In 1928, two men shared a dream of providing a quality insurance product at a reasonable price. In the decades that followed we’ve grown and adapted to meet the changing needs of Americans. But one constant has remained: We have an unwavering commitment to uphold our founding ideals to provide industry-leading products and first-rate services to the customers we’re privileged to serve. Different Eras, Same Exceptional Service Farmers not only prides itself on helping you plan wisely for the unexpected, but also on helping restore order when it occurs, so you can keep moving along the road of your life’s plans. In 1959 a Farmers customer wrote us a letter of surprised gratitude when his car battery was replaced just an hour after it was stolen. A letter from a couple in 2002 wrote that their Farmers agent and Claims Adjuster “were exceptional in their handling of our grief, what we needed to do, and helpful in many other ways.” That same year, when Hurricane Rita struck Beaumont, Texas, Farmers sent 300 agents to assess damages while policy holders were evacuated. Farmers also donated $100,000 for the city’s emergency operations center and two megawatt generators that restored power to Beaumont. Whatever year or decade a disaster occurs, you can count on us to be there for you. Today, the companies comprising the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies make up one of the country's largest insurers of vehicles, homes and small businesses and provide a wide range of other insurance and financial services products. Farmers is proud to serve more than 10 million households with more than 19 million individual policies across all 50 states through the efforts of over 48,000 exclusive and independent agents and nearly 21,000 employees. The Farmers Exchanges are three reciprocal insurers (Farmers Insurance Exchange, Fire Insurance Exchange and Truck Insurance Exchange) owned by their policyholders, and together with their subsidiaries and affiliates comprise the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Farmers Group, Inc. and its subsidiaries, in their capacity as attorneys-in-fact, provide administrative and management services to the Farmers Exchanges. Our Story Our story began with the simple goal of insuring the vehicles of rural farmers but as the world changed, so did we. Visit our timeline for a tour through the decades of Farmers.

FRAUD
I would do zero if it was on here. Farmers is a fraud. Pay my daughters insurance on 8/7/2025. They cancels her insurance 12:00 am on the 8th. An kept my money.
Should be charged with elder abuse
After over 20 years with this company,My mom was totally being ripped off by Farmers insurance. An elderly lady on unlimited income, was being taken advantage of by this terrible company.
We made one phone call to another competitor and cut her auto insurance in half.
David Habeeb was dishonest. Kailyn at corporate was rude and obnoxious. Be better FARMERS INSURANCE!
Not full-fledged people
Lewisville Farmers agent "Sam Awesome" was complicit in a vicious crime committed against me by his psychopathic relative. His sister was also in the porn industry. I reported this crime to the district manager and only received the silent treatment in response so to make it clear these nasty critters don't care about people and their activity isn't about helping the community. Rather, it's about taking people's money and enriching themselves at your expense. This Farmers franchise was guilty of destroying my family's property, not paying for it.
Worst Service Ever - the hotline is a joke
I contacted the call center after receiving a quote online. The gentleman I spoke to was rude, made me feel inferior and gave me completely wrong informaiton. Basically told me he couldn't insure my house. I then spoke to another local agent at Farmers who was very helpful and provided me with necessary direction but the call line is the face of your company - don't put complete idiots on the line. The person I spoke to really could not care less about finding a solution and/or about selling insurance. They were more interested in judging me, my accent and my decisions in regards to buying property. Truly despicable. I went to another company instead- so a customer lost thanks to this moron.
Petty Service From Agent
I attempted to call my insurance agent at Farmers to get my claims history letter. It became apparent that they started ignoring my calls and emails after I mentioned that I wanted to cancel my insurance, even though I was still covered at the time. The behavior was quite petty. If you're looking for professional and satisfactory customer service, they would definitely not be my first choice.
THE WORST COMPANY!
THE WORST COMPANY!! Used them for 3 years and had a bounced payment last month. They never contacted me and closed out my auto insurance within 2 weeks. Straight up criminal organization. DO NOT USE THEM!!!
When I canceled my policy
When I canceled my policy, they still withdrew my premium. Called numerous times. Had customer service say they would call back but never did.
I have had bad experiences with…
I have had bad experiences with homeowner’s insurance as well as auto. I had a lender placed insurance because the insurance company did not send over the proper papers. $1000 wasted to correct. The straw that broke the camel’s back was when my class coverage was removed from $100 to $1000 without my consent. Everything is a recorded line, so investigations should have happened to see that I never asked for that or approved. I canceled Farmea and I am saving a lot of money. I wish I would have read reviews before I was allowed to be exploited.
Pay them to do jack when you need them
I would not recommend going with Farmers Insurance. I had a situation happen in my condo back in March where my toilet leaked and ended up damaging the two units below me. Plumber came out and fixed the leak and had the paperwork coded in the way where it was one of those things happen situations and it wasn't a thing of improper maintenance and they denied the claim for the repairs in my unit, and then they proceeded to deny the claim for the repairs that happened in the two units below me because they claimed that the bylaws for my Homeowner Association were written in a way that waived all responsibilities even if the fault occurred from my unit which sounds like total BS. I've probably given Farmers Insurance 18,000 since I moved into my condo 5 years ago and with this situation occurring I got screwed out of a $7,000 claim. I'm shopping around for new insurance because if I'm going to pay a homeowner insurance company to do nothing for me when I need them I might as well do it with another place going forward because all the major maintenance has been done in my condominium now. They are a terrible company with terrible ethics and a 50% denial rating. Spend your money elsewhere in look into the reviews of insurance companies because Farmers is a joke when you actually need them. I wouldn't wish their services upon my worst enemy
Worst Insurance Company Ever.Do not…
Worst Insurance Company Ever.Do not insure with them. They are very dishonest about their billings.
