How this company uses Trustpilot
See how their reviews and ratings are sourced, scored, and moderated.
I strongly advise against using Escrow.com. They will hold your money for weeks under the status “Reviewing Your Payment,” with little transparency or urgency. During this time, funds are inaccessible, and the review process seems to drag on indefinitely.
The identity verification process is excessive and invasive. Over the course of weeks, they repeatedly requested additional documentation—first one item, then another, and then another. This included highly sensitive personal information such as a Social Security number, a copy of a driver’s license, and bank statements. At some point, you have to seriously question how much personal data you are willing to hand over and how secure it truly is.
In our case, the transaction stalled entirely due to payment delays and ongoing verification demands. What should have been a straightforward escrow process became unnecessarily stressful. Ultimately, we chose to cancel the transaction and complete payment via direct wire instead—which was resolved the same day.
If someone suggests using Escrow.com for a transaction, think very carefully before proceeding. The delays, lack of responsiveness, and level of personal information required make this service more trouble than it’s worth.

[Communication : 5 stars]
I liked that Escrow, com offered the "Chat" that I could talk right away. Quick Response, the assistant used clear English, while I had really bad experience in other website like Sebuda or accs-Market-> they communicate terrible that they don't even try to answer what you asked, they just talk what they want to say.
[Process is clear - 5 star]
I liked that the process was clear and well indicated in website
[minor system issue]
there was a system issue that even though I paid, the escrow system did not recognized it. the status still said, "make the payment" even though i paid. so it took some while for escrow team to investigate about this issue, but after they reviewed, the error was cleared.
[NOTE for user]
And one thing to know before escrow.com , Escrow team does not do "Account Handing over process". the seller and buyer has to do it their own.
I think escrow.com only manage the "payment process" to keep the money until both side complete the handing over process.

Support was great. Stayed informed. Through several weeks of the transaction. Thank you

Incompetent customer support stuff. They first accept buyers money and then make it impossible for the seller to get his money. Avoid!

Escrow. Flippa needs to improve transparency and customer support to prevent these kinds of issues.

Carla made the entire process seamless and un-scary! What a wonderful way to manage any transaction - most highly recommended!

Just run from this platform! I really don't leave reviews that often, but this platform is a joke. It's probably not a scam, but all of the processes takes soo much. I started a transaction 2 weeks ago, I thought it went well, I wired the money in, got there, they took time to review it and then it started.
The transaction is always in the "Reviewing Received Payment" step.
And no matter what you do, it is always on: "Requires your Action" step as well.
You don't know what's going on, you don't receive emails of updates, only if you ask the support.
They take 4-5 business days to review a 4 page document regarding a Purchase Agreement. Man, wtf, just put it in ChatGPT/ Claude.
Then, if the document is not right, or if they want you to change something in it, it doesn't send any notification at you, and only if you ask them: "Why does it take so long?" they will tell you that something is not right.
So, the status in the UI (on the website) will never change, it's soo confusing.
And after another 3 business days of waiting, I had to ask them again on the progress, ofc, and they asked me if I come from Flippa, because I should actually do the process for escrow there. Just, WTF?
It took you 14 days to ask me that? Anyway, I am not a hater, I just hate their process.
I requested a refund, and I am prompted with: "Please allow 1 business day to contact the seller and the relevant team to decide on the cancellation matter”.
I just hope this ends soon. Just find yourself another platform, this one until they fix their process and website, it's trash.

