Dishonest hub that encourages dishonesty

Even though the seller was unable to get Amazon logistics to deliver proof of their so-called delivery, they refused to reimburse me and said I had to go through the official complaints process for the refund. Ebay decided it had been delivered, siding with the courier without any investigation. Don't use LC Water Products, who are still claiming 100% satisfacton. Particularly depressing as I'm trying to live in a world without Amazon and this happens

Concern About Dishonest Sellers on eBay

Hi,

Some time ago, I noticed dishonest behaviour among certain eBay sellers. Specifically, I am referring to sellers registered in countries like China and Pakistan who advertise themselves as UK sellers. These sellers are based outside the UK and should not present themselves as UK Seller.

I reached out to eBay customer service regarding this issue, but they were unable to provide a clear answer. I was repeatedly transferred to different representatives, none of whom could address my question. Ultimately, I was hung up on without any resolution.

It seems that eBay is allowing these sellers to mislead their customers for profit. As a consequence of this dishonesty, I'm increasingly hearing people express surprise that anyone still chooses to buy from eBay.

Absolutely terrible experience on eBay when selling

Absolutely terrible experience selling here on eBay. I sold an item and a buyer got the item in a destroyed condition. As far as I can see in the selling page, eBay covers any loss or damage in transit, and I don't have to do anything. However, the buyer started a return saying the item wasn't as described, and eBay is trying to force me to refund them their money and I just lose the parcel. I cannot claim myself as eBay simple delivery labels aren't eligible, and eBay needs to claim themself. I called them and said this, however they said the case would be put on hold until the 14th of May, which is today, and I got an email saying "Your buyer is ready to return an item". First of all that is extremely misleading, because I don't accept returns, and also because eBay is only siding with the buyer in this. All emails I sent to ebay customer service have been completely ignored, none have been answered. I have called them and a few minutes in each call they hang up and don't ring back. The first email I sent was over 2 weeks ago now and no response, they were meant to respond within 48 hours. My most recent email was 5 days ago, also no response. This is extremely unprofessional and pathetic from eBay. If you force simple delivery, then you need to actually do what you say you'll do like covering for damage. Do not waste your time with eBay like I did.

Ebay is terrible!

Ebay has become like most selling platforms... utter useless. So frustrating I keep getting banned and listing's removed for violating counterfeit policy. When the items are 100% legit. The support service is diabolical, and appealing is not worth wasting your time, because they obviously know what is real and what is not, well I can assure you they don't, they are useless and shit, I seem to find this with most selling platforms today.

A patronizing Company who insult your…

A patronizing Company who insult your intelligence , finally collapsing

So much to condemn about eBay but will keep it short
See how they claim your listings are free?.
Well they're not !
the so-called buyers protection is the fee because, really sellers are paying for it.

Worse so now with their pushing to pass tax information on. No longer viable . Who wants to sell at a loss?
They're obviously not very clever - a lot of people are finally stopping using it after years and years.

One sells off one's things to make ends meet with a few bob not to feed the fat cats of eBay and tax office by selling at a loss and paying for the privilege

EXTREMELY Poor customer service, regard for sellers and heavily AI dependent.

Extremely disappointing experience with eBay as a seller.

My account was permanently suspended for supposedly posing a “risk to the eBay community,” yet no clear explanation was ever provided. Support repeatedly stated they “could not disclose” the reason for the restriction, while another representative directly mentioned “suspicious supplier/listing” concerns — which completely contradicts what I was told before.

What makes this even more frustrating is that I had no policy warnings, no negative feedback, no unresolved disputes, and no suspicious items listed. I had successfully sold a high-value PC without issues and built up dozens of positive reviews from legitimate transactions. Despite this, the account was removed without any meaningful opportunity to respond or clarify concerns.

The customer service experience was honestly one of the worst parts. Calls were abruptly ended, responses felt scripted and AI-generated, and there seemed to be little interest in applying actual logic or reviewing the account fairly. Even attempts to escalate the matter resulted in dismissive treatment rather than proper communication.

The most concerning part is the lack of consistency and transparency. If eBay staff are able to see internal reasons for suspensions, sellers deserve a fair process and clear communication instead of vague automated statements. No seller should have to fear losing years of work and reputation overnight without explanation.

After this experience, I genuinely would not recommend relying too heavily on an eBay store or business. There are countless reports online of long-standing accounts being suddenly restricted with little clarity or support.

Very poor seller support experience overall.

Do not use Ebay international shipping expensive and too long

Do not use Ebay international shipping. It takes a long time and its very expensive.
I paid $127 for ebay international shipping and it took 5 days UPS just to move within USA, then it will be shipped and I have been told up to another 15 days extra to be shipped from USA to UK. I could have had it shipped Fedex for less and it would have taken only 2 days to arrive with me in UK.

