Churchill Insurance was one of the UK’s first direct motor insurers. Over the years our business has grown and so has the range of cover we provide. We offer car insurance, home insurance, travel insurance, pet insurance, van insurance and breakdown cover. Churchill is one of Britain’s most recognisable brands, thanks to our brand mascot Churchill the dog. Disappointed to see my premium rise again despite another year of no claims.

Prices in Scotland for home insurance have gone down since 2025 according to a number of news articles. Yet Churchill increased my home insurance by 15% this year. When queried (what is frustrating to do via their messaging app), they only provided the copy paste "it can be due to many different factors" answer.

DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOUR !! Lies ,Deceit and Attempted Cover Up without any apology
Case Number 226739597/3 [CC247047600]
Churchill have had a blatant disregard for customer service whilst handling my case
Churchill told multiple lies including "the fact my car and personal belongings would be safeguarded "already knowing it had been sent to salvage
Churchill also told me I had an option to buy the car but I later found out the car was disposed of two weeks earlier, another lie
I have a recording of Churchill employee Chelsea admitting that Churchill " had messed up " and then telling me in the same call they had done nothing wrong
I had £750 worth of personal belongings in the car that i couldn't access because the boot door was damaged and was told my belongings would be safeguarded another lie
I eventually tracked my personal belongings down from the salvage yard and they were all soiled/ruined
My car was completely undervalued and they wouldnt pay me out the true market value and then they tried to fob me off with a paltry " hush" payment
Its important to acknowledge this review is based on fact and not posted emotionally
Stay well away for Churchill, as they just do and say whatever they want without any consideration for the customer.
Note to the Churchill team posting review replies:
Dont waste your time with your standard hollow, non relevant answers
"sorry to hear about your experience,"
"We hope we can reach an outcome you're happy with"
"please contact our complaints line etc"
because this saga has already being dragging on for three plus months, with the complaint unsatisfactorily addressed by Churchill hence causing extreme stress and hardship ( which you would be aware of if you could be bothered to cross reference the claim number )
Financial Ombudsman instruction prepared:
Really Pathetic treatment of an honest customer !
You should all be ashamed of your behaviour !
Disgusting….I told 2 customer service team members I would not be renewing my policy, but they took the money any way and will not refund for 5 working days. No money to pay for groceries or other bills 😢

Had a very high renewal quote from existing building insurance company and they would not match Churchills quote for the same item.

I did not like the chatbot, although it was quite efficient
It would however have been helpful to talk to someone.

It was very easy to continue my cover, and to make tho gs even better it was cheaper than last year. I didn't have the stress of looking for other quotes or contacting them to haggle.
