Teams at both ends of the move were respectful, courteous, and hard-working. Mike's team in Dunedin were particularly awesome despite tough conditions on a very windy/rainy day.

Moving from Perth to northern Spain - with a precious library and a two-person household - we were a "little" stressed. As always, the temptation is to go with the cheapest option for removals. We resisted that temptation and settled on the Crown quote - not cheap, but not outrageous. I have no idea WHY we felt good about Crown...perhaps it was the no-BS approach by their Perth rep, and his helpful understanding of a nervous book-collector! On the day, the packer was utterly marvellous. He did a wonderful job under the fussy eyes of the householder! The pick-up crew was calm, careful and professional. We paid a little extra to Crown to have the shipment delayed while we sorted out our new home purchase in Spain. Alas, the shipping company let us down - and let Crown down too - and caused a considerable multi-week delay beyond the scheduled arrival date. We were living out of two suitcases for much longer than planned! BUT, the Crown customer service people (Anthea and Tia) in Australia were unstinting in their support - as was the Crown shipping rep (Mamen) here in Spain. They kept us fully briefed at all times, listened sympathetically to our whingeing (justified really!), and did their best to rectify an impossible situation. The shipment DID finally arrive - in perfect condition, delivered and unpacked by yet another highly professional and helpful team. Then, when I complained to Crown in Australia about the shipping delay, they promptly offered me a very welcome and entirely acceptable refund on the "extra" charge. I was gobsmacked! I expected the usual barrage of excuses, procrastination and refusal that we've all grown to expect from many businesses these days. It wasn't really Crown's fault that their shipping company failed them, and I understood that...but, still, we did pay extra...
So, what's the takeaway?
If you want someone to treat your household treasures the way you would; if you want someone to listen to your concerns and RESPOND; if you want to talk with staff who are responsive and kind - even to grumpy customers; then, go with Crown. Frankly, you'd be mad not to.

My move was from Wellington to Auckland. My household items were delivered on 10/03/2026 by Nate and Mike from Auckland branch.
These two guys were very quick and delivered the packed boxes in the rooms where we wanted. They were very polite and obliging.
They unpacked all the heavy items and assembled all the beds for us to rest that night itself.

The sales person at Crown movers made us a lot of assurances. I believe we were deliberately misled about our final costs.First they waited until all our items had been packed and collected and were with crown movers to send us an email saying "oh by the way, do you want to pay several hundred dollars extra for insurance on your stuff ?" This fee wasn't mentioned in our original quote.
Also: crown movers knew exactly what kind of visas we had, they had us send them our visas. They waited until all of our stuff had arrived in New Zealand to say "oh, by the way, there's an extra $3,500 USD you have to pay customs so they'll let you bring your things in."
This was completely without any warning. We would have brought much less if we had known. We are now way over budget.
The movers that packed up our things in Los Angeles presented us with a very serious language barrier. They threw things in boxes at random and failed to label the boxes accurately. Apparently we have 20 boxes of "toys." there was a 50 pound box of "cookbooks" that actually had my husband's CPAP machine in it.
I never owned any cookbooks.
It will literally take us years to sort out this chaos.
Two boxes of our favorite clothes were water damaged and mildewed beyond repair. The claims process was extremely difficult and time-consuming and we are still waiting to hear back from them. Since we only have 30 days since delivery to file any claims, we will just be out of luck if we find more broken or moldy things as we unpack.
The team that showed up in Auckland to deliver our things were two very nice men. One of them, however, was struggling so much with the boxes that at a certain point, he said "I'm just gonna put these here, they're heavy." even though they needed to go in my daughter's upstairs bedroom. I felt bad for him, but I also felt bad for my daughter.
Two weeks ago, I called the company to say that I didn't know what to do with the huge pile of moldy clothes on my patio and that the weather was about to get rainy and it didn't seem safe or healthy or kind to my neighbors to leave it there. a friendly person on the phone said that one of the movers would be there in a couple days to take the moldy clothes with him. I really appreciated this.
After $5000 worth of clothing was destroyed by mold and mildew due to transit damage, they originally offered us $1000 to "dry clean" all of this contaminated clothing, and insisted that we "didn't elect to insure for mold."
After two weeks of back and forth, they agreed to the claim. I am currently waiting for the payment. Wish me luck.

As I write this I am at the end the journey so to speak, having officially fully relocated with all my belongings and limbs intact.
Admittedly, the process didn't always feel seamless, and I have had my share of irritants emerge as a result, however I cannot stress enough how grateful and appreciative I am for Kay and the whole team at Crown. Particularly Kay with her support and extra efforts.

It brings me comfort to know that when It's time to re-relocate back home I will be in safe hands.
