Avoid this company!

Policy purchased 25 Feb 2020 with BigBlueCover for our holiday 29 May to 9 June this year. I was told at beggining of March by BigBlue that I could amend policy dates to same time next year if Jet2 cancelled my holiday due to CV-19. Jet2 cancelled my holiday on 7 April but very happily changed my dates to same time next year at no charge!!
I tried calling BigBlue for over a week but no-one was answering. Emailed them 16 April and again 29 April, no response until i received an auto response acknowledgement on 14 May!!! Next day i got an email asking me to phone them, hurrah! (They had removed their phone number from their website previously) I duly phoned BBC fully expecting to get my policy dates changed only to be told that due to a change of underwriter in mid April, I was unable to amend my policy dates past mid April next year. Their new Underwriters were only allowing changes to existing policies for a period of 1 year from when they took over.
I was furious and asked for a refund only to be told I would only get 50% back as a "goodwill gesture" and that they would very kindly charge me a £5 admin fee to add insult to injury. Needless to say I have lodged a complaint and will be reporting them to the financial ombudsman. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! p.s. my policy was quite expensive due to my husband's health conditions.

They just don't pay out

They just don't pay out. They use an external claim company - Reactive Claims. After years of paying for unused insurance, I have had two claims close together (Both pre-Covid). Last summer I had to return home on the first flight available as my wife had become ill. They only pay for the cheap unused flight not the expensive emergency one, so with the excess it wasn't worth claiming. In early February this year, I went to Iceland and before I had landed a notification went out that all flights on the Friday (my return date) were cancelled because of an imminent storm. I had to make a quick call, as flights were disappearing fast, to go home early or late. Flew home a day early so wasted accomodation for which they cover you. They won't pay out, saying I wasn't delayed enough. I was still checked in for my original flight and the notifications I got told me it would have departed nearly 48 hours later than planned. Whatever choice I made would have been costly and in fact the one I made was the cheaper option.
Begs the question, should we even bother with travel insurance.

Big Blue Con,

Big Blue Con,
Obviously made a great deal of money selling travel insurance and not providing a refund when holidays are cancelled due to the current pandemic.
I hope allothers in the same position complain to the ombudsman.

Report them to the Ombudsman!

Report them to the Ombudsman!
Shocking service, I rang them because I just wanted to find out if I was covered for a trip in the summer which looks like it will more than certainly be cancelled. The girl on the phone just recited the terms and conditions, which even she admitted didn't say I wasn't covered. She said I would have to talk to the underwriters Reactive Claims to find out. I asked if she could transfer me to them and she said okay - to which once I was transfered the message said they were closed due to Government advice on the Coronavirus. The girl must have known they were closed but transfered me anyway - thanks! No way to get hold of anyone, they're (BigBlue) ignoring e-mails. They'll be out of business soon, but I'm sure that like a phoenix from the flames they'll be back - after all, the money they're taking off you isn't being used for insurance. What a waste of time

Shameful behaviour.

Terrible. Typical travel insurance company. Holiday cancelled because all flights were cancelled and now we find that they are refusing to pay out. Utterly shameful. But not, sadly, unexpected.

Absolute rubbish have tried to get refund for my holiday from this company even tho it's not in enforcement, due to my holiday being cancelled by your operator, and because iam outside the 14 day period the answer was no £80 for one holiday less, never use this company again and would not reccomend them to anyone ROBBING BARSTWEWARDS

Robbing so and so's

I will never ever use this company again. Had insurance for a package holiday to Turkey with Jet2 that was cancelled by the operator due to Corona Virus. A full refund was sorted with a 1 minute phone call for the holiday. Tried to reclaim my Bigbluecover payment for insurance that could not be used due cancellation. Their answer was that because I had taken the insurance out over 14 days previously (cooling off period) then I would be only entitled to 75% refund plus a £6 admin charge. So in other words it has cost me £16 for an insurance policy I could not use. I go on holiday 3 times a year and can assure you I will never use this company again. I will also tell as many colleagues as I can not to use these shysters

Auto renew but cannot contact to stop it

Been told my policy will auto renew, so tried to contact on email address given which is for ROCK INSURANCE and website will not load, tried phoning BIG BLUE COVER and kept on hold for excessively long time. Beginning to think this is just one big scam. How am I supposed to put in a claim if it occurs if there is no contact.
Won’t be using them again.

Pity anyone who has to make a claim…

Pity anyone who has to make a claim through this company, do they actually exist? I went through Money Supermarket, trusting them, then after read so many reviews on Trustpilot that I decided to cancel. Four e mails later, numerous phone calls and a letter later, I still cant get a reply. They tell you to use live chat and there is none. Good luck.

Shocking company on all counts

Shocking company on all counts. Mislead you into buying policy with medical conditions disclosed and when paid for policy then inform you cover for these conditions is declined. Then can’t get refund as admin email address bounces back and telephone calls continually engaged. Even the compliance email address dies nit respond. I will be reporting to FCA. Avoid at all costs

Spam emails

I have started receiving unsolicited marketing emails from this company. I have asked them to stop, I have also asked how they obtained my details as I have never been in contact with them; so far both requests have been ignored.
I can't comment on their product as I've never used it but based on this experience I never will and they rightly deserve 1 star.
