Amazing Instructors and Machines 10/10
Fantastic team at BMW rider training Royston. It was an enjoyable and memorable experience the whole way through. Great way of teaching and demonstrating ways to make riding easier and enjoyable.
Fantastic bikes, well maintained and modern. I never thought riding an adventure bike would be so fun :)
Having never touched a bike before to passing both MOD1 and 2 in just over 7days is a testament to the instructors and the program.
Just completed a 7day DAS course
Just completed a 7day DAS course. Nervous but excited about finally putting myself forward for my bike test, after wanting to complete it for 40 yrs of not riding. I can honestly say, Bob my instructor, was very good at the way he understood my capabilities and his constant direction, not only to instruct on my riding skills but giving me the understanding of safe and competent riding.
For anyone thinking about a DAS course I would highly recommend the BMW Rider Training Centre at Royston and specifically Bob!
Highly recommend
Fantastic experience at BMW Exeter training centre. Superb bikes and brilliant trainers.
The best way to learn to ride
I got to the age of 34 having never had an interest in riding a motorcycle. It was something that was required for my job and so I was sent to do this course. I entered it thinking that it wouldn’t be for me, and that I’d just have to get through it. My instructor (Dennis) was frankly awesome. I found myself getting frustrated when I was getting something and he had this ability to change tac and make it click.
The fist ride out on the road, I couldn’t get the grin off my face and realised I love being on a bike. The course was intense but I loved every second. The confidence I felt being on the bike surprised me and I put this largely down to the instruction which was nothing short of impeccable. The centre is clean, all of the staff and instructors are welcoming and helpful.
I really can’t recommend it highly enough, I’d go back and do it all again in a heartbeat. If you want to not just learn to ride a bike, but learn to ride safely, confidently and competently - this is the place to go
A very professional training course
Recently completed a DAS at Exeter site. Great to have access to the private Network to get confident on the big bike before heading out onto public roads. A very professional training course, very calm & positive instructor, would highly recommend.
Very professional instructors
Very professional instructors, a welcoming atmosphere, high training standards, and nice bikes.
Back to Riding Refresher Course
After more years off a bike than I care to remember, I'm getting back in to biking. To start the process, I attended a Back to Riding Refresher Couse. The day was excellent. It allowed me to refresh some basic skills and I spent a good proportion of the day on the road learning from the instructor. Its given me the confidence to take the next step. Thank you.
BMW Training Royston
I chose BMW training for a number of reasons.
Bigger bike GS800F , I am 6'6"
Intensive training - I had recently failed Mod 1 with a speedtrap confidence issue.
After my initial enquiry, i was phoned after hours in the evening and all my fears discussed and a personal plan put together.
I chose the Royston center because it is the original.
On day one Julie was superb and got me settled and by the end of the day on the 800 and primed for Toby.
Toby is a very technical trainer which resonated with me - I arrived able to ride and left able to ride safely with confidence.
Passing Mod 1 and Mod 2 were the icing on the cake.
Superb bikes and equipment , superb instructors.
If you are hesitating , don't , just book it .
I have been meaning to do this since 1982
A massive big ThankYou to Toby , couldn't have done it without you.
Now to go bike shopping ....
If you want a high quality and fun DAS course you need this one!!
I attended a 7 day DAS course in Royston having never ridden a geared motorbike. Whole vibe of the place is brilliant - good facilities and excellent bikes and kit. There is a strict 1:2 instructor student ratio and the quality of the technical training for slow manoeuvres and then progressing to the road elements is excellent. They have lower bikes for shorter riders (I’m 5’4) and the course is well structured and focussed on completing MOD1 and 2. The bikes were lovely and instructors patient when the inevitable bike drop happens. I had one of the best weeks doing this course and can’t recommend it highly enough.
Such an incredible experience
Such an incredible experience, felt very safe with our instructor Chris Kingsley, learnt so much and came out 100x more confident, would highly recommend!
An amazingly professional organisation…
An amazingly professional organisation at BMW Motorrad. Expert coaching and instruction and all the instructors were professional, friendly and experienced riders.
Absolutely incredible experience with Ian and Dennis!
Learning to ride a motorcycle with these two was an absolute blast from start to finish! They’re not just amazing instructors they’re patient, friendly, and somehow managed to keep calm through all my wobbles, nerves, and emotional moments 😅.
Every lesson was packed with laughter, encouragement, and genuine support. They made something that felt scary at first into something I now love!
I passed my test thanks to their brilliant teaching (and superhuman patience). If you’re thinking about learning to ride-stop thinking and book! You’ll have fun, feel confident, and actually enjoy the journey.