What a waste of time

Absolutely terrible experience using Ebay myself, I mostly use amazon for purchases and after using Ebay several times 4 years ago, I had stopped using it.

Now in May 2026, I decide to try Ebay for selling an item, setup the listing, no issues, one hour later, my account is permanently suspended - no clear reason given, nothing to dispute, call customer service, he restates that my account was suspended permanently but can't give me the reason for the suspension....

Avoid using that site at all costs.

Forced to use simple delivery

Forced to use simple delivery. A real pain for me as I have to travel further to post. On top of that they gets the postage wrong and the recipient get an excess postage charge which I have to refund and eating into my profit and p*ssing off the buyer.

I advise people to use Vinted MUCH MUCH better.

Well done Ebay. Not thought out properly and buggered it up good and proper

I am extremely disappointed with the…

I am extremely disappointed with the way this matter has been handled.

My item was lost, and I do not feel that eBay has provided any meaningful support or resolution. I was also asked to repay £348, which I have now paid, bringing my account balance back to £0.00. Despite this, my account remains restricted.

Every time I contact eBay, I appear to receive the same repeated responses, but no one has provided a clear explanation, proper advice, or a genuine reason for why the restriction remains in place.

To make matters worse, I am also unable to close my account because of the restriction. This leaves me in a position where I am effectively locked into an eBay account that I no longer wish to use, with no clear way to resolve the issue or leave the platform.

I am asking for this matter to be reviewed properly, for a clear explanation to be provided, and for either the restriction to be removed or for my account to be closed.

Otherwise, my eBay account will outlive us all. I'll one day be in a grave, but at least my restriction on my eBay account will still be in place.

Idiotic.

Money back promise is misleading and leaves you out of pocket

In summary, when something goes wrong you hope the money back promise protects you, for the first time in 17 years I needed it and it was a nightmare and riddled with excuses leaving me out of pocket.

I purchased a cricket bat with an estimated delivery date. As it was required for a match I allowed for an extra few days and ordered. Tracking kept showing that the seller hadn’t posted and the status changed to running late.

I opened a case with eBay and also contacted the seller asking them for a refund and not to post as I’d had to source from elsewhere. The seller claimed they had posted the item and said I’d need to return. Surprisingly the item arrives the next day having used 24hr delivery which is not what he was originally using.

As a result I had to request a return and refund. There is no option for late delivery, the item wasn’t faulty so I could only select ‘no longer required’. I then accepted the print return label thinking it was as described in eBay’s policy. They didn’t attempt to advise that if i did this they wouldn’t provide a refund on the postage.

The item was returned and I followed up on the case. eBay advised to contract the seller and the seller said eBay needed to step in as nothing they could do. After several unproductive emails with eBay they say they won’t cover my postage leaving me £13.63 out of pocket for something that wasn’t my fault.

I thought the money back promise protected me, it’s purely a marketing ploy. Beware when buying

ebay kindly try to explain their process in their excuses, I attempted to follow them. Advise for eBay is if you mislead loyal customers they will purchase elsewhere who value their custom

Ebay has died.

Revived my Ebay account from a couple of years ago, sold some expensive watches to tide me over financial strain and when the money is due, Ebay permanently suspends my account and witholds funds. No idea why, I am a law abiding citizen in the UK but not in Ebay only cares about Ebay world. Next step is trying to get hold of an Ebay that is doing it's very best to ensure you can't get hold of them. If you want to know what a dystopian AI future looks like.... Ebay

Absolute joke

Sold an item and had funds confirmed 2 days later when all was well with the order. Was asked to add a new bank to withdraw money and told it would confirm in 48 hours and be available, to then come into the account when it is clearly sitting there being added and to say I have to add a bank account for seller costs although the costs were already deducted by Ebay from my balance. I now have to wait 6-8 WORKING DAYS for verification of my bank account although I linked it through my app. The customer service is completely useless and just say the same things to you with no further help other than 'you can just wait'. I am reliant on this money to live as times are very hard so to have this situation is just painful. Will not sell there again.

EBay is just shocking these days don’t know why anyone uses them when Vinted is just so much easier and straight forward. How buyer can return a laptop after it was sold over 2 month ago is shocking. How can you sell items on eBay if the buyers have forever to be able to return an item.

Can't register a changed mobile number without giving more ID stuff?

I've been a registered member of ebay for years selling and buying and because a mobile phone number needs changing I cannot sign in without going through loads of ID stuff. I went in with my normal email and password, they phoned me back on the new number, and I confirmed identity with the code but they still want all the ID stuff. In the end to save the hassle I just purchased stuff as a guest? If they've used my email number for years to enter, had a password number confirmed on a phone (had the cheek to keep that number?) then why do they want my passport? What was the point of the code they put through on my phone?
