Evaluating 68 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers found the pricing to be excessively high, often significantly more than competitors, and noted that premiums frequently increased without clear justification. People also expressed strong dissatisfaction with the claims process, reporting that claims were often denied for reasons like "wear and tear" or that the company refused to cover damages they believed should have been included. Reviewers frequently encountered unhelpful and disrespectful staff, including adjusters and customer service representatives, who often ignored their concerns or provided incorrect information. The overall service experience was consistently described as poor, with many feeling that the company did not support them as clients and that customer service was difficult to reach or unresponsive. In 1928, two men shared a dream of providing a quality insurance product at a reasonable price. In the decades that followed we’ve grown and adapted to meet the changing needs of Americans. But one constant has remained: We have an unwavering commitment to uphold our founding ideals to provide industry-leading products and first-rate services to the customers we’re privileged to serve. Different Eras, Same Exceptional Service Farmers not only prides itself on helping you plan wisely for the unexpected, but also on helping restore order when it occurs, so you can keep moving along the road of your life’s plans. In 1959 a Farmers customer wrote us a letter of surprised gratitude when his car battery was replaced just an hour after it was stolen. A letter from a couple in 2002 wrote that their Farmers agent and Claims Adjuster “were exceptional in their handling of our grief, what we needed to do, and helpful in many other ways.” That same year, when Hurricane Rita struck Beaumont, Texas, Farmers sent 300 agents to assess damages while policy holders were evacuated. Farmers also donated $100,000 for the city’s emergency operations center and two megawatt generators that restored power to Beaumont. Whatever year or decade a disaster occurs, you can count on us to be there for you. Today, the companies comprising the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies make up one of the country's largest insurers of vehicles, homes and small businesses and provide a wide range of other insurance and financial services products. Farmers is proud to serve more than 10 million households with more than 19 million individual policies across all 50 states through the efforts of over 48,000 exclusive and independent agents and nearly 21,000 employees. The Farmers Exchanges are three reciprocal insurers (Farmers Insurance Exchange, Fire Insurance Exchange and Truck Insurance Exchange) owned by their policyholders, and together with their subsidiaries and affiliates comprise the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Farmers Group, Inc. and its subsidiaries, in their capacity as attorneys-in-fact, provide administrative and management services to the Farmers Exchanges. Our Story Our story began with the simple goal of insuring the vehicles of rural farmers but as the world changed, so did we. Visit our timeline for a tour through the decades of Farmers.

Buyer Beware this company is a scam…

Buyer Beware this company is a scam ,we had a wind storm this past September shingles were blown off our roof causing water damage inside our home we tried to make a claim and we're denied the adjuster said the damage was due to ( normal wear and tear ) which is the only thing NOT covered in my 89 page policy I had to have the roof inspected by a roofing company that found the roof was in good shape and we should've had no problems with the roof for at least 10 to 15 years if it weren't for the wind damage, we sent those findings to farmers / foremost and they continue to deny the claim and I was forced to hire an attorney and there still has been no resolution to this matter save your money and use a different company ! unless you want these headaches

I was a 35 year customer of MetLife, Farmers is a scam.

I was a 35 year customer of MetLife. When Farmers bought MetLife, the customer service went to hell. I attributed it to integration pains. Then over the course of three years my insurance cost went up 3X. Then i had a minor claim where my truck mirror was struck and broke, $675 claim. The next policy they doubled my auto insurance... for five cars, four drivers $9000 for six months. I got rid of the five vehicle and they raised my six month rate to $11K. WTF? I asked them for a rate review and I was told more cars cost less. If i raised my deductible from $200 to $1000 they would save me $300 per six months. These people clearly did not want me as a customer, There were no claims accept the one small mirror, no home owners claims, always paid on time. Farmers sucks, ruined MetLife thru aquisition. Go to any other insurance company. Run if you are a customer. I'm now paying $2800 for six months same coverage - Farmers is a rip off scamming icehole company.

Terrible

Well, I just recently switched to Farmers. I have only made one payment. I do have the signal app which is basically their drive safe app I received a notification that they are canceling my discount because I have not driven 10 trips mind you I drive my vehicle every single day and I’ve already made one payment which says that I’ve been with them for at least a month. It showed that I had driven 179 trips. I have tried to call multiple times I have spoken to the insurance agent which reached out to them and I was told I would get a call within five business days. I still have not received a call. It has been past five business days. Nobody has reached out to me regarding the app malfunction and saying I’m going to lose my discount. I do not recommend this insurance to anybody. It is unorganized their apps suck. It is not worth a headache.

I had Farmers Flood Insurance and in Lithia Florida.

I had Farmers Flood Insurance and in 2024 in Florida my house literally flooded from a major storm which my policy said I was covered for and after adjuster visited and saw the damage and photos showing water damage they denied my claim because “2 acres or more were not flooded”. Wtf. No where in my policy did it say anything about 2 acres. This is criminal. 2 other Companies named Fire Insurance Exchange and Pilots Claim Service were also part of this organized criminal insurance network. They throw 10 different agent names and 3 different companies at your claim and they all deny knowing anything about the other companies or about your claim when you call. This country needs to take a stand against these organized criminal insurance companies. Our politicians need to take action and create policies that prevent this organized crime against us. If we actually had enough attorneys and politicians with actual working consciences this country wouldn’t be the disgusting wealth disparaged travesty it has become. It has come to the point that we have to defend ourselves from the people and companies we hire to protect us (insurance and attorneys). Sad but if you have the means to dispute these thugs do it. Don’i be like me and roll over and take it.

