It is OK besides 2 points.
1) They don't allow you to import a tick data file to test with, you have to pay for their data subscription to be able to test with tick data.

2)The mq4 to forextester indicator convertor is a disaster, it fails converting many indicators, so being a software engineer I thought building natively for their platform, turns out they have zero real documentations for their indicators/strategies/scripts API.
Tried to develop an indicator for forextester, took me time to figure out the structure of the code as the only documentation provides very little unhelpful info.
After I wrote it, tried to build it into a DLL, to no avail, could not figure out how to set up an environment to build a DLL that works with their platform, and there is ZERO DOCUMENTATION and their support is unhelpful in this manner.
And they don't even have an extensive number of indicators as they would like you to think.

Would have given 4 or 5 stars actually if not for their anti-consumer practice of only allowing tick data from them by a paid subscription and not allowing to import your own data.

Backtesting is like practicing in the gym, forex tester tool is like practicing with a machine with many easy-to-use features. I really like using hotkeys, it saves a lot of time to operate.

Forum is down, live Chat only works if you use incognito mode, not telephone support for such an expensive item. Trading is impossible on Forex tester 6, Either stop losses are too close to the price or you dont have enough margin. So effectively you cannot trade. Only way of contact is email, that takes a day or 2 to respond at the least

I am someone who strictly trades the forex market (mainly metals), so I purchased the tester with the basic data(23 years of 18 pairs) package. It's more than suits my needs. I found it not only met my expectations, but exceeded it!

I had a hiccup at the beginning loading historical data. One visit to the sites FAQ section, and my problem was solved.

The software itself, is very easy to use, plenty of information available to get the best utilization. I love that you can store and revisit saved projects, so you can test different strategies on different pairs.

It does what I need it to do which is backtest in a simulation but treat it like its a live market. What more can I ask for?

Because I trade and specialize only in CME E-mini futures, I've needed to download and obtain market data on my own since the Forex Tester subscription doesn't provide what I need. The good thing is that it allows the installation of external data, and I would say this is the best advantage of Forex Tester. I can be completely certain that my backtesting projects are based on market data that I trade every day, even though the installation process is cumbersome, it's really worth it.

The downside is, I see that it's falling behind in terms of statistical variables compared to other backtesting programs (Sharpe ratio, MAE and MFE, Monte Carlo simulation, etc.). It's something that I find strange that it's still not available, so it doesn't yet meet all the needs of quantitative bactesting trading. For someone who's a whiz with Excel, this ain't a problem. You can export all the data to an Excel sheet and do your analysis there, but it'd be cool to see some built-in stats in Forex Tester in a future update.

An amazing product! 21 years of data, as an investment banker I find this tool to be MANDITORY to anyone that wants to venture a career in trading. One of my favorite features is saving different projects with different strategies. Money well spent!

Absolutely Amazing Product! Been working in the markets for the past 8 years and I’ve never quite found a platform quite as good as this one. What really helps me is having the tick data, you can literally go back in time and see how price played live to the exact tick which is so amazing. Definitely recommend and would 100% buy again if I had to, definitely worth the price!

Forex tester is a fantastic tool that allows me to backtest my trading strategies in mere hours, when it would typically take months or even years to get the same amount of data. It delivers exactly what it promises.

When I was looking for a good backtesting software after analysing many in the market, I settled with Forex Tester 6 for the following reasons
1. It had the quality historical data
2. Its platform is robust. If one is comfortable with the Meta Trader platform, without much difficulty, one can gel into Forex Tester software. But yes, its user interface is not super-rich. For backtesting, I am not looking for a super-rich user interface, but a robust, one with good analytics and reasonably easy-to-use software. Forex Tester fits the bill there.
3 The cost of ownership though looks a bit higher for a lifetime package, considering it a one-time cost, one can see the cost benefit in the second year itself. Considering we might want to have backtesting software handy for at least a few years, this in my view is a good cost-effective backtesting solution.

Forex Tester may be a bit confusing at first but once you get used to setting up projects and understanding the software and it's features it's the best tool for upping your trading skills. Being able to start a project, pause it and then resume it where you left off whenever you're ready to is very convenient. I bought the Lifetime tic package which was more than worth it in comparison to the profits that Forex Tester has helped me pull from the markets. Forex Tester has made back testing more of a pleasure than a chore.

Have been currently using Forex Tester for a month now and have to say is the most valuable thing I have bought to aid me with my trading. Before FT6 I was using the Replay feature on Trading View, but since purchasing I have seen a significant difference in my trading.
From being able to choose specific Time and Dates to Backtest to actually having a Simulated trading service, the platform is amazing.
My favourite feature is that I am able to save my BackTesting data and resume whenever I feel like it.
When first trying out the software, it can be a bit confusing with all the features, but once you have mastered the software, its a real game changer and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to master a particular trading strategy.

I love this software!
I bought it when they had a summer sale running with the super data for life subscription! One of the best purchases I have made in my trading career. Backtesting is such a important part of becoming successful at trading, however websites like TradingView only give you limited bar replay, with ForexTester 5 I have over 20 years of back data to test and practice with. Highly recommend this for anyone serious about trading, regardless of how experienced you are.
