I have been assigned to different people and given no answers for what seemed like an eternity. I was very dishearten and losing hope in this program completely. But alas, a rainbow after the storm. So far the new account manager has been such a wonderful experience. I am in my 70's and she answers all my questions with patience and charisma. Thanks Melba and HPP cares. Happy New Years and thank you for the holiday wishes.

Really great team at HPP Cares. I'm sure they are bombarded with all the ADU Grants they help people with. This is such an amazing service to help homeowners with an already increasing construction cost to build ADU's. I'm towards the end of the grant program, with my file almost being closed and fulfilled.

After a complicated, lengthy, and confusing process, we received our grant funds and can now build for our future and the future of our disabled child.

It took a lot to get to this place and we are very appreciative of the personal involvement of Katherine, the executive director for HPP Cares. A few days before the holiday she did everything she could to make sure the process was closed out and we received our funds. We are very grateful for everything she did and hope others can realize the same sense of relief when their process is complete.

The Zoom Meetings was very thorough and precise.
The proctor was the best. she answered every question with precision I was totally impressed.

HPP Cares continues to struggle with communication, procedures, and follow through. Constant re-engagement is necessary to receive payment for simple invoice payments. They have significantly increased the difficulty of completing my ADU conversion project by delaying payments to contractors sometime by several weeks. Highly recommended working with another institution if you are considering the CA ADU Grant Program. They may have been the first to work of the process, but they certainly set a very low bar for their competition.

Amazing experience working thru HPP Cares to receive my grant fund. Katherine Peoples truly went out of her way to ensure the process went smoothly. Damien conducted an video interview of my ADU project and showed up with a huge smile. Thank you so much HPP Cares.

Update: Damien reached out to me last night and this morning and was very helpful in getting my issues resolved. I’m confident that I can continue to work with HPP Cares moving forward. I look forward to completing my ADU with their assistance with my grant.

I've been working with Emily Rodriguez on my CAL HSA Grant for an ADU. I completed a contract with HPP Cares for this grant and was informed it was approved. Some time later I received an email saying they were processing my cancellation request, which I never requested. I immediately followed up via email to inform them I did not make such a request and have made several calls over the last 10 days. I only received a response to my initial email indicating they would look into why I received the email. Since then I have emailed and called to get a status and have received zero response. Each time I call I try to see if I can speak to someone else or escalate and they will not do that.

HPP CARES offers a great opportunity for eligible applicants to apply for CAL HFA ADU grant funding.
Following submission of my grant application, I attended an informative program orientation by zoom hosted by Katherine Peoples. Then today I received a follow up call from Damian Hernandez at HPP CARES to confirm that I received my grant award letter. Damian answered my phone call only 4 days ago when I inquired about the status of my grant application. I appreciate his responsiveness and professional demeanor. I am grateful for HPP CARES.

Katherine is thorough in her presentation and answers every single question from the audience. She makes a complicated process simple.

I applied for the 40K ADU Grant as soon as the window opened. I have since been notified and served with a docusign agreement and notification of my assigned fund control escrow and funding officers. Today I attended the ADU Funds Release Instruction webinar. I am on my way and I say " they are wonderful." I truly love her.

Katherine and her staff have made themselves available to answer all of my questions. I appreciate the fact that they take the time to educate you every step of the way.

I appreciated how the representative was so gracious even when she asked at the beginning for people to wait until she covered certain points which would be helpful. Before she got very far in her presentation, she was stopped by questions. She couldn’t get very far very quickly I had to leave the meeting early ( after 50 min.) I still had lots of questions.. like where to find the handbook. I am registered for the Dec. 2 zoom meeting with great expectations

Katherine's webinars are very, very educational and informative. I believe they want whats best for us and to make the process as simple as possible.