Highly, highly recommend — 5 stars isn’t enough! 🏍️💨🔥
7 day DAS course Exeter
Did the 7 day course at Exeter. Had a fantastic experience. I already had a CBT so the first morning was on a large private training road network with traffic light, various types of junctions and a small roundabout and on a separate MOD 1 practice area (on a BMW GS310). The afternoon was spent out on the road. The 310 was a nice step up before moving on to the F800GS the next day. All of the riding kit provided and bikes are top drawer. The rest of the week was a nice progression of MOD 1 practice and road riding. The instructors, Stan and Martin were amazing throughout the week. They had video and pictorial images of some of the more confusing roundabouts and junctions before we rode them so that we knew the lines and /or lanes to take before we tackled them on the road. Their feedback was always calm and constructive. It's probably more expensive than most courses out there and I obviously can't comment on those but from the get go I was really, really happy with every aspect of the week. Would definitely like to do some kind of advanced riding course with the same instructors once I get some miles on the road. Five stars all round.
BMW Rider Training Exeter
I can’t recommend them highly enough.
Stan and Chris my instructors are genuinely passionate for helping you to become a safe and skilled rider not just passing the tests.
I went from never having ridden a motorbike, to passing my CBT, then passing my Mod1 and Mod2. The access to the private road network with roundabout, traffic lights, hills, stop and give way junctions gave me confidence before going out onto the real roads.
Stan has given me a solid foundation and I am now confidently looking forward to my advanced training.
Thanks again to Stan and Chris and the team.
I didn't just pass - I can now Ride
I didn't just pass - I can now Ride.
We covered over 100 miles of riding most days, 4-6 hours on the road, plus pad time. Thats 35-40 hours of road riding + pad time, over 450 miles clocked up.
Toby was excellent in his approach and challenged us to get up to speed quickly, but was adaptable and approachable, tailoring the sessions to our individual needs.
Having always adored motorcycles, but found them intimidating and fundamentally did not know how to ride, I've gone from zero experience to complete confidence on the machine.
This course - the intensive 6/7 day doesn't teach you to pass a test, it teaches you how to be comfortable and safe on a motorcycle.
Thanks again to the team and instructor Toby.
Brilliant
I cant recommend BMW Rider Training enough. Completed a 6 day DAS course which was a fantastic experience, the amount of riding we did was astonishing, I had previously trained with a different local school and the difference in level of coaching and time on the bikes was night and day.
Our instructor Toby was brilliant, incredibly knowledgeable and really great at getting the best out of us. I felt that I learnt far more than just how to get through my tests and having the opportunity to learn and improve so much as a rider with such a great and experienced instructor really set this school apart from the competition.
Outstanding Motorcycle Training Experience
I recently completed a six-day BMW Rider training course at Corser Motorcycle Training in Darlington, and I couldn’t be more impressed. The program was professional, comprehensive, and deeply focused on rider safety—everything you’d want from a top-tier training provider.
A special mention goes to Instructor Neil, whose expertise in motorcycling was matched by his engaging knowledge of local history. His friendly, down-to-earth approach made each ride feel like a journey with an old friend, blending technical instruction with genuine enjoyment.
If you’re looking for high-quality motorcycle training delivered with warmth and precision, I highly recommend Corser Motorcycle Training. An unforgettable experience from start to finish.
It’s more than just passing mod 1 and 2…
It’s more than just passing mod 1 and 2 for this training school, the experience from all the team is beyond anything I have spoken to other training schools.
Denice and Ian were incredible throughout the whole week, to be told when everything had finished and about to go home how far I have got in ability really did make me appreciate what I have learned over the 7 days of intense training. (I had never been on a motorbike before this training)
They offer much more than just the pass stamp on the driving licence, nothing is too much bother everything is answered to your ability to understand what you need to do or how to overcome what you need to do.
The whole package is the support you need to get you through and onto the road as a confident and safe rider giving the best possible chance to go home after a ride out on your motorbike. That is something you can’t put a price on!
Bob you was great on Saturday haha!
BMW Motorbike training Exeter 5* review.
I recently completed my motorbike training with BMW Rider Training in Exeter, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. From start to finish the whole experience was professional, friendly, and confidence-building.
A special mention has to go to Stan, my instructor. He was absolutely brilliant – patient, clear in his explanations, and genuinely passionate about helping you become a safe and skilled rider. He struck the perfect balance between keeping things relaxed and fun while making sure every detail was understood. His encouragement really boosted my confidence, especially in the trickier parts of the training.
The facilities and bikes were top-notch, and the whole team made the process smooth and enjoyable. If you’re thinking about motorbike training in the South West, Exeter BMW should be your first stop. Thanks again to Stan and the team.
Excellent course, huge focus on rider safety
If anyone wants to get themselves equipped to ride a motorcycle safely and get through the required tests, I can't recommend BMW Rider Training highly enough. Martin was a superb instructor, taking us through step by step, with great knowledge and patience. He took the time to build confidence and skill set, and by the end I felt I was a happy and confident rider (albeit more experience always beneficial), and was thrilled to pass and get my licence. If you're at all thinking of getting onto a motorbike, this is the course for you.
