EPHG offer an emergency electrician, plumber, heating engineer that is gas safe. Our business model is to firstly give our clients the best experience in there time of need and to raise the quality of service being given by trying to make contractors do a better job. EPHG currently have over 60,000 clients, 8 staff taking the calls and hundreds of contractors being a national company covering an estimated area of 98%. Even though our terms and rates are available online, we verbally explain the rates, take a deposit, ask our clients to reply to a text or an email in writing to confirm the agreement including rates over the phone before we start the work. If we don't get a written agreement, our clients can ask for the payment to be voided the same day or a refund any other day. Our aim is to raise the quality of service in many individuals with highly trained staff by trying to make sure you don't full prey to potential crooks or unprofessional trades.

Excellent job

Excellent, cannot state enough how professional and reassuring Ged, the gas heating engineer was. Came to do the job properly after the run around by another worker. Prompt, clean, honest: fixed the boiler, checked everything else thoroughly, showed me what to look for and explained. Interesting that he saved me buying a new boiler, saying it was fine as the previous worker was telling me to ( buy from him).Also, looked into a radiator. Less stress and hassle with this company. The owner was also courteous and communicated well. Brilliant to see people taking pride in their work. Thank you

I can see that we've been giving Ged plumbing emergencies, boiler breakdown work since 2017 and could be longer as I cant see records beyond that. I'm happy that the engineer met your expectations and possibly more saving you further costs to a boiler you didn't need. Thank you.

Disgusting

This company charged me over £100 for putting me in touch with an electrician when I thought they were the electrician.
I pointed out that I would not have paid over £300 for an electrician just to look at the job. I would have contacted the electrician myself not used a go between for that money.

Dear Brenda, either you review the wrong company or you was fully aware of how we operate. All our clients are aware of the cost before we give the service in writing and for you to respond to the text confirming the cost by reply. We believe our business is outstanding in transparency. If you would like to make an official complaint, our email address is martin@ephg.limited. I'm not sure where you got the cost of over £300 from and maybe you had further work done past the hour and charges are not based on just looking. If I'm reading between the lines, we do state in the text message we estimate 90% of call-outs for electrical emergencies being complete on first visit, so my only assumption was that it wasn't an average emergency and further work was required for one reason or another. Conclusion: Client fully accepts costs, engineer arrives then decides they no longer like the cost. On behalf of the company, I'm sorry you feel this way and we don't feel the review is fair on behalf of our clients mistake.

A very expensive middle man!

I called EPHG in an emergency to have a trapped bird removed from my chimney. My gas fire had to be removed to let the bird out.

A contractor, K J Trading, came out and did a fine job. They removed the gas fire, let the bird out safely and then replaced the gas fire. K J Trading told me that they had never actually heard of EPHG, so it dawned upon me that I had paid EPHG £180 just to be introduced to K J Trading.

I don't mind paying an introduction fee, but £180? Seems very excessive to me. It was roughly equivalent to what I paid the contractor to actually do the job.

In regards to the engineer not knowing who we are, that is very unlikely which we can provide evidence of text messages if you send us an email to martin@ephg.limited

All our clients are fully made aware of the rates prior to the booking and to seal the booking, our clients are asked to reply to a text message to confirm they are in receipt of the callout fee paid and are fully aware on what further costs to be paid and then we send a text message with the engineers name and phone number afterwards.

If our clients arn't happy with the cost prior to the job, they can easily ask for the payment to be stopped instead of confirming or confirming and asking for the job to not go ahead at the same time.

If, and I say 'IF', an engineer says they don't know us, then that isn't fair on our company as we try to provide the best service we can. The main thing is, you seem to be happy with the engineers work and just put it down to a misunderstanding.

Reliable from the outset

From the first phone call... everything was explained to me from pricing, timescales, to contact details for the engineer. My boiler was leaking - water everywhere. When the engineer came he discovered what the problem was immediately and stopped the water leak. This company deserves full credit for all aspects of their communication and engineering skills.

Five star service

Martin was very helpful and he and Ben got an emergency plumber out to me in less than 40 minutes after I'd been badly let down by another company. Javid the plumber was great, very friendly and efficient. Well worth the call out fee, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend EPHG to anyone.

Charged 300£ for 10 min work.

Charged 300£ total, for 10min of work. Contractor come investigate the leak, he suggested that need re silicone inside shower. He done and total cost 300£ for 10 min work. Fantastic!
When contractor left we investigate again and found more leaks under the sink so this company only take money and nothing else.

I understand that there may have been some confusion around the term "deposit." During our conversation, it appeared there was a misunderstanding about its meaning. In the context of our service agreement, a deposit is a non-refundable fee that secures the booking and covers the initial costs associated with dispatching the engineer. We make every effort to ensure this is communicated clearly to all our clients.

Additionally, we always provide written confirmation of costs via text message before proceeding with any service. In this case, we sent a message detailing the call-out fee and the minimum one-hour charge, which you confirmed in writing. Initially, this was denied; however, upon reviewing the evidence, it was acknowledged that you did indeed confirm the terms.

Regarding the issue of additional leaks, I was not informed of any further concerns until reading your review. If there are unresolved issues or misunderstandings, I would be happy to address them. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at martin@ephg.limited so we can resolve this matter to your satisfaction.

I’ve received a 1-star review, assuming this review is from you, however, in the review, I’ve learnt something new and that is that you still have water leaks and reading into the review, I’m not sure if this is the fault of the engineer we sent out to you or not, as it isn’t clear enough. What I can say is that we’re of the opinion that we run an outstanding complaints department.

The aim of this first email to you this morning is for two things, one being the review, and the other is to ask if you need a return visit from the contractor that attended. So can I ask you to outline the issue and why you believe the contractor should return in accordance to the agreement.

Fixing a Leak

Thank you to EPHG and to the plumber Trevor who was called out. He arrived early, diagnosed and fixed the problem in a very professional manner. Excellent service which I would thoroughly recommend.

Called half a dozen electricians so this was a lifesaver. You obviously pay more but the engineer arrived within the hour and was excellent.

We returned from holiday to find a leaking pipe in our bathroom. Reji arrived within 30 minutes of our emergency call and applied a fix quickly and efficiently. Very happy with the service.

Brilliant service

The 24 hour helpline answered after just a few rings, they coordinated my emergency burst pipe well with the plumber, they arrived quite fast through some bad traffic.
Worked continuously for 2 hours until the problem was found and fixed.
Amazing work. Gave us great piece of mind to go back to sleep.
