No integrity

Just witnessed an employee cursing at a customer. It reminded me, when I was a student in 1999 I worked for them, stacking shelves for one week. Had to quit becasue it was clashing with my lectures. They never paid me. What kind of a company would take advantage of a student trying to make ends meet?

They refused to accept 3 different cards!

They refused to accept 3 different debit cards because mine (from Jersey) did not have a signature on them! I have used my cards all over the world and have NEVER needed a signature. When I asked the manager why they only accepted signature cards, she did not know! I can not think of any reason why a signature is required by Budgens. It does not make the transactions more secure for Budgens - they will get their money whatever happens. Stupid, stupid company. I will never go there again.

🛒🌽🍎🥖🧈🥨🥞

went into Budgens for “just one thing” and somehow left with a receipt longer than my arm, three items I don’t remember picking up, and a deep sense of financial regret.
The layout feels like it was designed by someone who really hates people finding things. Milk? Aisle 2. No wait—Aisle 5. Actually behind a pillar next to something labelled “seasonal surprise.” I aged emotionally trying to locate bread.
Staff were perfectly polite, which somehow made it worse because I couldn’t even justify my confusion with righteous anger. Just me, politely lost.
Also, how is everything both overpriced and slightly questionable at the same time? My sandwich looked like it had seen things.
One star. I’ll be back tomorrow because it’s the closest shop, but I won’t be happy about it.

Check your receipts.

If you use the Colnbrook branch and you buy several items always ask for a receipt as you stand a good chance of being charged TWICE (or more) for some items.

Complete incompetence and totally…

Complete incompetence and totally ignorant. Staff struggle to understand English and act like it’s your fault you can’t understand a word they say. Had Evri package delivered there as I was sick of Evri courier chucking packages over my gate, wish I hadn’t bothered. Two trips there and they said they couldn’t find my package, counter staff continued to serve customers and stopped looking for my package as I stood and waited. Eventually, after much complaining, the package was found, albeit opened. I will never darken Budgens door ever again.

This used to be a handy well kept store.

This used to be a reasonable store. Staff do a sterling job, considering the lack of care from the owners. They are being expected to work in a very cold and draughty environment. The "automatic doors" have not functioned for months. This means either they are left open and both customers and staff freeze, or it down to the shoppers (many of whom are frail) to open and force them closed. I have no doubt that like me those of us with the means are choosing to shop in pleasanter environments and sadly I fully suspect this very handy store, will be closed before long, unless some action is taken. It's a dreadful situation for all locals (many of whom depend on it) and for the poor staff who have to work there.

I refuse to shop here again

I refuse to shop here again. I wanted a tin of chickpeas only to find they all had big dents in them. When I asked a staff member she said they all get delivered in that state. Every single tin dented & very overpriced at £1.19 when you pay an exorbitant price you expect a first class product. Unhappy customer

Just purchased potatoes from the Giltbrook Nottingham store. Opened to find green and beginning to chit. So returned immediately and selected another bag but then the owner tried to charge and would not swap or refund!!

I like Budgens but I have to draw the line. Feeling poorly on the drive home I stopped off at Budgens, on Whippendell road. I wanted to purchase a box of paracetamol. I asked the price and was told £1.50 for 1 box 16tablets Galpharm Paracetamol. I could not believe it. The price of paracetamol in Sainsbury is less than 50p. The pharmacy 63p. B&m and the high street less than 60p for Galpharm. Why is Budgens allowed to rip off customers. 😔 prices need to be controlled with these businesses.

Disrespectful staff

Frightfully dreadful experience at budgens leigham court road London.

This third-rate wreckage serves as a collection point for numerous online platforms.
Went to collect package, duly showed collection code but the 3 dark men behind the counter claimed it didn't match the package bearing my name and address.
So they refused to give it to me but enjoyed waving it in my face.
They spoke about me in their own language, laughed and mocked me.
They refused to give me the name of the manager so I could raise a complaint. The disrespect I encountered was frankly shocking.

It was intimidating and thoroughly unpleasant. I've had to claim a refund as I'm too distressed to return.

Manager rude and not willing to listen…

Manager rude and not willing to listen or help someone clearly having mental health issues and having problems paying which was eventually sorted. They asked to use toilets though refused resulting in person wetting themselves in store for which they were thrown out. Your female assistant wanting to help though not allowed by manager. What a vile creature running the garage shop in Bridgwater. They need training in customer service, divercity and inclusion of all shop users.

Made to wait whilst other customers were served and overcharged - and have to contact the shops direct rather than contacting customer services!!

I don't normally shop at Budgens but on this occasion my autistic brother was going in for lottery tickets so I went in to make sure he was ok.

I chose two reduced pizzas and queued to pay for them. My brother was in front of me and the lottery wasn't working properly so the man was having to type them in. There was a queue which had built up behind and a couple of people were being quite aggressive about the time it was taking so the man left my brother just standing there whilst he broke off to serve us. He didn't even explain what was going on to him.

I didn't want to cause a fuss so I just paid for my pizzas and hung round outside. Eventually the queue was dealt with and my brother was served but he was in there quite a long time. In my opinion the people in the queue should have told to wait their turn.

To add insult to injury when I looked at my credit card bill I had been charged the full price for 2 reduced pizzas which was very annoying - but when I looked up their customer services to complain they suggest you go back to the shop (which is miles away).