Claim in an E-bike

I had a claim with Farmers and everything was fine until we filed for stolen items. My e-bike was stolen, and nowhere in my policy does it say that e-bikes aren’t covered. Farmers is now claiming an e-bike is a “motorized vehicle,” yet somehow they do cover a golf cart. Make that make sense.

If you have an e-bike, don’t expect Farmers Insurance to cover it. The lack of clarity in the policy and the inconsistent explanations have been incredibly frustrating. I would seriously reconsider relying on them for protection.

🚨 WARNING

🚨 WARNING: FARMERS INSURANCE & CRASH CHAMPIONS (Lake Conroe) – NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE! 🚨

Let me tell you how bad Farmers Insurance treats their customers.

My car was backed into in a parking lot. The person took off — but thankfully, there was a witness who left her number, so there was clear proof of what happened.

I took my car to the shop Farmers pushed me to use — Crash Champions out by Lake Conroe. I ended up having to take my car there four or five different times just for them to take pictures and fight with the insurance to even start repairs.

When the car was finally “finished,” the work was absolutely horrible. My car may be older, but it’s clean and well cared for — all one color before this mess. When I picked it up, it had three different shades of paint, overspray, and sloppy work everywhere. It looked terrible.

I called Farmers, sent pictures, and told them exactly what was going on. At first, someone acted like they would help — they said the work would be redone correctly and that the shop would be investigated. But then I got handed off to someone else, and everything changed.

Now Farmers has decided to total my car, claiming it’s not worth fixing — even though similar cars with the same miles are selling for $8,000 to $20,000. Their offer? $4,000. I sent them listings proving the market value, but they don’t care.

They literally told me “We’re only offering off the first offer, and if you don’t like it — oh well.”

So here’s my advice:
❌ Do NOT use Farmers Insurance.
❌ Do NOT take your car to Crash Champions out by Lake Conroe.

Both were an absolute nightmare — poor communication, poor quality, and zero accountability. I’ve never been treated so badly by an insurance company or a body shop in my life.

Reporting erroneous info

Due to them reporting either erroneous or misleading info to lexisnexis I'm not able to get quotes from other companies. Per lexis, it will take at least a month to get things cleared up. This means I'm stuck with the company I have now, who has jacked our rates up a lot, until then.

Really negative experience with Farmers Insurance.

My father used Farmers Insurance for his vehicles for decades, so I used Farmers for quite a while. At one point, when I was unemployed, I couldn't make payments on the policy, so they cancelled it. I tried to reinstate the policy when I got a job, but the quote was more than double what I had been paying. I was livid at that. I got a policy at GEICO for less than what I had been paying Farmers. I had been under the impression that my "agent" would actually help, but he was of absolutely no use.

No support for clients

A friend had Farmers home insurance and needed repairs due to damages. Neftali Rodriguez was the adjuster and referred a contractor who wrote questionable invoices, and Neftali was in agreement with it. When they tried to talk to Neftali’s boss, she was also on Neftali’s side. Be careful with Farmers Ins., the insurance adjuster named Neftali and wrongful claims on invoices. They all work together and do not support you as the client.

Improper Claim Handling and Negligent Investigation

I was involved in an accident where the police report incorrectly cited me and omitted the name of a key witness. I promptly informed my insurance company, provided all relevant details, and even submitted a recorded conversation with the witness as supporting evidence.

Despite my cooperation and the availability of clear proof, the company declined to consider the evidence and informed me that the case had to be closed within one month. As a result, the other party was compensated while my insurance premium increased significantly.

I am deeply disappointed by the lack of diligence and fairness shown in handling my claim. This experience reflects poor investigative practice and disregard for customer-provided evidence.

Review of Flood Insurance Cancellation…

Review of Flood Insurance Cancellation Experience

I’m a small business owner—not a millionaire—and every dollar counts. On July 23, 2025, I paid $887 for flood insurance that was supposed to refund $590 after cancellation. I requested a cancellation a month ago, expecting a fair refund. Instead, I received a check for only $509.

That’s a $378 loss for absolutely nothing. No coverage used, no explanation provided, and no accountability. The SBA requires flood insurance documentation for my business, and this situation has added unnecessary stress and financial strain.

I’m disappointed by the lack of transparency and fairness in this process. Small businesses deserve better—especially when we’re trying to stay compliant and afloat.

Don’t insure with farmers insurance

Title: Farmers Insurance – Bad Faith in Clear Liability Claim

On March 17, 2025, I was the victim of a hit-and-run accident in Las Vegas caused by a driver working for Uber. Farmers Insurance, who covers the at-fault driver, has already accepted 100% liability.

Despite this, Farmers has:
• Only offered $18,085, which barely covers hospital charges and would leave me with nothing for lost wages, pain and suffering, anxiety, or ongoing medical problems.
• Insisted they must pay the hospital directly due to a supposed lien, yet have never provided proof of any properly recorded lien under Nevada law.
• Ignored my repeated requests for documentation and refused to issue funds directly to me, even though I am the injured party.

This process has gone on for months. I have not been able to work, I continue to suffer physically and emotionally, and Farmers has made no meaningful effort to resolve this matter in good faith.

In my opinion, this is bad faith claims handling. I have filed formal complaints with the Nevada Division of Insurance and the Nevada Attorney General Consumer Protection Bureau, and I will continue to pursue accountability.

Consumers should know what they may face if they have to deal with Farmers on a clear liability claim. Enrique Hernandez

stay away

Every time I renewed my car insurance with Farmers, the premium went up for no reason. I’ve never had an accident, drive less than 10k miles a year, and now they’re charging me over $1,700 for 6 months! I switched to Costco and got the exact same coverage for $936. What a shit rip off company
