese junk you should be wondering why.
If you really want to have something similar just go to ebay or amazon, you can buy a similar product (with similar or better quality) for less than half the price with shipping included.
The Itaki Pro steamer is NOT RETURNABLE. Itaki offers replacements for defective items but no returns. The language in their return policy on their website is very misleading. The "Itaki Pro" is way overpriced for a flimsy product and I am extremely disappointed that I cannot return it. Very disappointed with this company that makes their products sound Japanese, but they're actually designed in Canada and made in China.
Handy for travels and quality is decent. Lasted me a year and half so far. Looking for the measuring cup though you can't really buy that if you lose it..
I was actually looking where to buy the car adapter compatible with itaki when I stumbled across this trustpilot. I'm quite shocked honestly, I've had mine for 3 years now and never had issues! In fact I even joined several Itaki recipe groups a few months back, the facebook Itaki chef users group I like to browse has thousands of members. There's a ton of other smaller ones as well, and to me almost everyone there seems happy and sharing their recipe ideas! If I recall I've seen a few people on rare occasions inquiring about their packages getting lost or taking too long but overall never seen so much negativity! In my experience they been very reliable little cookers and the customer service has been great in my experience although that was almost 3 years ago. They replaced my stolen unit for free and it's still going strong! Ordered one for my dad in Missouri last month who's always driving his tow truck around, shipped in about 2 days and arrived within the week. No complaints from me!
This company is nothing but a scam.
STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND DO NOT PURCHASE ITAKI CO PRODUCTS. IF YOU'VE PLACED AN ORDER, ABORT!
Same experience with other reviewers. Too bad I didn't read these reviews prior to purchasing.
They do not ship within the shipping timeline, then say something "messed up" or they "forgot" to add tracking and order was already shipped.
As per their website: "Orders are processed within 24-48 Hours of purchase, and shipped the following day after the processing day."
They then proceed to LIE and attempt to charge you fraudulent fees when you want to cancel.
Their refund policy is for a FULL refund, meanwhile they try to steal money from you saying download materials are intellectual property and in order to prevent illegal distribution, they will charge you a fee (huh?). They also charge fees to cancel orders.
This is how they make their money, by charging consumers fraudulent fees.
Email from ITAKI CO rep Joanne T. "Please also note any digital downloads for the Recipe Book will not be fully refundable ($10) as they are considered IP properties of the Brand and protected under DMCA laws in order to prevent illegal distribution.
Also, a refund processing fee will be deducted from the total refund amount upon the cancellation process."
Due to their deceptive business practice, I've filed complaints with both the FTC as they have a warehouse in the Fresno, CA and Ontario's Ministry of Government and Consumer Services since the company is based in Toronto, Canada.
If you want to support a Canadian company, buy a mini Instant Pot instead available at major retailers that actually honour their return/refund policy.
This is just another fly by night garbage company. I've screen recorded their website and have everything documented.
Do not buy this junk.
I ordered something that was supposed to be have 4-6 day shipping timeframe and even signed up for updates. I didn’t get any sort of update for a week so I emailed them and was informed that it had been shipped but the warehouse had just not provided the tracking number. Sounds convenient and all, but it looks to me like it’s still sitting in California and was just officially shipped the day my email was read, but sent with 2-day shipping. I’m with the other guy here about them. Probably just get a knock-off on Amazon that will actually ship it to you without you having to ask for the thing you just paid $65 for. You’d really think they’d stay on top of this if they wanted the product to sell, because I was reluctant to purchase it solely from the previous review on here, but I told myself it was probably just an unlucky customer and that it couldn’t be the case for me as well. Nope. Save both money and time, that’s what I’d say
Update to my other review.
After my review, Itaki contacted me and said my order was shipped using the wrong method. They said they were going to ship me a new one using express shipping and that I'd have it by that weekend (they contacted me on a Friday) or early during the weekday. Its now Thursday lmao and no lunch box (the supposed new one they wanted to ship that was supposed to be here days ago, or the original one, which god knows what country or planet that's on at this point). They also said they can't give me a refund until the lunch box gets here, which it probably never will. They also said they'll "try" to give me a refund for the express shipping I paid for (aka I'll never see my money again).
I emailed them yesterday, thatwas ignored. Today I emailed them again, more ignoring. Safe to say this company really is a scam. When you go on their website, you'll immediately see a banner that says they want Youtubers/influencers to market their product. I've seen a lot of reviews on Youtube too, they were good reviews (obviously).
But that's what this company relies on. More traffic to scam more people. They encouraged me not to contact my bank to reverse the charge. My guess now is they said that so I run out of time to file the reverse and the company keeps my money.
I'm filing a chargeback tomorrow. Best to stay away from this company, at least in my experience anyway. Sad, I was eyeing this lunch box for 3 years and finally decided to get it.
