Where do I begin regarding the appalling service we have received from DHL?
I first emailed over two weeks ago to complain about the way I was treated at you the DHL Middleton depot. Since then, the only response I have received was a request for my shipment number, followed by complete silence.
As if that experience was not bad enough, the ongoing failure to collect a return parcel has resulted in repeated loss of income for my household.
To outline what has happened:
DHL failed to attend the original scheduled collection, causing my husband to lose a full day’s pay waiting in.
On Saturday 24 January, I contacted Wayfair, who assured me the collection would take place on Monday 26 January after 5pm, specifically to avoid further income loss.
On Monday morning, DHL emailed to say the driver would arrive “in a couple of hours.” My husband cancelled his students and returned home to wait. No one arrived. We did not miss the driver — we have CCTV footage confirming no attempt was made.
Wayfair then rescheduled the collection for Friday 4 February. Despite this, DHL unexpectedly turned up on Tuesday 27 January, when no one was home as we were at work.
On Wednesday 28 January, we received a text stating delivery would be between 11:27 and 12:27. Having had enough by this point, my husband again cancelled students and went home. He arrived at 11:20am, only to find via CCTV that DHL had already been and gone.
This situation is frankly unbelievable. Each failure has cost us time, money, and a great deal of unnecessary stress. To be told by Wayfair that we must simply “take a chance” and lose income again because DHL does not work Saturdays is unacceptable.
The lack of communication, missed collections, contradictory timings, and complete disregard for the financial impact on customers is shocking — and explains why DHL’s reputation is so poor.
I expect:
A full response to this complaint (not another automated request for information already provided).
An explanation for the repeated failures and inaccurate notifications.
Clarification on how DHL intends to resolve this without further financial loss to us.

No customer service available
I paid a lot of money to a company for a Samsung galaxy s25 Ultra. It was to be delivered between 9th -11th december. I had an email on 9th December saying "package was delayed it will be delivered next working day" I waited till the 12th allowing for it being a busy time of year. It is not possible to speak to a human. Every phone number was a Bot, I could've put up with that if it did what it said it would do. After many repeated questions and same repeated answers from the Bot, it eventually said "it seems you need to speak to one of our advisers, would you like to speak to an advisor just say Yes or No." I answered Yes, it then said "I am conntecting you to a customer advisor." I thought great, at long last, I waited a few seconds and the line was disconnected. Three times I rang and went through it all again only for it to keep happening. I am waiting till the 17th December and if my phone has not arrived I will be seeking legal advice and compensation for the stress and worry, and inconvenience. I am not just posting this on trustpilot but I'm going to copy it to every available website I can.

Appalling company, really shocking service. I ordered some pet medication on a next day delivery service (and paid premium price for it), only to have an email from dhl on the following day to say sorry, it had been delayed and would come the next day. By now it was urgent - this is a vital medicine which allows my rabbit to stay alive, so I can't do without it - but I just had enough to get through another day. Next day no email, phoned customer service which is a joke, permanently engaged. Unbelievable. Had to go to my vet and buy the medication separately, which costs 5 times what it does online. Still waiting for the parcel 3 days later. Shocking to me that so many people still use this dreadful company.

