Recent upgrades were excellent

Recent upgrades were excellent. I had noticed a few setbacks that were corrected. For example, when I typed in a name and book and then went online to search, I had to type again. That was fixed. This saves me a lot of time. There are other features that I have not used yet. But I usually use the online search for adding sources. If I had a complaint, it would be the style sheets. If they could be more accurate, that would be nice. SBL style sheet is not up to speed. I appreciate the sheer number of these things being available, however. But when they are inaccurate, I have to go in and fix them myself. That is time consuming. But I love this product and have been using it for 25 years.

Ask the Users BEFORE changing program functionality

It would be nice if existing users of the product were queried prior to revisions of the product to see whether the inclusion or removal of a feature is desired. For instance, on older versions of the program, there was a thumbnail of attachments for any particular entry. This made it easy to see the quality of the attachment or whether there were multiple versions of the attachment tied to a particular entry.

Another issue is the timeliness of corrections made during program updates. For example, I was one of the first people to download v21 of the program and immediately noted that you were no longer able to paste into the search window using mouse commands as was the case in prior versions (Cntl-V still works.) I immediately reported the issue to technical support. The update to version 21 was just released and the problem still exists. This should have been a straightforward fix, yet it was ignored.

This software has been fantastic help…

This software has been fantastic help in updating my 1000 page textbook. However I found a minor glitch in 2021 version whereby i cannot directly copy and past DOIs as in 2020 version and instead copy then use two key to paste. It has been especially useful in using Google search then locating a reference then directly downloading the “cite” function. I highly recommend it for anyone in academics

EndNote, an indispensable tool

With EndNote, I no longer need to carry printed papers with me anywhere anymore: all is there in the my personal library: authors, dates, summaries and full texts. Attaching an old paper to a reference in the library is a breeze. And creating groups, add papers to them are all the features that make it easy the retrieval of needed information at any time, online or offline. The flexibility of switching from one bibliography style to another is alone a reason for having EndNote as a tool in the toolbox for any technical writer. Online search from public databases using keywords, downloading the free papers, and ranging them in designated groups are straightforward and very helpful. EndNote has become an indispensable tool for me and for my work for more than 30 years.

I upgraded from several EN versions…

I upgraded from several EN versions back. It was a little awkward to get used to EN21, but now that I have, I can appreciate some new features such as its remarkable ability to grab online PDFs without going through the usual hassles. There are a couple of older features that I miss, though: I used to be able to see a quick preview of a new reference in my chosen output format on-screen, without having to write it to an output file. (Maybe I just haven't figured out how to do that yet.) Also, on the Edit page the top toolbar is missing the Greek symbol conversion that used to be there. Also, it would be really helpful to give us a couple of highlight colors like yellow and red in that toolbar!

ENDNOTE is good but room for improvement exists.

ENDNOTE can help organize thousands of references and conduct Boolean searches even within PDF files. The ability to FIND FULL TEXT works only about 50% of the time. There is no AI option to summarize content in one or more PDF files. CiteWhileYouWrite works ok with WORD, but annoying "bugs" exist.

There's no replacement for EndNote when…

There's no replacement for EndNote when you want to inventory useful articles, find them again, and then footnote your paper. I have trouble syncing across Macs and also the pdf annotater is a bit limited compared to earlier EndNote versions. EndNote also sometimes corrupts my pdf's so I need to keep duplicates in a separate file. All in all, though, I couldn't live without the app.

Worth Every Pinched Penny

The experience was relatively painless. The app is more than worth the price, and they appear to have finally fixed the update process from within the application itself with this release.

Useful, but frustrating to deal with Clarivate.

I find EndNote to be extremely useful, but the company seems to be getting greedy and is extremely unresponsive to user input. They capriciously take away features in new versions that were in older versions, like the ability to hide unused fields. Why would anyone take that away? Why can't I share certain libraries with other users, not just one library for everything? Etc. Etc.
