Borrow my doggy sounds like a good idea. In principal. I must have sent out 30 messages to people who are supposed to be interested in being a "borrower" and out of those 30 messages I have one borrow... See more

Esme is caring
Esme is caring. Myrtle loves walking with Esme. So glad I found Borrow my Doggy. I have 2 walkers and they both have helped me in different ways of doing things This is an amazing set up. All free just pay for insurance.

I started my ‘borrower’ journey last…
I started my ‘borrower’ journey last week with 12 year old Leo the Huskey. His lovely owner can no longer give him the long walks he needs for a big dog & even though he’s 12, he has a lot of energy. I had an instant bond with Leo and will now walk him twice weekly. All involved very happy. What a great app & service 🙏

Honestly I just feel sad
Honestly I just feel sad. I misunderstood what the site was for after my work coach at the jobcentre told me this would be a good site to advertise dog walking and sitting services (paid) but it is a volenteer only website. I paid the fee for checks only last night.
Naturally they closed my account as its a business account and that's OK but I obviously missed the smallprint that said they will keep my money. Sad and unfair I just did what I was asked by my work coach and they didn't accept my account but kept my money. I don't have alot of money was meant to be an investment into my business. Depressing site.

I am furious with this organisation
I am furious with this organisation. Citizens Advice Bureau recommend this service to my mum, my dad has Alzheimer’s and she needs support with her dog. The man who said he would be able to support sent some concerning messages to my mum, calling her ‘babe’ in his messages, asking if she wanted to meet in ‘a lay by’, something felt very wrong about the communication …. Be careful people!

I LOVE BorrowMyDoggy
I love BorrowMyDoggy. I've been a 'Borrower' since 2018. In the early days, the company wasn't very well known in my area, however, there are now lots & lots of doggies. I love the fact I can borrow a doggie & bring them for walks, pup cups & other adventures. I love that owners can find local borrowers to spend time with their doggie(s). I love the fact that doggies get to socialise & have adventures.
I currently borrow lovely Teddy, a Cockapoo & Milo, a Toy Cavapoo who is 18 months old & a little nervous. I am trying to help build Milo's confidence. Last year I borrowed Charlee, a 15 year old Maltese a couple of times a week for nine months until he left for the Rainbow Bridge. After losing my sister's doggie, Charlee made me smile again & healed my broken heart. He was very special to me. Some members may not respond which is unfortunate. This happens with lots of websites, not just BMD. BorrowMyDoggy works hard to maintain a wonderful community. They also offer lots of support via their friendly to use app & website plus insurance for borrowers. BMD is perfect for doggie owners & anyone who has some time on their hands who loves doggies. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. I would also recommend signing up directly with BMD rather than the Apple store.

What a brilliant idea
What a brilliant idea. I’m a ‘borrower’ and have found a lovely little dog that needs a bit of company/walks. I can understand frustration from people not finding the ‘right’ fit but keep going it’s worth it. Thanks BorrowMyDoggy!

Great experience
I have been using BMD for 3 years as my children would love to have a dog but we are simply too busy and travel too much to have our own. So instead we signed up to BMD and since then have looked after 3 local dogs repeatedly, 2 cockapoos and a cavapoo. We have become very friendly with the owners and they really trust us with their dogs, and we trust them. I even had to take one to the emergency vet on a weekend and fork out £600 for an operation but it all went well! Really recommend BMD!

This is an excellent platform which…
This is an excellent platform which connects you with other dog lovers so you are in a ‘win-win’ situation.
We now have three different people helping us out at the weekends and one day a week and they are all lovely, kind people who really want to help others whilst at the same time getting their ‘doggy fix’ too!
I’ve learnt that unless you have the time it is very difficult to own a dog and take care of it 100% of the time so ‘borrow my doggy’ is a wonderful concept which gives so much joy to so many people! Thank you for caring & cresting such a wonderful community! 🐕🦺🙏🐕🦺

So disappointing!
I signed up as i wanted to have involvment with a dog as i cannot have my own currently. 1 person replied and sounded a good match but when i said that the day she wanted what was basically a free dogsitter to be at her home i would possibly have hospital apts but always have lots of notice she changed her tune as she wanted her puppy to always have same person. Why buy a puppy before researching care options for work. Other message no reply. I joined this group full of good intentions but there are an awful lotof folks only wanting dogs to be borrowed for holidays!! Would NOT reccomend this group it does not offer as advertised. VERY disappointed. Thankfully premium membetship isnt a lotof money.

Received two matches in the first week…
Received two matches in the first week and I've taken one of the dogs out for a couple of walks now. Meeting the second dog next week. We have been clear that we want to be matched with dogs a walkable distance from our home so whenever we get a match we ask the dog owners how close they are. We're very happy with the service so far. It's very useful to be able to message within the app initially.

Very useful
It's a great idea and gives us a break from dog walking. We've met a lovely family who walk our girl regularly. She loves them. Others have been less reliable (maybe because we prefer our girl to be walked on lead).

Good system for finding lovely people…
Good system for finding lovely people who want to borrow my dog . It helps me out, so I feel assured he is well cared for when I need to leave him for several hours. He enjoys different company and varied walks too. Feels a safe way to find new people who love dogs.

BMD is a good concept but not always successful
BMD is a good concept but I have found that Borrowers can be unrealistic about the commitment to helping out with Dog Walking or Sitting. Some want to have my dog with them more than I need/want, and some are either unreliable or never available. I have had to try many different Borrowers and this is quite wearing, and whilst my dog is very adaptable it would be preferable to have a consistent Borrower.
Having said that, after 5 months I feel I may now have found a good fit.

It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done
It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done, I have 3 days off at a time and it gives me company, exercise and meet new friends, what’s not to like 💙

Sleazy business— hire a pet sitter instead
This site is unfortunately quite scummy. Not sure how they’ve managed as much success as they have by charging people to volunteer their time for free.
To be very clear, they charge on both ends— they charge the people looking to have their dog “borrowed” (paid to this random site instead of the person who they expect to care for their animal). They also charge the “borrowers” who are volunteering their time for 0 pay,, for the privilege of being connected to dog owners who need their dog minded.
This purpose can easily be accomplished via social media, networking irl, hell even a flyer on a local notice board. And in all of those situations, you’re likely to get at least some pay for the labour of caring for other people’s dogs, as opposed to paying a corporation for volunteer opportunities.
On several occasions owners expressed their irritation to me that the people walking their animals FOR FREE weren’t as reliable and consistent as they had hoped. People who were receiving no compensation to do a job for someone were prioritising their personal, family, and paid responsibilities over minding a stranger’s pet for free. That’s normal in a cost of living crisis. Expecting consistent and reliable free labour is not.
Dog lovers/borrowers— know your worth. Don’t use this site. Caring for someone’s animal is work that should be compensated.
Dog owners- your dog’s care is worth paying a competent pet care professional. Don’t use this site.

I have used Borrow my Doggy just once
I have used Borrow my Doggy just once, and gained a friend, I am about to use again, and the next borrower has already liked my dog, which bodes well to make another friend. Well worth the subscription.

My experience is made great by the…appearance of energetic poodle
My experience is made great by the kindness of dog owner and her willingness for me to have her dog . We are building up quite nice rapport. It just makes me feel better to see her dog after losing my 16yr old man, my husband and I enjoy her visits so much