They add things to your policy without…
They add things to your policy without asking. They tell you one price and bill you another. This company is absolutely terrible and the customer service is herendous.
Most dishonest insurance company ever
Most dishonest insurance company ever! Drop them if you have them. When you need them they won’t be there for you.
Absolutely an awful insurance company
Absolutely an awful insurance company. I've had claims in the past from car accidents to hurricanes and the insurance company always did their part but not Farmers Insurance, they don't even show up and only give a run around.I would not want anyone to go through what I had to deal with which is still an ongoing nightmare. AVOID FARMERS INSURANCE AT ANY COST
Ongoing Administrative Errors and Zero Accountability
I’m writing this review after spending over two months trying to correct an issue Farmers admitted was their fault and still being told I must pay for a policy period that was wrongfully canceled due to their internal administrative error.
Despite never missing a payment and having a clean driving record, my policy was canceled behind the scenes, and I wasn’t made aware until other insurers flagged it as a lapse. In fact, my LexisNexis report shows zero lapse in coverage but Farmers refuses to fix the broader record unless I pay for coverage I never had. It’s a clear case of "we messed up, now you pay to fix it."
What’s worse is I’ve since learned multiple others have had this same issue with Farmers all pressured to pay retroactive premiums just to clean up Farmers' reporting mistakes.
I’ve wasted hours on formal complaints, phone calls, and documentation just trying to clear my name so I can get a fair rate from a different provider. I’ve asked, respectfully and repeatedly, for a resolution that reflects the facts and allows me to move on. So far? No accountability.
If you value your time, your money, or your peace of mind... look elsewhere.
Loyal Client Shown the Door!
Between my time with MetLife and, more recently, Farmers (after the acquisition of MetLife’s business 4-5 yrs ago), I’ve had over 30 years of continuous coverage. In all that time, I never filed a claim (other than a few windshields/side window) or was at fault in an accident—neither myself, my wife, nor, more recently, my kids. I was a low-risk, long-term customer—reliable and loyal.
Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to count for much. Here’s what I experienced when my AUTO insurance was canceled. I found out not from Farmers but from the Massachusetts RMV. Incredibly, they NEVER communicated with me. Here's a summary:
- Policy becomes on track for cancelation after a single attempt to charge my card, followed by a vague email about updating autopay settings.
- No meaningful effort to reach me when the payment failed—just a claim that multiple USPS letters were sent, including a required 20-day cancellation notice. I NEVER GOT A SINGLE LETTER, NOT ONE!
- No phone call, no clear emails—just silence, despite the severity of canceling a policy.
- None of these alleged USPS mailed notices appeared in my online account inbox, where policy documents and important correspondence are typically stored. If cancellation notices aren’t posted there, that’s a serious system flaw. I guess they only mail them...really???
- Shockingly, my account was marked “Do Not Call”—not by me. So again, no outreach, just quiet cancellation.
All of this feels like a quiet effort to wind down legacy MetLife accounts and show me a much, much more expensive policy (50% HIGHER)….or the DOOR (I chose the latter).
I was a model policyholder for decades and expected far better treatment. Very disappointing.
Fight for clients and be an advocate for change is a good/great business culture but not when there’s a quietly understood mantra of don’t rock the boat or you could be “shown the exit”. Feels like Farmers has that attitude. Nobody and I mean nobody wanted to help me; a new biz rep was the closest to understanding the situation but that’s not her responsiblity so she couldn't do much.
My advice when considering Farmers...DON'T, RUN AWAY!!!!
This company is impossible to deal…
This company is impossible to deal with. Do not deal with this company if you want customer service in English. Several calls have been painful due to incompetence and lack of English.
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service, rates are out of control for no reason and overall I don't recommend ANYONE ever going with this company. I've had nothing but billing problems, the agents can barely speak proper english or understand what you say, and they hang up on you when you are questioning and asking about the policies. Stay clear from this nightmare of a company!!!!
it would be negative if possible
it would be negative if possible. i pay thousands in premiums through my company, and they are telling me i have to pay 55000, not a typo, before i get anything on my roof claim. These people are criminals. urge everyone to contact your legislature and the department of insurance.
CORPORATE CRIMINALZ!!!
They allow their insured to commit adultery felony, ignore it, refuze to pay your damagez and injuriez, then try to cover it all up by having several attorneyz to make up a story about your claim, being time-barred...
Absolutely horrible customer service
Absolutely horrible customer service. As a contractor I deal with 10 to 15 claims a week. This entire company from the agents to the adjuster are beyond unprofessional and rude.
Anyone shopping around for insurance please use someone else. They will deny your claims, give you the run around, low ball your claim amount. I highly recommend anyone other then this company.
