I tried to inquire about details made on a transaction that was executed a few months ago in efforts to find clarifications but did not get further details communication nor a response to my inquiry, if you looking for transparency, medium level communication , customer service when you needed , look elsewhere and I recommend to not waste your time here.

My account was automatically migrated to BitBuy from Bitvo. I am unable to access my account due to a phone number change. Understandable for security reasons…. However, I have sent them my verification information 3 times and after 5 days still have not heard back from them. I am extremely anxious!! I hope a rep reads this message

I am giving 2 Stars to BitBuy. First transaction (BTC) I sent to my external wallet arrived but other 2 are still on pending for more than 5 business days. Holding Funds
Excessive holding of funds.
It's literally no different than the BS you deal with banks but a little worse. They frequently hold funds but have no problem accepting them onto the platform. God forbid you try to take them off. The immediate assumption is that you're funding terrorists or laundering money.
They already have all the information they could have about who you are and what you do so don't understand the constant need for holds and reviews.
This CEX is hot trash, similar to banks but with lower limits. Their throttling a main use case of crypto which is permissionless transactions. Canada is hindering the growth and adoption of the industry but layering on bureaucratic policies under the guise of AML.

.. very slow process to withdraw crypto to personal wallet. You need to exchange emails with Bitbuy support about the nature and purpose of your crypto withdrawal request. Expect to wait a couple of days.

Stay away from Bitbuy; they will close your account for no valid reason.
I was a loyal Bitbuy customer for three years. Recently, a buddy paid me back in BTC for an expensive purchase (about a few thousand CAD). We are both students, and he had savings from the last bull run in crypto.
A few weeks later, Nauman (who also went by Saul G) from Bitbuy Support asked me about my transaction with my buddy. I told him my friend was paying me back in BTC. Nauman then asked me for my friend's full name, address, date of birth, occupation, and employer. I told Nauman I had privacy concerns and had to speak to my friend. However, I had already provided this information on the Bitbuy portal. Nauman confirmed he had most of the information and asked me to verify my friend's occupation. I said my friend was a student and thought this would resolve the matter, but I was wrong.
Two weeks later, Bitbuy Support sent me an automatic response threatening to restrict my account if I did not provide further responses to them. I was confused because I cooperated with Nauman. I asked customer service to stop sending me automatic responses. Then, a support staff named Saul G replied and once again asked for my friend's full address and date of birth. I provided this information to Nauman, so I was unsure why Saul asked me for my friend's details again. To add to the confusion, Saul ended some of his emails in 'Nauman', leading me to believe they were the same person.
Despite having this information, Nauman again claimed he needed my friend's full name, address, date of birth, occupation, and employer. I once again provided my friend's personal information to Nauman but could not recall his date of birth. Nevertheless, Bitbuy had this information on file from when I first provided my friend's information on the platform. Yet, Saul/Nauman asked me to check with my friend again for a third time.
To add to the confusion, a Bitbuy representative named Oliver emailed me asking for my friend's information. I informed him that I was already speaking to Nauman. He apologized and acknowledged the error.
A few months later, I tried logging into my Bitbuy account but could not. I contacted customer support and got the following response from Rebecca T, the 'Team Lead' at Bitbuy:
"At Bitbuy, we periodically conduct reviews of our client relationships. After a thorough review of your Bitbuy account, we have decided that we can no longer continue to support your current account and/or services with Bitbuy."
According to Nauman/Saul, I did nothing wrong. Yet, Nauman kept pressing me for information he had already had for months over one transaction.
Nauman would not accept my responses even when I told him all of my friend's personal details. Then, Bitbuy closed my account without any warning, reason or notice. Be warned when doing business with Bitbuy. You may lose your account and your funds at their whim.

Worst Customer Service Ever
I began opening an account on Oct. 29/23 and as at Nov./10/23, I am not verified and no responses to numerous messages. This may be the worst customer service I have ever seen in any entity ever. Perhaps their new owner can correct it. There is no way I would entrust my financial assets to such an irresponsible, incapable organization. I am surprised they have a license to operate. But then again, perhaps one should check on this. I am completely disgusted with my treatment here and strongly advise avoiding this hassle.