I used DHL Express to send a package from Vienna to Saigon and have experienced nothing but problems and broken promises.
The website indicated I could drop off at Austrian Post offices, DHL service points (i.e. mybox locations) and DHL stores, but the Austrian post office refused the package and sending it with a mybox didn't seem feasible. Going to only one of two DHL store locations was too far. So, I called DHL, and - I was happy at first - they offered to arrange pickup instead.
Then, the issues started. I had a hunch that I should write DHL and did so a day after the pickup. They said that the courier picked it up (which I knew - duh!), but after that first scan - nothing. The package vanished into thin air.
This issue has been going on for 11 days now, and while the package should have arrived on November 6, I still remain without any updates - and seemingly nobody knows where the package is. After multiple contacts (6+) where DHL repeatedly promised updates that never came, and with management escalation being completely ignored, there is still NO solution.
It also made me remember the time in 2020 when DHL lost my passport at the Swiss border on the way from Austria to Switzerland, and kept pushing the responsibility to the Swiss authorities.
In a nutshell, I paid premium prices for express delivery that was supposed to arrive within 3 business days. It never arrived and nobody knows where it is after 11 days. The result: unreliable tracking, confusing instructions, and customer service that makes promises they don't keep.
At premium prices, I expected premium service. What I got was worse than standard mail. Will definitely NOT use DHL ever again unless there is really no other option.
P.S. It also turned out that the delivery person didn't even request the right documents when picking up the package.
DHL's response to my Google Maps review? "Please email us" - and just adding the email I've anyway already been using!
Just check DHL's Facebook page, and you know immediately that the company does NOT care about feedback OR take any customer issues seriously.

I have raised a formal complaint about DHL through their system and they have ignored the 3 times it has been registered . And believe me the complaints are if a very serious nature and still no reply

Expected a very important letter today, while sitting at home the whole day, at 5.41pm I got an sms that the letter was left at the and of the city (Baden) in an automate. A simple letter costs 94 dollars from Canada to Austria, could travel in time through the world but cannot be delivered at the destination because the Austrian DHL is a mess. But the worst is the lie, that they tried to deliver but could not... Shame on you guys, the lowest of the low, all of you should quit and stop not to make life harder for others. Of course will never ever in my life use this insulting, scamming "service". Simple cannot believe that this is a western country and there was once a good service. They have missed to take a listed pro forma invoice upon picking up the parcel that was shipped to Austria from the UK. Then the parcel was in transit for more than 15 days due to their inability to reach out to me directly instead of the receiver. They pushed the receiver to fill up information in the pro forma invoice based on insufficient information. They have charged us for €664 additional tax duty fees for storing the parcel due to their lack of efficiency and now the parcel is on hold again as we refused to pay for this. Speaking to both DHL UK and Austria at the same time and no one is able to tell me anything but I have to pay.. I even put them on a same email thinking that I can speed up the process but nothing.. Look for other solutions if you're in need of a similar service as they as absolute useless.

They have terrible service. I see there are 95% of the reviews here with 1 star and don’t understand how may their headquarters don’t worry about this.
I paid to Express delivery for 24 hours and it took 1 week to get it after a lot of emails and calls with their workers. Total disappointed with this service and don’t recommend to anyone to use it.
Arbitrary and unexplained
Arbitrary and unexplained (mostly unexplainable) charges for non-service overall. Amongst others: exorbitant carriage fees (billed twice), unidentified "duty" charges, VAT collection where no sale took place, possibly fraudulent claims on events/transactions...
This in addition to bad communication, no clear guidance as to consequences of alternatives, decision demands and pressure, general lack of explanation - or even attempt at basic customer service. Sole text message received was incomprehensible and was almost identical to examples of fraudulent communication my bank warned about (I actually reported it before it was confirmed as genuine!)
Never, ever use for anything! I also wholly support the call to boycott companies that use DHL for their deliveries found elsewhere amongst these comments!!! Courier choice is a criterion I will apply when deciding my suppliers from now on...

The worst company Ive ever dealt with. Dropped off at depot for international express the woman was rude unhelpful and shook her head as she went into the back office, cant complain about her directly as she purposely had her id card on backwards! we wanted some help as not done this before and explained everything nicely to her. Then got email today saying our paperwork was insufficient and panicked as we had sent urgent legal documents - no explanation, no contact numbers, no reply to my emails. Happened to check the tracking and it stated was deliverered and signed for in USA two days ago!!! So has it been delivered? If so why send today a demanding email causing a panic saying parcel was held. Absolutely no way of contacting anyone to help email/chat/phone/depot noone will help at all you are at their mercy. Terrible experience from start to finish
