Very bad experience indeed!

In summary: repair job left incomplete, appliance damaged by their engineer, payment taken under pressure before work was finished, and three-plus weeks of silence after a formal written complaint.

Glotech were booked to repair a Whirlpool fridge freezer thermostat (3 September 2026, Belper). The engineer struggled for a long time with visible force and crunching noises while dismantling it, and made no progress. He admitted he was struggling, and it was suggested he stop, which he agreed to do. He then insisted on immediate payment of £109.14 despite the job not being completed, and became agitated when the customer declined to sign the job sheet confirming satisfaction. He left the unit hanging off, with the plug switched off but not removed from the socket.

When this was raised by phone, Glotech's complaints department said it was "our word against the engineer's" and that independent proof would be needed. A second, independent engineer was brought in and found the housing unit's lugs broken, confirmed in writing on their invoice — a replacement part had to be sourced and fitted (£34.89) before the original thermostat fault could even be addressed.

A full written complaint, invoice and photographic evidence was emailed to Glotech on 23 September 2026. They replied the same day assuring the customer the matter was being reviewed. Nothing further was heard, so a follow-up was sent on 9 October — 16 days later — still with no response. It is now 18 October, over three weeks since the original complaint, with still no reply or resolution from Glotech.

This has since been reported to Trading Standards, with a dispute also opened with the bank. Would not recommend based on this experience.

I was told that to repair my appliance would be almost as expensive to buy new. Zack was very helpful and clear in his information. It cost me a call out charge but he took the appliance to pieces and showed me the two items that needed replacing at about £1000 without labour. He recommended a Bosch replacement costing about £1400...He was very professional and pleasant to deal with. Highly recommend both Zack and Glotech.

Really happy with the service! William came out to inspect my washing machine and diagnose the fault. As the repair would cost quit a bit and the machine is already more than 5 years old, he honestly gave me his opinion on whether it was worth repairing rather than spending the money unnecessarily. Very honest, professional and helpful service. I really appreciate the honest advice and would definitely recommend for everyone around Alton town!