Escrow.com publicly claims that eligibility is determined by residency and sanctions, not nationality.
My experience directly contradicts that statement.
I have not lived in Russia for a long time. I declared a residential address in a non-sanctioned jurisdiction and was prepared to provide full proof of residency, yet no such request was ever made.
My company is registered and based in the United States, operates with US banking infrastructure, and was successfully verified by Escrow.com without any issues.
At the personal document verification stage, Escrow.com offers three options: passport, driver’s license, or national ID. I do not drive and therefore do not have a driver’s license. I do hold a residence-permit-based ID, but it is not a national ID card in the literal sense.
The only universally accepted government document available under Escrow.com’s stated options was an international passport issued in Russia some time ago, despite the fact that I have not lived there for a long time. I submitted it in good faith, relying on Escrow.com’s own terms, which explicitly state that nationality itself is not a restriction as long as the user does not reside in a sanctioned country.
Immediately after submitting this passport, my account access was restricted. No compliance questions were asked. No clarification was requested. No explanation was provided beyond a vague and misleading “technical issue”.
This account had no prior transaction history, no completed or attempted payments, and no activity that could raise any compliance or risk concerns. This was my first initiated transaction on the platform, and this is my only Escrow.com account.
The sequence of events is impossible to ignore: a verified US company, residency in a non-sanctioned jurisdiction, no transaction history, no compliance concerns, followed by immediate restriction only after my nationality became visible through the passport.
This is not risk management. It is selective exclusion based on nationality, concealed behind “commercial discretion”, and it directly contradicts Escrow.com’s publicly stated policies.
It is a clear, documented refusal of service on a national basis, after all eligibility requirements were met.
Any business relying on Escrow.com should understand that compliance with their rules offers no protection if nationality alone is enough to cause exclusion.
I have since reviewed feedback confirming similar experiences, and it appears I am far from being the only one to encounter this, including on Trustpilot.

Very slow, inaccurate communication, dragging their feet all the way through. Terrible experience.

Easy to work with. They are the premier Escrow company online. Will use again. Thanks Carla!
Escrow.com has all the makings of a good service, but for some reason they don't seem to care about the people they're supposed to serve.

EDIT!
The problem with escrow.com was not their fault but it appeared to be their bank. When my payment was originated escrow did the refund very fast. Still though the money was lost for almost 3 months.
But the money is back into my bankaccount now.
Happy after all.
I changed my review from 1 star to 3 stars
Be careful! They hold your money!
I paid them 10 days ago. Multiple times I contacted support. Sent them a bank confirmation. They tell me again to allow 1 business day to verify the payment/bank confirmation. But again nothing changed to the status of the transaction.
I wish I had first checked here at Truspilot. Grok told me they are a legitimate company.
Edit 18/12/25 : Because the transaction/payment is still not verified I had to cancel the transaction. I'm a buyer of a domain and I do not want the seller to walk away from this transaction.
Support is very friendly but eventually they could not solve the problem. Now I hope I will receive the refund. Fingers crossed...
Edit 29-12: Money still gone. No updates. No contact anymore. My bank in The Netherlands investigates but this can take weeks. We are talking about 4000 Euros. What a mess!
Edit 14-01-2026
Almost 6 weeks further an I did not receive my money back.
Have send them a MT-103 swift confirmation of my payment to them. They do not respond to my mail anymore.
Next step is the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
To be continued...
Edit 14-01
Today I got a reply where they still say they and/or their bank did not receive the money.
This is weird! I'll be waiting for my bank's investigation before I proceed further.
To be continued

Submitted funds and they held them for a week before notifying me they needed more information. This is all for a transaction under $1000 for an intangible asset. I have never had such a hassle completing a transaction. I don't even know if the transaction will go through at this point.

Used Escrow for a DomainAgents purchase.
After I made a payment via Paypal for the domain, I got the surprise that their system still says it's awaiting payment from me.. eventually had to refer to their FAQs.
Be aware in their FAQ notes that (as in my case) Paypal payments buyers make are NOT credited instantaneously. Someone there has to do something manual which takes a business day. The same is true for credit card purchases according to their FAQ - 1 business day.
In 2025 when we all know Paypal and credit card purchases are confirmed instantly, this is not acceptable.
Also very sketchy is that even for making a nominal payment now they require your drivers license or credit card. Whether or not that is really necessary I'm sure someone has some law in some sketchy jurisdiction. Either way, the unexpected delay crediting payment that after forever in their portal still says "Awaiting payment arrival" making it seem I'm the person dragging my feet is a big problem and something that will make me not to choose anything with escrow.com in the future.
