DO NOT RENT HERTZ IN ZURICH AIRPORT

The rental experience was good when it started at the Zurich airport, but went sour as soon as I returned the car. It was an early morning drop-off Ina key slot and sure right before I take off I get an email indicating there were damages and I'll be charged CHF1350 (USD $1700). The pictures they sent showed surface scratches and supposedly a dent. My pre rental video showed these scratches before I left the airport. Of course calling them, they didn't answer any calls. I emailed them several times to no response. Looking at others in this thread, seems like Hertz is scamming everyone using this modus operandi. Terrible! Don't rent from here, and if you do...Definitely do a real time return so they don't scam you. I'm fighting with my credit card company, as well as these clowns. If this is a regular operation is there no authority in Switzerland that can look into this?

euroairport bsl hertz

I purchased a full protection package through Trip.com. When I went to pick up my car from the Hertz office on the Swiss side of EuroAirport, I provided my reservation details and informed them that I already had full protection coverage.

Despite this, the Hertz office stated that they do not recognize the insurance provided by Trip.com and that it is not valid. They insisted that I needed to purchase another insurance package directly from them. They also told me that if I did not buy their insurance, they would charge at least €500 even for the smallest scratch. Furthermore, they said that if I purchased their insurance, they would not even check the car.

With my children and luggage there, I had no choice but to buy the insurance again from the Hertz office. They also stated that even if I return the car without any issues, the fee would not be refunded.

This situation is very disappointing and does not suit a brand like this.

Hertz Basel EuroAirport 5⭐️

Staff members in Basel Airport was friendly, professional and spoke excellent English. The clerk made the whole rental process easy and smooth. A Hertz staff member also kindly help me to set up the navigation system. Deposit of 1500chf was released at return
Car nice and clean, would definitely use Hertz again for our next trip in Basel. 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
