Easy to find what we needed

It was easy to find a list of cottages that were suitable with the cost for the location, date and length of stay clearly listed before even looking into the details of the properties.
This ensured that we could be selective without wasting too much time.
The details listed within the property page are very good with much information regarding the area and amenities.
Being a large group we needed to ensure that it met all of our needs, and the description certainly helped.
This is the second time that I have used this in the last 12 months for a family get together and will continue to use it.

Very high deposit

While the booking process itself was straightforward and an agent was available on the phone, the deposit required was far too high at 30% of the total holiday cost. To quote the Competition and Markets Authority: ‘Terms and conditions that don’t follow this approach – for example, where the business keeps a large upfront deposit which bears no relation to its losses – are likely to be unfair. As a general rule, deposits should only be a small percentage of the total cost.’
Beware of Big Cottages - they try to enforce unfair terms and conditions.

Firstly I'm sorry to hear that you felt the deposit was too high on the booking you made.

However please be aware that the deposits you view on our Big Cottages website is managed via a property manager and we have no control over these prices.

Furthermore we do not hold any funds as your payment and contract lies directly with your appointed manager.

Deposits can fluctuate on our website, although I can ensure you that we do have properties that offer lower deposits. I have sent you an email explaining this in-depth and would appreciate If you could respond.

No mention of a security deposit on the…

No mention of a security deposit on the website page for the property but conformation email says I have agreed £600 credit card security.

Many properties will charge a damage deposit, although as this is charged by the owners directly, instead of the property agents, we don't have access to this information.
