Renewed review: Bandicam’s software works in some circumstances, the website is easy to navigate.
Thank you Bandicam for your reply. All your comments are entirely valid, and appreciate you offered a workaround, however complicated for an average tech user. I accept what I was wanting to do isn’t unlawful, but understandably is REALLY discouraged by the streaming platforms. It is not something I’ve tried before or envisage needing to try again. You are quite correct, it isn’t your job to provide a solution, just provide screen recording software. So your software does as you described but not for protected content.
I have amended my stars accordingly.
It stings to be $100 AU out of pocket with nothing to show for it, but that’s my problem.
Update - the software must work in some circumstances but not for screen recording a/the major streaming platform. Long story short, the movie I wanted to purchase isn’t avail in my country and is subject to intense lobbying to have it ‘disappear’. So I decided to try screen recording it. Bandicam’s free trial worked - I recorded about a minute, making me think Bandicam works - so I paid up. But in real use the screen recording cut out after 2 minutes.
Contact with Bandicam revealed they are familiar with the issue, the only work around they offered is to download a free virtual machine, set it up, download the relevant programs etc and HOPE it works. WHAT? That’s days of work. Knowingly selling a product that is supposed but doesn’t screen record a major streaming platform is a bit dishonest. No refund was granted.
My original review:
Bandicam’s website was easy to navigate, they suggest trialling the software before purchase and provide a free albeit limited version. Download was easy as was launching.
I had a problem with the license not working (I received Bandicut not Bandicam as I purchased both) one email sorted out that minor glitch - their reply was swift - otherwise I would have given 4 stars.
The software works as described, the price is fair (we’d all like everything to be less!)

We understand your disappointment regarding the difficulty in recording content from major streaming platforms. This issue is not a flaw in Bandicam, but rather a technical limitation caused by the Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection implemented by these platforms to prevent unauthorized screen capture. Unfortunately, no screen recorder can reliably bypass these built-in protections.
We acknowledge that the suggested workaround (using a Virtual Machine environment) is complex and apologize that we cannot offer a simpler, guaranteed solution for protected content. We only offer this method as a possible technical workaround, as it sometimes bypasses DRM checks.
Regarding the refund, as outlined in our license agreement, once a license key is issued and the software is fully functional, we are generally unable to grant a refund. The software does work as described for unprotected screen recording.
However, we want to assure you that there are often simpler software-based solutions for this specific issue:
Browser Settings: For many protected streaming services, the problem can be solved by disabling the "Use Graphics acceleration when available" option within your web browser's settings.
Virtual Machine (Advanced): If the browser setting fix does not work, the VirtualBox method remains a viable, albeit complex, alternative.
Finally, please note that your purchased license grants you permanent use of Bandicam 2025. We sincerely hope you will find Bandicam extremely useful for future, non-protected screen recording tasks.
We regret that we could not provide a straightforward solution for this specific, complex issue.

When trying to record something the ability to just press a single button that JUST WORKS is very important, and bandicam has failed cause of overcomplication for a software that is too bad to be complicated..

They won't honor my license
Bought the lifetime version and they scammed me.. I had my computer breakdown so I bought another computer... It had problems with windows 11, so installed Ubuntu... Bandicam won't work on Ubuntu... Only used bandicam once on the Windows 11.. Fixed my other computer and went back to using Bandicam on it.. Didn't do anything fraudulent but the revoked my lifetime.. I wasted my money..

Your Perpetual license is fully valid and has NOT been revoked.
It seems there is a misunderstanding regarding our software:
Bandicam only supports Windows. It is not compatible with Linux or Ubuntu, which explains why the program stopped working after you changed your operating system.
The issue was your OS change, not a revocation of your license.
You should be able to use your Perpetual license on your Windows PC without issue.