This is scam , stay away. They just taking all your personal information. And you won't be able even to do anything on their website.
Verification process total scam. They asking to upload all your documents and selfie. And after that, the site goes to constant freeze. Saying, we still checking your documents.
First time, i thought, ok, maybe I've really done something wrong. So I've sent them more photos. But after receiving them. The verification process going already for a week, and will never end. Without any explanation and communication, the only thing ( my first week of waiting) i received the email later, after waiting my first 2 weeks, for verification to be done. And only after writing to them.
They just fishing your personal info.
So be aware!
Updating my review. Almost one week later,after my second verification started, my verification finally done. I don't know, why it's took them so long. But,maybe it's a technical issue, or something else.
Will start using this site now. Hopefully i will not get anymore problems. Will be updating my review with time

Scam... You warned!!!
I should check the reviews and rating here, before dealing with this scammers. They accept all kind of deposits without problem, but when you need to withdraw your crypto, fun ends. Have several open tickets, hundreds of questions, no reply, account on hold. Looks like they going to do exit scam like QuadrigaCX back in 2019, same behavior. I will try to get my funds back from them, but looks like it's going to be hard. I will report to RCMP, just to warn public, very suspicious

Just here to update, first I provided ticket number, second: they contacted me and confirmed that I cannot transfer crypto for no reason, but STILL can withdraw fiat, paying 1.5% transfer fees? Do you see how these guys making business? Excepting money without fees, not letting you transfer your crypto, but to get your money back, you pay 1.5%.

Last update, so after all discussion, still there is no way, you can withdraw crypto from BITBUY, they offered me, sell all my crypto and withdraw fiat, "until it STILL available for you", that's what they told me.
Avoid them, and make your life happier.

Bitbuy.ca are not honest
I was forced to migrate from coinsmart to bitbuy when they merged. I work abroad a lot and was able to access my coinsmart account from anywhere in the world. Now, with bitbuy, you cannot access your account outside of Canada. They do not disclose this in their terms and agreements and they dont tell you this until after you try to log in from abroad. They are dishonest and not to be trusted. I have no access to MY MONEY. There only solution is use a vpn on a Canadian server and hope for the best. This is unacceptable. I should have been told this and been given the chance to close my account to prevent this issue. Now, Ill be abroad until summer and have no access to my account. What horrible business practices

They have my money frozen for no reason…
They have my money frozen for no reason in my bitcoin account. They had no problem taking my funds from my personal bank account I purchase bitcoin but now I cannot trade it. I cannot get a hold of anybody there. I have sent them countless emails I have tried their phone number, I don’t know what to do anymore. I am about ready to contact the RCMP.

Very poor support
Very poor support. It’s almost look like they don’t care. I am having issue with my account and I am trying to reach the support last three days. I got no response, only things response is the bot, And it’s useless bot. However they will give you option of sending inquiry request, I have fill that up their time in past three days, and no one ever reply. Also they have locked my withrawal because it’s showing me msg that I have made change of my password which is the result of locked my account. Which I didn’t change my password at all. Two factor authy is sending me one code and second code never arrives and no one to talk in bitbuy. It’s seems like they are providing customer support like 1960
And we are dealing with digital currency here in 2023.

I should have read the reviews here and not done business with them. They charge outrageous fees, the customer service is incompetent especially Oliver L. As he calls himself. They stopped my crypto transactions that i had been doing for a while asked me all kids of questions as to what i was doing and how much i was making ? Then they said the website was not legal but others in my group are using the same site as me with Bitbuy but suddenly for me they stopped. Had to convert my ETH to USDT pay outrageous fees to get my money out. BEWARE dont use them. Do your DD check other sites. Their favorite excuse is FINTRAC

Complaint - Employee's incompetence
Most stupid Support Team. Saul G is unable to confirm the conclusion and extorts information from me, manages my funds and ignores my questions, closes new Requests to you and deliberately prevents me from clarifying the issue. I believe that this person should be fired and should not be allowed to solve such important issues. I have been waiting for my funds for more than 5 days, which I transferred to another site where I repeatedly purchase special items for the Counter Strike video game. I recognise the risks and am familiar with cryptocurrency, no need to teach me. I think that You are the worst crypto-exchange in Canada. No such problems with Coinsquare, I favour it. Please resolve my problem today or i will inform about this situations to the appropriate authorities and to regulator.
