Get a CARP Membership - You won't regret it.

I've been a CARP member for over 20 years and have enjoyed reading the magazines and found them also very informative for seniors on a variety of subjects. They have associations with various companies which provide discounts on usefull products from insurance, to hearing aids, to trips, to so many others. The list is too long.

Assisted Living Homes Uncontrollable Costs??

What is CARP doing to lobby the Government to regulate the uncontrollable price increases in the Assisted Living Homes I Ontario. My Mom’s monthly cost has increased by 68 % in less than three years. Why is CARP not standing up for elderly retired people. The elderly slightly demented person who cannot get into a Provincial Long Term Care Homes because they are all full and have waiting lists of 300 and 400 people.
Our provincial government controls rent cost for the young healthy employed persons but does nothing to control the care prices charged in privately owner Assisted Living Homes. The owners of these homes can charge what they want and increase their prices when ever they want.
I would like to hear what CARP has done recently to address this crime against the elderly

I just appreciate your ongoing advocacy…

I just appreciate your ongoing advocacy in a land where as an individual you have no voice. No letters printed no phone calls answered Pretty discouraging when you are in your 80’s and realise democracy is non existent in Canada and prospects are grim with the three bills in parliament which will kill any freedom of expression

Great resources from CARP

Great resources from CARP. And emailed information from CARP too. Would be great if more discounts were offered from retail and various service providers.

Your communication with members is poor…

Your communication with members is poor to non-existent. I have on several occasions connected CARP, recently on October 6/25, but never recieve a reply. If I call and someone answers the phone (??), they will speak with me but there is no follow up. I have inquired a couple times regarding a chapter in New Brunswick, however there has been no communication or apparent interest. Also asked about promoting CARP in the atlantic region. Have heard nothing. Apparently there is no interest east of Ontario. Finally never hear CARP publicly speaking out on behave of seniors, at less not in my region. Maybe communications can improve in area. Until then I give a poor grade.

An overview for seniors

I appreciate the overview provided by CARP. There are so many items of government and commercial business that affect seniors, it is good to have an advocate for our population segment.
